The ultimate understanding

The formless soul or consciousness is the innermost  self . The innermost self is the source of the the three states . These three states deceive, the people fail to look beyond them to its source, which is real, supreme and imperishable.

The three states are mere mirage(illusion). It is difficult to overcome the illusion without the wisdom. But one can cross over this illusion , by realizing and becoming aware of the fact that, the self is not physical but it is consciousness. People are deluded by illusion, because immersed in the illusion experiencing it as reality. They are ignorant because they think the self is physical and birth, life, death and world as reality. Having lost all discrimination, they follow the way of their physical nature.

When ignorance vanishes through wisdom then only it is possible to negate the illusion, the mortal becomes immortal. When all the physical shackles that strangle the self are loosened, the mortal becomes immortal, here in this very life.

The ultimate understanding is : Nothing has actually been created. All that appears is mere mirage. Everything is consciousness and nothing can be apart of it. No second thing exists other then consciousness, neither the man nor the world , which contains all the objects.

I AM' is bound by form, time and space

A true aspirant is not content with the knowledge of spiritual realities based on hearsay... he insists on the direct knowledge."
He who knows the 'thoughts and words are one in essence and that essence is consciousness. consciousness(soul) is the knower of ultimate truth or Brahman. A Gnani is one who has realized the highest Truth, has entered into the realm of consciousness, by burning away the accumulated egocentric dross, which was cause of ignorance. Hence he is free from experiencing the illusion as reality.

In the realm of truth consciousness has no seed of ignorance for illusion. For when mirage is superimposed on consciousness has merged in the consciousness on the discrimination of the real and the unreal , it does not appear again as real to those discriminating people, just as before, from the impressions of past persisting in the intellect.-

The real Moksha or freedom is to realize the fact that ‘I’ consciousness is mere physical awareness. Physical awareness is not self-awareness. The self –awareness is when the formless soul or consciousness remains aware of its own non-dual true nature.

YOGA VASISHTA:- The mind, the intellect, the senses, etc. are all the play of Consciousness. They are unreal and seem to exist only due to lack of insight.

I AM' is not Self and Self is not 'I AM'. 'I AM' is bound by form, time and space. Without the form, time and space 'I AM' cease to exist. Holding ' I Am as Self one remains in clutches of duality. When there is duality than there is ignorance. Ignorance is cause of experiencing the duality (illusion) as reality. The person who identifies Self as 'I AM' will not be able to cross the threshold of duality. There is no point in saying 'I AM' this or 'I AM THAT' because the 'self' is that which witness the 'I AM' and the world together without the physical apparatus.
  -FORMLESS PATH

It is wrong to say the world arise from the mind.

It is wrong to say the world arise from the mind. The mind itself arises from the soul, which is in the form of consciousness. The man and the world are within the mind. Until one thinks the mind is within the body he will not be able to go beyond duality. Therefore, there is a need to understand what is mind, which appears as whole experience of waking or dream [duality] and disappears as deep sleep (non-duality).

When the self is not the body, then what is the use of body based practices like tantra. They speak of tantric sex but when the true self is formless and it has no gender and in the realm of wisdom no second thing exist other then consciousness. When there is no man & woman and the world in reality how one can get non-dual ecstasy in sexual climax. The self is always apart from the appearance. And whatever is happening within the appearance is nothing to do with the true self.

Meditation is not wisdom. When self is formless and nature of the self itself is meditation, then what is the use of doing meditation as physical body? The self is always apart from the physical body and the world, because, it witnesses the body as well as the world together. The self is the formless witness of three states. Therefore, the main agenda of pursuit of truth is to realize the self as consciousness( formless), and then only it is possible to understand and assimilate the self-knowledge.

There is only consciousness, which is the true self; however when the consciousness is conceptualizes with different concepts and ideas, so it becomes difficult to understand and assimilate the non-dual truth. Therefore there is no attainment of goal outside of consciousness, which is the formless substance and witness of the three states. Consciousness is the center of the physical existence or mind, and it pervades in everything and everywhere in all the three states. Deeper inquiry, analysis and reasoning revels the fact that, consciousness is the true self.

Holding on to the awareness that the consciousness is the real Self is the goal. The consciousness is already there. The veil of ignorance has to be lifted to overcome the illusion. Therefore Self-Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana  is the only tool to know and realize the fact that, the veil mere mirage.

