Moksha is interpreted in various ways. It means the dispelling of ignorance, freeing the soul, the innermost self from bondage of the illusory experience of birth, life, death and the world

Moksha is interpreted in various ways. It means the dispelling of ignorance, freeing the soul, the innermost self from bondage of the illusory experience of birth, life, death and the world--all other meanings regarding heaven etc. are all imagination. Moksha only means knowing the ultimate truth or Brahman. That is why they have coined the word Jivanmukta.

The cause of thirst for life and a thirst for rebirth is ignorance of the true self.  Real rebirth is dying from the matter into the Spirit. This is the significance of the crucifixion of Jesus. Whenever identification with the body and the world exists, a body and the world are always available, whether in the dream or waking or vision or astral, till the duality disappears by merging into the Source – the Spirit. The soul is in the form of spirit or consciousness. .

The stone which is projected upwards remains in constant motion, till it returns to its source, the earth, and rests. Pain continues to give trouble, till the pre-pain state is regained.

The quest for self-knowledge is inherent in the very nature of life, which is Absolute Existence – truth. Although indestructible by nature, by false identification with its destructible instrument, the body, consciousness imbibes a false apprehension of its destructibility within the false experience of duality; hence it tries to perpetuate that instrument, which results in believing the birth, life and death as a reality. But however long these experiences may last; they eventually come to an end and yield to the Self, which alone eternally exists.

The seeker has to give up the false identification with the ‘my’ which is the false self and, remember, the body and the world cannot exist without the Self, whereas the Self can exist without the body and the world; in fact it is always without it.

People think human being may take an animal birth in some other life. These ideas are based on accepting the present birth as reality. Inquiry and reasoning on the true base proves the fact that, neither the body, nor the ‘I’, is the true self.  Therefore, the present birth, life and death are falsehood or illusion.  Thus, the seeker has to realize the fact that, the birth, life and death are part of the illusion, therefore the rebirth and reincarnation theory is mere imagination based on the false identity, within the false experience.

The cause and origin of the three states is the consciousness. Consciousness appears as waking or dream (duality) and disappears as deep sleep (non-duality). Thus it is for the seeker to know what appears as duality (waking or dream) and what disappears as non-duality (deep sleep).

The body and the world are exists only in duality (waking or dream).  They are non-existent in non-duality (deep sleep). To unfold this mystery one has to know what is the mind and what is the substance of the mind.

Only in duality (waking or dream) one knows that he exists, in deep sleep the objective existence is absent.

One is aware of his body and sees his body moving and thinking. But he is unaware of the fact that he and his experience of the world are within the experience of duality (waking or dream).

One has to realize the fact that, the body also moving and thinking and being in all sorts of places in the dream while it is actually lying fast asleep. The dream is reality until waking takes place. The waking also is reality until the wisdom dawns.

This Advaitic Gnana or wisdom is the supreme secret. That for which the seeker has to make or do all things is to understand, assimilate and realize the Supreme Truth or Brahman, this Gnana or wisdom.

The real Moksha or freedom is   to realize the fact that ‘I’ consciousness is mere physical awareness. Physical awareness is not self-awareness. The self –awareness is when the formless soul or consciousness remains aware of its own non-dual   true nature.

The path of wisdom is inner (mental) journey. Self-knowledge and wisdom are one and the same thing. Without the intense urge it is difficult to tread this path. Self-realization is not an experience because the self is not an individual because it is formless and it pervades everything and everywhere in all the three states.

The soul or consciousness, the innermost self is the witness-consciousness that experiences the action, the actor, and the world of separate things. It is like a light that illuminates everything in a theatre, revealing the master of ceremonies, the guests, and the dancers with complete impartiality. Even when they all depart, the light shines to reveal their absence.