One can find answers to all questions if one first realizes the fact that, the self is not physical body but the self is that, which witnesses the physical body and the universe together, without the physical apparatus.

The ultimate answer to all the questions comes only after one realizes the self is not physical but self is consciousness. One will be able to understand and assimilate the non-dual truth only after he becomes aware of the fact that, the consciousness is the true self. Therefore, there is a necessary to realize the fact that, “consciousness” is the true self, in order to realize, the body and the universe are mere mirage created out of consciousness. Therefore the whole experience of diversity is nothing but consciousness. Thus consciousness is second to none. Therefore, to understand and assimilate and realize the consciousness is ultimate truth nothing else will help other then the knowledge of the true self.

Without knowing the nature of the world, it is impossible to know truth. What is the use of trying to find the inner self before one understands the world, which confronts him? One has to know the world which confronts him is also consciousness.

First one must inquire into the nature of the body. Second he must inquire into the nature of the mind.

Seeker has to look at everything in nature because in everything there is consciousness. One should not avoid them, or shut his eyes to Nature; one should not shut himself away from the world, which is as much consciousness, as anywhere else. But people who are not sharp say to be non-observant and to withdraw, but keen observation are desirable and will help, not hinder one’s pursuit of truth. Seeker has to Take experiences as they come to him, he should not run away from the world in ascetic fear or shyness of them.

To say universe is illusion without first examining it, and inquiring into them thoroughly is to delude himself. This universe is common to all; therefore one must begin his inquiry with it first. It is only after he has inquired into the nature of the objective universe, that he should inquire into who is the knower. If, however he inquires into the knower before the inquiry into the universe, then it is mere mysticism. What is the world?, must precede what is mind ? What is the substance of the mind?, in pursuit of truth.

To know whole truth, one must know the whole universe as consciousness, otherwise he gets half-truth. Renouncing the worldly life to get the truth means incapacity to think, an impotency of thinking faculty.

One is primarily interested in himself. Hence, to get started on a higher quest he has to go to the root of his own self, i.e. to ask "What am I?" When as a later consequence of this practice he gets more impersonal he has to go to the root of the whole existence, i.e. to ask "What is mind?"

He who loses touch with the world, which confronts him and gives himself over to his thoughts alone takes his illusions to be realities and will never be able to go beyond his illusory reality.
Truth is “What is this universe” “What is physical body or ego? ” What are these three states” “What is the meaning all these together?"

What happens when thoughts are stilled? It is not the ultimate truth that is found. It is only mind. Therefore, through yoga, it is not possible to acquire non-dual wisdom. Therefore the yogi does not know ultimate truth. Yoga is good to give peace and concentration, but only in order to start reasoning, i.e. thinking again to find the ultimate truth.

It is not enough to see a mere blank, in meditation. One has to see the body, ego and the universe as consciousness. One is free from ignorance not when he sees nothing at all, as in meditation but only when he sees the entire universe as consciousness. Hence one must know “What is mind, which appeared as universe?”, in order to unfold the mystery of the mind.

The methods are based on the false self.

The methods are based on the false self9ego or waking entity). The Methodists cannot reach the ultimate. When one becomes aware of the fact that ‘I’ is illusion then there is nothing left other then consciousness, which is knower of all the known . When knower is formless then the known ceases to exist as real. Thus the knower and the known are one in essence. Therefore, there is no second thing other then consciousness, which is formless. Thus consciousness is the ultimate truth.

Even the scriptures declare:-

 Tat tvam asi: -Thou art That (Sam Veda). “Self is that”

 Prajnanam Brahma: - Consciousness is ultimate reality (Rig Veda).
 Ayam Aatma Brahma: -The Self is ultimate truth (Atharva Veda).
 Aham Brahma Asmi: -Self is ultimate reality (Yajur veda).

Buddha also holds that this world which changes from moment to moment is no real, it is only a reflection and a thing of which it is the reflection alone is real. Buddha was not an atheist. He never denied reality. There is nothing in his words or teaching to show that he considered truth to be non-existent like horns of a hare. He could not have held the foolish view that something came out of nothing. It is true; some of his disciples misunderstood and misinterpreted him. his idea was that the truth which cannot be designated by a name , or described is words and of which one cannot even say whether it is existent or none extent , is like non-existent.  The idea is quiet in agreement with the view of Upanishads. An object which cannot even be talked about, is, for all practical purposes, as good as non-extent. But it is not non-existent in the sense that the son of barren woman is non-existent.  This subtle idea, Buddha's contemporaries and even his disciple fail to catch. In one passage Buddha says clearly: Srmana Guutama was an atheist. It is annihilation of non-existent of truth that he teaches. So will people attribute to me atheism, which is not mine? So will they ascribe me to the theory of non-existent, which again is not mine.