A deeper self - search reveals the fact that: -the experience implies duality.  And duality is falsehood from ultimate standpoint. The ego, body and world appear together and disappear together.  One cannot get rid of the ego alone. It is no use of challenging or indulging in argument whether one is right and others are wrong, in pursuit of truth, because the pursuit of truth is the pursuit of verification.  It is for the seeker to know how he is right how others wrong and on what standpoint he is right and others are wrong. And   seeker has to verify himself what he knows as truth,   is truth or not.

By worshipping gods and goddesses you will go after death to the world of gods and goddesses. But will that help you? The time you spend there is wasted, because if you were not there you could have spent that time moving forward towards Self-knowledge, which is your goal.

Brihadaranyaka Upanishad declares that:-Brahman is the form of the Athma, and it is indeed Athma itself.

People are not aware of the fact that,  there is no God can exist, apart from Ataman or the soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. If there is no Ataman, then there is no body, no ego, no  world and no  belief of  their God. They think that there must be a creator of this universe. If one thinks  ’I’ as self, then there is a creator, but if one thinks the Atman or  soul as the real self, then there is nothing exists other than the soul, which   is present in the form of consciousness.

If one objectifies and sees a universe, then he is bound to see many things beside himself and postulate a God, the creator. Body, God and world rise and set together from, and into, the soul, the innermost self. If God is apart from the soul, the innermost self  then He would be Self-less, that is, outside existence, that is, non-existent.

In Isa Upanishad says:-

MANTRA 10

Scholars say that the path of Avidya [performing Aganihotra and other sacrifices] and the path of vidya [worshipping gods and goddesses] produce different results. Wise men confirm this. [X]

Vidya and Avidya both are hindrances to Self-knowledge, but Vidya is even worse than Avidya. The word Vidya is used here in a special sense; here it means worshipping gods and goddesses. By worshipping gods and goddesses you will go after death to the world of gods and goddesses. But will that help you? The time you spend there is wasted, because if you were not there you could have spent that time moving forward towards Self-knowledge, which is your goal. In the world of gods and goddesses you cannot do that, and thus you go deeper and deeper into darkness.

Avidya is Karama and therefore a hindrance. You perform Avidya - i.e., you perform Agnihotra and other sacrifices. This is a roundabout way of purifying the mind, and it is also groping in the dark. But it may not have as heavy a toll on your time and energy as the other.

The final advice by sankara is: combine both work and worship. Together they may quicken your pace towards Self-knowledge, because it will lead to Chitt shuddhi, purification of the mind. When this happens your desire for enjoyments will become less and your sense of "I' and "mine' will subside. This is the way to Karama-Mukthi, gradual, or progressive, liberation, according to Sankara.

MANTRA 11

He who worships gods and goddesses [Vidya] and also performs sacrifices [Avidya] attains immortality by sacrifices [Avidya] and attains bliss by worshipping gods and goddesses [Vidya]. [XI]

The condition in both cases worshipping gods and goddesses and performing sacrifices is that the person should have no motive for personal gain. He should not desire the fruits of his actions, such as going to the heaven of gods and goddesses.

As earlier explained, the word Vidya ¸ has a special meaning here. It means worship of gods and goddesses. Similarly, Avidya ¸ also has a special meaning. It is Karma that is, performing Aganihotra and other sacrifices. Such karmas are obligatory, but if they are done without any attachment to their fruits, they help purify the mind. Combining Karma and worship is a path to gradual liberation. Sankara approves this for those who are not yet ready to renounce.

But suppose you follow the two paths separately. If you perform Avidya ¸ you will go to Pitra loka (the world of your ancestors). This is a dark region, because it is far removed from Self-knowledge. In fact, you will have to wait a long time to attain Self-knowledge. But if you worship Vidya ¸ - that is, gods and goddesses you go into still darker regions, and your attainment of Self-knowledge is even further delayed.