From these similar statements of Buddha it is clear that he was not an atheist. All philosophers old and new arrive at the same point. Orthodox Advaita (monism) that is inevitable; the people of thoughtful temperament cannot find peace and quietude until they do so. Moksha (liberation) is in the realization of oneness with God. They speak of God Goddesses, devotion and devotee, only in an in accurate way only from the standpoint of dvaithi.  After realization oneness with God, there is no distinction between go and devote and the word "devotion" has no meaning.

Sankara was criticized for his views on Maya [illusion] without understanding him. He said that (1) Brahman [the Self] is real (2) the universe is unreal, and (3) Brahman is the universe. He did not stop at the second because the third explains the other two. It signifies that the universe is real if perceived as the ‘Self’ and unreal if perceived as apart from the Self. Hence Maya or illusion and reality are one and the same.

The realists criticize the concept of illusion without understanding it. He said that :-

(1) Consciousness [the Self] is real

(2) The universe or mind is unreal, and

(3) Consciousness is the mind or universe, because universe or mind is mere illusion created out of consciousness.

One need not stop at the second because the third explains the other two. It signifies that the universe is real if perceived as the Self [consciousness] and unreal if perceived as apart from the Self (consciousness). Hence illusion and reality are one and the same because both are one in essence. Realizing the essence, which is consciousness as the innermost Self, is Self-Realization or Truth- Realization of GOD- Realization. Thus Sri, Sankara‘s declaration is rational truth, scientific truth and also ultimate truth.

Deeper thinking is necessary in order to know what is what, without depending on outer source for answers. One must try to find answers for his doubts and confusion than only it leads to the inner realm to realize the fact that his body is not body , his ego is not ego , the world is not world but they are all mirage created out of consciousness. Thus there is no emptiness but it is fulness of consciousness because the consciousness ever present with or without the mind or universe. The emptiness is the nature of the soul, the innermost self.

Yoga Vasishta:- that the world is both real and unreal. It is real because it is a manifestation of consciousness, but is unreal, in the sense, that it is not absolute and eternal like consciousness itself.

Peoples approach is more practical, and they stuck with the reality of the world, they take it as real. That is why all the confusion.

That is why Sri, Sankara says in VivekaChudamani

63. Without causing the objective universe to vanish and without knowing the truth of the Self, how is one to achieve Liberation by the mere utterance of the word Brahman ? — It would result merely in an effort of speech.

65. As a treasure hidden underground requires (for its extraction) competent instruction, excavation, the removal of stones and other such things lying above it and (finally) grasping, but never comes out by being (merely) called out by name, so the transparent Truth of the self, which is hidden by Maya and its effects, is to be attained through the instructions of a knower of Brahman, followed by reflection, meditation and so forth, but not through perverted arguments.
When the ultimate truth is rightly known and one attains eternal life thereby. Through soul, the innermost self he gains strength and through its knowledge immortality.

The pleasure and pain co-exists within the illusion.

It is the illusion that allures one to enjoy the mundane objects in a futile effort of satisfying the unceasing demands of his senses within the waking or dream. A person within the illusion becomes intoxicated of lust, greed, anger, attachment, false ego, enviousness, stubborn mindedness, and their numerous variations within the illusion.

Consequently, the individual self gets caught in the illusory cycle of birth, old age, disease, and death within the illusion. This is illusion, by which the consciousness is forgotten; emotional attachment and love of duality is born.

The ignorance of the true self is cause of duality. The duality is cause of illusion. The illusion is the cause of experiencing unreality as reality.

Because of this pluralistic phenomena of illusory -vision, the material happiness appears to be followed by sorrow. If there is laughter, there is a cry; if there is a birth, there is a death; if there is a rich, there is a poor; so on and so forth.

Everything in the waking or dream experience is in the state of constant flux; there can be found no everlasting happiness. The ego is in the control of evil passions, evil intent, and duality.