True, you go to Dev loka (the heaven of gods and goddesses), but you are caught in the pleasures there, and you remain there until the fruits of your worship are fully exhausted. You are then reborn as a human being, and your struggle resumes from where you left off. This is why Vidya ¸ is considered worse. But if you combine the two that is, perform the obligatory karmas without any attachment to the fruits and at the same time worship gods and goddesses, again without any desire to go to heaven - then you can get the benefit of both, liberation and bliss. For those who are not yet ready to renounce, this path is recommended.

It proves that the concept of god, karma, heaven and hell are ideas created by religion, to help for those who are incapable of grasping. The concept of god and goddesses and karma are part of the ignorance. By worshiping god and goddesses one accepts the false self as true self, thus he is unfit for self-knowledge. Therefore the concept of god is not the means to acquire the self knowledge. That is why Buddha rejected the concept of God.

Katha Upanishad says:
[Upanishads Nikhilananda]

Fools dwelling in darkness, but thinking themselves wise and erudite, go round and round, by various tortuous paths, like the blind led by the blind. (Ch II-5 P-14)

It indicates that the one who is ignorant (darkness) of the true self (formless witness or Atman) searches truth by accumulating knowledge of every path and practice and uncertain about the truth, and thinks every path leads towards reality. The ignorance of the true self leads one towards unreality or hallucination.

This Atman cannot be attained by the study of the Vedas, or by intelligence, or by much hearing of sacred books. It is attained by him alone whom It chooses. To such a one Atman reveals Its own form. [Katha Upanishad Ch-II -23-P-20]

Mundaka Upanishad :This Atman cannot be attained through study of the Vedas, nor through intelligence, nor through much learning. He who chooses Atman—by him alone is Atman attained. It is Ataman that reveals to the seeker Its true nature. [ 3 –page-70 (Upanishads by Nikilanada)

The above passages further proves that: self-knowledge cannot be attained by study of the Vedas and intellectual understanding or by bookish knowledge. Therefore there is no use of studying the Vedas and other scriptures in order to acquire the non-dual wisdom. That is why Buddha rejected the scriptures, and even Sri, Sankara indicated that, the truth lies beyond religion, concept of god and scriptures.

For the same reason Raman Maharshi said fortunate are the one who do not lose themselves in the labyrinths of philosophy. Bhagwan says: Take Vedanta, for instance: it speaks of 15 pranas the names and functions of it which the student is asked to commit memory. Will it not be sufficient if he thought only one prana does the whole work of maintaining the body? Again the antakaran is said to think, to desire, to will, to reason etc. Why all these details? Has anyone seen antakarana, or all these pranas? Do they really exist? They are conceptual divisions invented by teachers of philosophy by their excessive analysis. Where do all these concepts end? Why should confusion created and then explained away? Fortunate is the man who does not lose him self in the labyrinths of philosophy, but goes straight to the source from which they all arise. (GURU RAMANA .By S.S Cohen -vii Danger of philosophy-Page -58-59)

Raman Mahrshi further explains (in page 111/112- practical guide to know your self):-

Q: D: Is it not necessary to study the Vedas or at least Prastnatraya[Bagvad gita.Dasoponishad and Brahma Sutra all with commentaries] to ensure firm reazation?

A: Bhagvan: - No. Do you need all that to see yourself? All that is intellectual wealth, useful in explain doubts and difficulties if others rise them if you yourself encounter them in course of thinking. But to attain realization, all that is not necessary. You want fresh water to drink, but you do not require all the water of the river Ganges to quench your quest.

They alone in this world are endowed with the highest wisdom who are firm in their conviction of the sameness and birthlessness of Ataman. The ordinary man does not understand their way. (Chapter IV — Alatasanti Prakarana 95-P-188 in Upanishads by Nikilanada)

This passage indicates the fact that everything is Atman, the innermost self. The one who views and judges the worldview on the base of his birth entity  will not be able to  realize the fact that, the man including the world is created sustained and finally dissolves as Ataman. Thus,  Atman alone is, and all else is mirage.

Thus Self-knowledge or Bramha Gnana or Atma Gnana  is the aim of every human being. Since everyone thinks the physical body is the self their aim is misdirected and they focus their attention on materiality which makes one feel the duality (waking) as reality.

Nisagadutta said:- Millions are in search of the ultimate truth, and only one in million will be able to grasp and realize it.

By focusing more attention on Ataman by talking, writing, discussing only of Ataman, the conviction grows and becomes firmer and the duality will fade away as reality. One who realizes the Ataman is the real self  will become free from experiencing the illusory  duality The Atman or soul, which is present in the form of consciousness is the birth-less and deathless, eternal identity. The consciousness is the formless source,   substance and the witness of the mirage called duality. Thus the formless  the source,  the substance and the witness of the  illusory duality are one in essence.

Therefore there is no need to study the scriptures, or indulge in God and Guru glorification or performing religious rituals in pursuit of truth. Since, they are not the means to acquire non-dualistic or Avaitic  wisdom. It is only a waste of time and effort to indulge in those things.

The Atman or Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness, is the innermost self. Consciousness is the witness that experiences the action, the actor, and the world of separate things. It is like a light that illuminates everything in a theatre, revealing the master of ceremonies, the guests, and the dancers with complete impartiality. Even when they all depart, the light shines to reveal their absence.

What is not consciousness (formless) in the experience of diversity [waking or universe]?  The waking and the dream cease to exist without consciousness.  The seeker, the  seeking and his destination   all are one in essence.

There is only need to realize the whole universe in which we exist is created out of consciousness (soul or Atman), the innermost self.  On the standpoint of the soul, the  innermost self, the universe is mere illusion created out of consciousness.  Thus on the ultimate standpoint no second thing exists other than consciousness. Thus consciousness is ultimate truth or Brahman.  The Brahman is God.

Adyathmic Discussion-333

When the Upanishad says: the human goal is to acquire Self-Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana and they indicate the personal gods, scriptures, worship and rituals are not the means to Self –Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana, then why anyone should indulge in it. The religion, concept of individualized god and scriptures are the greatest obstacle to realize non-dual truth or self-reali zation, because they are based on false self. The seeker of truth has to search the ultimate truth without losing himself in the labyrinths of philosophy, through deeper, inquiry, analysis and reasoning and assimilate and realize it.

That is why Sage Sri Sankara, indicated in Bhaja Govindam says: - [Jnana Viheena Sarva Mathena Bajathi na Muktim janma Shatena] - one without knowledge does not obtain liberation even in a hundred births, no matter which religious faith he follows.

Then it is no use going roundabout way, trace the Brahman which is the formless substance and the witness of the universe, which is in the form of mind. By tracing the source of the mind or universe one will be able to realize the Brahman. --FORMLESS PATH

Whatever have appeared (birth, life, death and world) has appeared on its own and it disappears on its own.

Buddha:No one saves us but ourselves.  No one can and no one may.  We ourselves must walk the path.
Whatever have appeared (birth, life, death and world) has appeared on its own and it disappears on its own.  Whether a person takes it as reality or illusion it all depends on his mental and intellectual conditions will determine the phenomenal world observed and experienced. The look of an object will depend upon the medium through which the observer views it. A Gnani viewing the universe (practical life within the practical world) different from the ignorant is viewing the same universe (practical life within the practical world). Each one of them interprets the universe he sees in term of his existing knowledge.   The Gnani sees his body, his ego and his experience of the world as mere mirage created out of consciousness whereas the ignorant sees his body as body, his ego as ego and his experience of the world as world.

Thus experiencing the pain and pleasure within the illusion with the illusory self, within the illusory experience, has to be illusion. The illusion is created, and sustained, and finally dissolves as consciousness, which is the innermost Self.  Since, there is no second thing other than the consciousness (soul); the consciousness itself is ultimate truth or Brahman.   The one who has realized this truth for him this illusion is passing show because he is fully aware of the fact that his body, his ego and his experience of the world to be consciousness. Practical peoples approach is more practical, and they are stuck with the reality of the practical life within the practical world, they take it as real whereas for Gnani has the firm conviction that:- The formless soul or Consciousness is the witness that experiences the action, the actor, and the world of separate things. It is like a light that illuminates everything in a theatre, revealing the master of ceremonies, the guests, and the dancers with complete impartiality. Even when they all depart, the light shines to reveal their absence.