Everyone wishes for happiness, pleasures, joy, peace, etc. and none asks for suffering, misery, etc. But in the wake of pleasure, there comes suffering. The pleasure and pain co-exists within the illusion. People do not understand this. Therefore, there is necessary to realize the fact that mind, which appears as waking or dream is mere illusion.

There is a need to know fact that, the ‘I’ is not limited to the physical entity alone but ‘I’ is the mind, which appears and disappears as waking or dream. If there is no ‘I’ then there is neither waking nor dream. If there is ‘I’ then there is mind. If there is mind then only there is waking or dream. Therefore mind is not limited to the physical entity alone. Therefore, there is a need to analyze “What is ‘I?”, before indulging in pursuit of truth, in order overcome all the flaws in understanding and assimilating the non-dual truth. The ‘I’, which appears as mind is impermanent. The formless substance of the ‘I’/mind is real and eternal.

Creator and creation is part of the duality/illusion.

Creator and creation is part of the duality or illusion. In non-duality there is neither creation nor creator. Cause and effect theory holds good only when one views and judges the worldview on the base of false self(waking entity or ego) as real self.

When the seeking mind learns to view the worldview on the base of the soul, which is true self then he becomes aware of the true fact there is nothing exist other than soul, which is in the form of consciousness. Consciousness pervades in everything and everywhere in all the three states. The nature of the three states is consciousness. In absence the three states the consciousness alone exists as formless non-dual existence.

The people who believe god as creator will not be able to cross beyond the barricade of experience of duality or physicality. They get stagnant in believing duality or physical existence as reality.

To overcome this experience of illusory physical existence [mind] one has to investigate what is self first, whether 'ego ' is self or something else is self. Without knowing what is true self non duality is a distant dream.

One who is stuck with his inherited conditioning and accumulated knowledge from what he has read and assimilated and accepted them as truth, is not receptive to receive self- knowledge.

Seeker has to verify on every angle through inquiry, analysis and reasoning on his own and accept only un-contradicted truth. The spiritual  truth is non-dualistic truth  cannot be contradicted. Religious truth is individual not universal.

Idea of God as a creator holds good theoretically .This idea of god is introduced by the organized religion and rulers in the past, to keep the mass in their control by conditioning the mass mindset, to be, to believe, to behave and live in the society by strictly following its ethics and code of conduct. But this idea of god becomes a biggest obstacle in pursuit of truth, because one is unable to cross the threshold of duality, which he experiences it as reality.

When duality accepted as reality then the birth, life, death and the world will prevail as reality. Thus, the false self(ego) prevails as true self , and thinks whatever it has seen, known ,believed and experienced as a person as reality.

When one  becomes aware of its formless substance, and able to view and judge on the base of its formless substance, then there is neither the world, nor the perceiver of the world, nor the belief of god, exits as reality.

The whole illusion, in which man perceives the world, is created and sustained by consciousness. Therefore, the diversity within the consciousness is mere illusion. There is no second thing other than the consciousness, hence it is non dual. On the standpoint of the soul or consciousness , the innermost self nothing exists, nothing ever existed; nothing will ever exit other then consciousness.

The mind has its origin in consciousness/soul.

The mind has its origin in consciousness/soul. The three states are dependent on formless soul or consciousness (Atman) for their existence. During the deep sleep the waking and dream merges with consciousness. There is no second thing other than consciousness in its true nature. Hence it is non dual.

Consciousness (soul) is of the nature of knowing. Man, world and his belief of god depends on mind for their existence and mind depends on consciousness for its existence. If the reality of world bothers one and he is not ready to accept its illusory nature then he has to first inquire into the nature of the mind by inquiring “What is ‘I’?, then realize the fact that ‘I’ is not limited to physical entity alone but to the whole mind ,which appears and disappears as waking or dream.

By trying to know the truth as person, kicking the universe behind, it is impossible to acquire self-knowledge. Till one knows the consciousness (soul) one has only the mind [man + universe]. If one is unable to consider the world as illusion then it is realism. By considering the world as reality one is accepting the matter as reality. By accepting the matter as reality one will remain believing the birth, life and death as reality.

One has to realize the fact that, the matter (mind or universe) is dependent on consciousness for its existence. It cannot exist without the consciousness. The consciousness is the substance and witness of the matter (mind or universe). Thus, substance and witness is one in essence, which is consciousness.