What is not the  consciousness (formless) in the experience of diversity (universe or waking)?  The waking and the dream cease to exist without consciousness.  The seeker, seeking and his destination   all are one in essence.

Love, happiness and misery are part of the illusory reality. Creation is neither good nor bad; it is as it is because it is illusory reality.  Until we think duality as reality we bound to experience the burden and bondage as reality.

It is the thinking faculty, which puts all sorts of constructions on it, as it sees things from its own angle and as it suits its own interests within the illusion. Not becoming aware of the fact that experience of diversity which consists of man and universe is a  mere illusion is the causes of all the misery in the world.

Within the experience of duality one feels there the world is creation. And world existed prior to him and he is born in the world afterwards. But in reality there is neither creation, nor creator because the experience of diversity is created out of single formless clay.   Illusion is like cloud and it continues to move and when it is enlightened with coolness it vanishes and realizes it is mere water.

It is the human mind that created all difficulties in realizing the truth of its true existence, by imagining all sorts of theories based on the form to realize the formless reality. One has to realize the fact that the formless is prior to the form, how can one realize the truth, by theories  based on the form [body], which cease to exist without  the world and the world ceases to  exist without waking or dream . And waking dream cease to exist without the formless witness.  Thus the waking or dream which consists of the man and world are dependent on the formless for its existence.

The idea of God is creation of man. Man worship God within the  illusory  duality . Man and the world do not exist in reality, because they are the part of the mirage created out of consciousness . Therefore whatever man sees, knows, believes and experiences of the world are  part of the illusion. Thus the godly business is a  reality due to  inborn and inherited ignorance. For the truth seeker the truth itself is God. That is the soul, which is present in the form of consciousness itself is God.

For the one who accepts the birth life, death and the world as reality it is impossible to acquire the Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.

All religions of the world and all philosophies of the world are based on the individuality or ego; find no answers for many questions. Truth seekers all over the world are trying to find answers for themselves, and they imagine and write articles and books of their ideas and others will read and blindly accept them as truth.

There is no need to condemn any ones’ views and ideas or writing, but without being judgmental, seeker has to verify whether the author is speaking on the standpoint of ego, or whether he is speaking on the standpoint of soul, the innermost self.  If his views are based on the standpoint of the waking entity or ego, then there is many doubts and confusion. If his views are based on the soul as self then there is no confusion and doubts of any sort

Nothing has to be accepted without verifying the validity of any claim in pursuit of truth. Only un-contradictable truth has to be accepted as truth.  There is no need to condemn any religion or any saints or sages, but seeker has to think beyond religion, scriptures and individualized gods.

The religious, yogic and worldly truths are individual truth based on the ego or waking entity.  The spiritual truth is universal truth, which is based on the soul, the innermost self, which is present in the form of consciousness. The truth which is based on the formless soul, the innermost self is the ultimate truth or Brahman or Christ or Emptiness.

Many people know that the pleasures of this world are useless and even painful, yet they long for them. The only way to end this longing is to become aware of the truth of his true existence, and realize the physical existence is mere illusion then only all attachments to the physical existence will gradually drop away.

If one waits till all desires disappear to start his pursuit of truth, he will remain ignorant and become one with the truth unconsciously when the duality melts way on its own (death).

Why there was so much evil in the world, and why should evil-doers be more successful than good doers? If it were due to Karma, who made that Karma, and why should it be so arbitrarily dispensed – various karma to various individuals, which become the cause of so much misery and turmoil?

The soul, the innermost self has no karma because it is formless. Man and the world are creation within the mirage (waking or dream). Thus the theories created by within the mirage have no value.   The soul, the innermost self is free from karma. The karma is reality only for those who think the ‘I’ as self and waking as reality. If one becomes free from the ignorance of the true self, there will be no varied individuals and no varied karmas; misery will thus disappear. He who kills man’s creation sees heaven of non-duality only; the others see only hell of duality.

“It is every religionists experience that evil-doing recoils on the doer sooner or later. Because he is not aware of the fact that, the self is neither the waking entity nor the self is the dream entity but the self is the formless soul and thinks the religious theories are true which are based on the body as self. Thus religion views and judges the worldview on the base of the body not the soul. Religion becomes a false notion on the base of the soul as self. Thus it is necessary to know the fact and realize the ‘I’ is not the self, but the self is  the  formless  soul, to overcome the duality which we are experiencing it as reality.

The Karma theory is based on the waking entity. Waking entity is false self within the false experience whereas the self is birthless and deathless. Karma performed by the false self within the false experience is bound to be falsehood.  Thus one has to realize the fact that, dream entity is also is false self within the false experience. The dream is considered as falsehood when waking takes place. Similarly the waking also becomes falsehood when wisdom dawns. Wisdom dawns when the waking entity realizes it itself is not the self in the midst of the  waking experience.

The waking experience is state of ignorance. In the state ignorance one remains experiencing the  illusion as reality.  Till  the  illusion remains reality, he will remain ignorant of the fact that, the illusory  experience of  cycle of birth, life and death is reality he will not be able to realze the non-dualistc or Advatic truth.  Therefore, it is not possible for one to accept the fact that, world is illusion, till  he becomes aware of the fact that , the self is neither the waking entity nor the self is dream entity but the self the formless soul or the  consciousness ,which is the  substance and the  witness of the three states.  Therefore, for those who believe the waking entity  as self, and refuse to accept the soul  as true self, find the law of karma as universal law and very sacred, because they have  blindly accepted their experience of  birth, life, death  and the world as reality without verifying  the validity of their  accepted truth.

Sage Sri, Sankara says clearly, the universe is not real. He says that Brahman and Atman are one. The ultimate and the Absolute Truth is the Self, which is one though appearing as many in different individuals. The individual has no reality. Only The formless soul ,which is present in the form of consciousness is Real; the rest, mental and physical are but passing appearances, then it indicates the form (waking or universe or mind) is unreal the formless is real (soul).  Therefore, only Ataman is real because there is no second thing other than Ataman.

He also clearly mentions that:The path of religion, theory of karma, path of yoga and the path of wisdom were intended for different classes of people. The wisdom is for the advanced seekers of truth. It deals with the nature of the ultimate Truth and Reality. It is meant for superior aspirants who have inner urge to know the truth and it is not for those who are immersed in earthly desires.

Thus we have to know the fact that Buddha, Goudpada and Sri,Sankara are not only reformers but also  the greatest  scientists. Since there original thesis have been lost in the labyrinths of philosophy and mutilated by pundits and orthodoxy, it becomes very difficult understand and assimilate the wisdom expounded by the great masters. In addition, the conservativeness of the orthodox scholars will not allow any research other than playing with the words, which suits the mass mind sets, because of their egocentric outlook.

All the add-ons have to be deleted, in order to understand and assimilate the real fragrance of the wisdom expounded by the great masters of Advith, but it is hurricane task.  Thus, it is no use going through all the scriptures, when there is direct path to nondual truth.  The same time and effort can be used to reach the nondual destination, in lesser time and effort.

Nonduality does not need the support of any Scripture or Revelation like the Veda. For it is based, not upon the varying theological fancies, which are as numerous as the sands of the sea, but upon reason, the common heritage of all mankind, irrespective of colour or creed or clime.