Holding the body and universe as reality, is holding the ignorance as reality. Holding the ignorance as reality is holding the illusion as reality. Holding the illusion as reality is holding the unreality as reality. Thus non-dual truth is impossible for those who believe in realism, because they have accepted untruth as ultimate truth.

The one which has the capacity to know is not the body but consciousness. The consciousness knows the body and the world together. Man and his universe co- exist within the mind. The Mind exists within the consciousness. Thus mind is body and the world together. The knower of the mind, which appears as waking or dream and disappears as deep sleep is consciousness or soul.

One mistake body to be matter everything else as mind. But analysis shows the mind itself is the matter. Without the mind there is no matter. Whatever exists without the matter is real and ultimate and it is consciousness. When everything is consciousness then there is no second thing other then consciousness. Therefore on the standpoint of consciousness as self, everything is consciousness and diversity is mere mirage created out of consciousness. Hence man and world are mere illusion on the standpoint of the consciousness, which ultimate truth.

People are conditioned to view and judge the worldview on the stand point of the false self or ego. They can only understand what they are thought by their by parental grooming, religion societal ethics, accumulated knowledge and circumstances of life. They cannot think beyond physicality.

The seeker of truth is one who is ready verify and has courage to accept and reject the truth when he finds out what is truth and what is untruth. The meek will stick to their inherited conditioning remain experiencing duality as reality.

Pursuit of truth is not suited for religionists, realists and yogis who believe in conceptual god. Because religious idea of god, world, heaven, hell, sin karma, ceases to exist as real when one becomes aware of the non dual truth.

Seekers who are ready to accept only truth have to indulge in the pursuit of truth. And people who are satisfied with their faith and belief and accepted truth must continue without disturbing their present outfit.

To travel from ignorance to wisdom one has to use the words and concepts and as his understanding matures he will realize that he has to drop them.

We are discussing about the formless truth in the realm of truth. If we rectify reasoning base form to formless then the words and concepts will become meaningless. To travel from ignorance to wisdom one has to use the words and concepts and as his understanding matures he will realize that he has to drop them.

Everyone is not in same level of understanding, some are in elementary level and some are in advanced stages. In elementary stages we have to use more words and concepts to make them understand and also to overcome the inherited conditioning, for advanced seekers are sharp enough to understand assimilate the truth with lesser words.

Spiritual pursuit is a very personal journey. Seeker of truth has to bifurcate everything which is based on the ego, which is false self, such as religion, god, paths and theories and philosophy.

Seeker of truth should not indulge in condemning religion and yoga or its gurus or gods and it code of conduct. But he has to highlight its fallacy for his own information which helps him to proceed deeper in investigation.

Seeker of truth has to mingle and discuss with likeminded people but never indulge in arguments about religious doctrines and teachers and teachings and philosophies.

Religion and god and guru glorification and scriptural studies or yoga are not needed in pursuit of truth. Only one must have the intense urge to know the truth and courage to accept the truth and reject the untruth, when un-contradictable truth is revealed through inquiry analysis and reasoning.

A receptive mind free from religious and yogic or any sort of egocentric  knowledge is very much necessary to acquire the non-dual wisdom.

All the accumulated knowledge from religion and yoga and paths and theories are of no use in pursuit of truth. Religion and yoga are helpful for the mass and the society but they are barricade in unfolding the mystery of the mind.

Even in the Buddhism: - Buddhist teaching has itself become a kind of interactive and self-evolving process, much like its idea of pratityasamutpada. However, the end goal is still Nirvana, which is an experience ultimately beyond all concepts and language, even beyond the Buddhist teachings. In the end even the attachment to the Dharma, the Buddhist teaching, must be dropped like all other attachments. The tradition compares the teaching to a raft upon which one crosses a swift river to get to the other side; once one is on the far shore; there is no longer any need to carry the raft. The far shore is Nirvana, and it is also said that when one arrives, one can see quite clearly that there was never any river at all.

The scriptures and theories and teaching based on the ego are not the yardstick. Using them as yardstick to understand and assimilate the truth will lead one towards pursuit of arguments. Seeker of truth has to discover on his own, the truth of his true existence by inquiring “what is mind?” and “what is substance of the mind?” and move forward.

The wisdom consists in knowing the truth, that everything (mind or universe or  physical existence) is consciousness. Freedom (truth) is always there yet one does not know it. But to those whose reason is turned away from physicality and who have attained the serenity of the formless  soul, the innermost self( consciousness) are quite near to the ultimate truth.

To think once own body and his experience of the world is an illusion is difficult matter, unless one realizes the self is not physical but it is formless soul it is difficult to have glimpse of truth.

When one realizes the fact that, the self is not physical but the formless soul, naturally the body and universe becomes illusion.

The mind (universe) is emanating from soul (consciousness)means the mind is being effect from consciousness is not different from it. Deeper analysis shows it. Analysis needs deeper thinking and reasoning. Mind is whole universe thus it has a form. But where is the form in consciousness (formless soul)because consciousness is like an ocean and mind is like wave. The universe is same consciousness, as the ocean produces the wave, so the consciousness produces the mind (universe).

The moment one knows the mind (universe) is consciousness, and then there is no ignorance. If one knows consciousness as self then everything is consciousness, the consciousness is second to none. The mind is consciousness but due to ignorance one mistakes it for something else. One thinks the self is within the body; but the self is without the body and the world.

Mind ceases to exist without the matter. Without the matter mind ceases to exist as mind but it exists as matter- less awareness or consciousness. Without the mind neither the world nor its perceiver can exist.

Without the matter there is no duality. Without duality there is no experience. Without experience it is non dual reality. Therefore whatever prevails without the mind is ultimate reality.

The true nature of the soul  or consciousness  is camouflaged by the illusion or duality. To know the truth one has to discover and realize the formless substance of the mind or illusion. One has to learn to view and judge the worldview on the standpoint the formless soul as self. Self-Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana  is the prime goal of the truth seeker. This goal is hidden within the mind as its invisible substance and witness. Therefore, it is necessary inquiry, analyze and reason in to the nature of mind or duality or illusion in order to unfold the mystery of mind or duality or illusion.

One cannot know the truth until one knows the stuff from which the mind is created.

One cannot know the truth until one knows the stuff from which the mind is created. The goal of pursuit of truth is to realize the fact that, the true self is not physical but it is the formless soul or  spirit or consciousness.

When one puts aside the imagination and has the thinker-- what does he get with thinking—he can get only a thoughts. Meditation is only an effort; it is imagination, an idea; the soul or consciousness remaining the same with or without ideas.

As a person perceiving the world one is unaware of the fact that, he and his experience of the world are within the object. He as a person is completely unaware of the fact that, he is not the subject at all. The subject is formless and it is apart from the three states. The subject is not an entity or identity within the three states. Therefore, judging the truth on the base of the object as self is erroneous. Such judgement leads to all sorts of speculation, doubts and confusions.

When one is absorbed in thinking of anything, he is thinking within the object [mind] that which witnesses all these three states is within but always apart.

As a thinker he gets only thoughts. The thinker and thoughts are part of the illusion. Whenever there is thoughts and experiences, there is duality [mind]. Where there is duality [mind] there is always ignorance. Where there is ignorance there is illusion. The duality, mind and ignorance illusion are one and the same thing and they appear together and disappear. The ignorance vanishes when the wisdom dawns.

The knower of the three states is within the three states but it is formless and apart from the three states.

The whole universe and people and all its contents are within the mind. The truth is hidden within the mind but it is without the mind. As a Man one thinks the mind is within the physical body but the truth is the body and the universe are within the mind. Until this mistake is rectified to get the non -dual truth is impossibility. Man thinks he is an individual separate from the world within the mind which appears as waking or dream and disappears as deep sleep. Therefore, one has to analyze the three states in order to realize the witness of the three states is formless and apart from the three states. Thus the man is not the witness of the three states. Realizing this fact, it is erroneous to judge the truth on the waking entity.

It is impossible to trace the mind within the physical body, because the physical body and the world are within the mind. The idea of multiplicity of mind cannot be accepted. The dream appears as a whole with the dream entity, with people and dream world. The dream is witnessed as whole without the physical apparatus. The same witness witnesses the waking and deep sleep as a whole. This truth has to be grasped to realize the fact that, the waking entity is not the witness of the three states. Only when this truth is grasped, then it becomes easier to assimilate the Self-Knowledge.

Therefore, how the meditation or Samadhi or any other practice can yield the fruit, when the waking entity is not the self and the true self is the witness of the three states, not waking experience alone. This truth has to be grasped to rectify the mistake, which keeps one in the grip of duality makes him experience the duality as reality.