The Seeker of truth has to know that something is inadequate in Buddhist or orthodox Advaitic teachings to reach the nondual destination because of the add-ons and adulteration. Thus it becomes difficult to reach destination directed by the Buddha, Sage Sri, Sankara and Sage Sri, Goudpada.  It is for the seeker to go on his own and remove the obstacle.  The greatest hindrance is mixing religion, god, scriptures, and yogic theories. Moreover, attachment to scriptures, personal god and religious code of conduct keeps one permanently in the grip of duality.

When the self is neither the body nor the ego, neither the waking entity not the dream entity, then how the karma based on the false self within the false experience can yield fruits.  Therefore, karma is a religious fable.

The karma theory is reality only for those who believe their present physical identity (ego or waking entity) as real, and world as reality. When Sage Sri, Sankara declares the world itself is illusion, and Brahman is real, then what value the karma theory has when the world is illusion, because man is part and parcel of the illusory world. Therefore, one has to view and judge the worldview on the standpoint of Brahman [Ataman/true self] in order to overcome the duality, which he is experiencing it as reality.  The individuality is reality within the illusory world. Therefore, all the theories created within the illusion on the base of false entity, within the false experience, has to be the part and parcel of the illusion.  Thus it is necessary to realize the fact that Ataman is the true self and all else is illusion, to overcome the illusory concept of cycle of birth, life and death.  Thus to understand and assimilate Sri, Sankara’s Advaitic truth, seeker  has to  do his own home work through inquiry, analysis and reasoning on the true base, without mixing religion, scriptures, theories  concept of god and yoga.

Sage Sri Sankara says in Aparokshanubhuti:- 88. When the whole universe, movable and immovable, is known to be Atman, and thus the existence of everything else is negated, where is then any room to say that the body is Atman?

   89. O enlightened one, pass your time always contemplating on Atman while you are experiencing all the results of Prarabdha; for it ill becomes you to feel distressed.

   90. The theory one hears of from the scripture, that Prarabdha does not lose its hold upon one even after the origination of the knowledge of Atman, is now being refuted.

   91. After the origination of the knowledge of Reality, Prarabdha verily ceases to exist, inasmuch as the body and the like become non-existent; just as a dream does not exist on waking.

   92. That Karma which is done in a previous life is known as Prarabdha (which produces the present life). But such Karma cannot take the place of Prarabdha (for a man of knowledge), as he has no other birth (being free from ego).

   93. Just as the body in a dream is superimposed (and therefore illusory), so is also this body. How could there be any birth of the superimposed (body), and in the absence of birth (of the body) where is the room for that (i.e., Prarabdha) at all ?

   94. The Vedanta texts declare ignorance to be verily the material (cause) of the phenomenal world just as earth is of a jar. That (ignorance) being destroyed, where can the universe subsist ?

   95. Just as a person out of confusion perceives only the snake leaving aside the rope, so does an ignorant person see only the phenomenal world without knowing the reality?

   96. The real nature of the rope being known, the appearance of the snake no longer persists; so the substratum being known, the phenomenal world disappears completely.

   97. The body also being within the phenomenal world (and therefore unreal), how could Prarabdha exist ? It is, therefore, for the understanding of the ignorant alone that the Shruti speaks of Prarabdha.

   98. “And all the actions of a man perish when he realizes that (Atman) which is both the higher and the lower”. Here the clear use of the plural by the Shruti is to negate Prarabdha as well.

   99. If the ignorant still arbitrarily maintain this, they will not only involve themselves into two absurdities but will also run the risk of forgoing the Vedantic conclusion. So one should accept those Shrutis alone from which proceeds true knowledge.

The above proves that the karma is reality only on the base of the false self, where one thinks body and the universes as reality. When one becomes aware of the fact that, the true self is formless soul, then the karma becomes part and parcel of  the illusion.   My point is that, if one accepts the karma theory as reality, he will never be able to come out of the ignorance. And ignorance makes him believe the cycle of birth, life and death as a  reality.  Thus the freedom which one is seeking will remain a  distant dream. For the one who accepts the birth life, death and the world  as reality it is impossible to acquire the Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.
