Many think there is purpose behind their birth.

Many think there is purpose behind their birth. This is true on the base of `ego ' which is false self. When one becomes aware of the fact that `I' is not the self and consciousness is the true self, then he becomes aware of the fact that the birth, life and death are part of the mirage, on the base of consciousness as self.  People who think and judge on the base of their birth entity will never be able to cross the threshold of duality, because they have accepted duality as reality.

Many think that the supreme consummation of life is union with the God. This may be the consummation of experience, but the true consummation is other than this. It is a direct knowledge that there is no power outside of the true self with whom to unite, that there is only one without a second, no other, and that is the soul, which is in the form of consciousness.

When one changes from within his outward mind-set and outlook also changes. One has to grasp this fact thoroughly that no change can occur in the physical level. If he could change through intellectual understanding, a man would undergo a transformation after listening to some sermon or after reading some book or after hearing some discourses on spirituality. But it does not come to pass. The question arises, why? The reason is that one is based on the physical based ideas and thought and never relay on the inner revelation. The intellectual understanding is never very deep. Until one learns to view and judge the worldview on the inner core [consciousness] no real change can be wrought. Thus rectifying the seeking base is necessary to assimilate the self-knowledge. Character is formed by inner urges based on the form. The illusion all arise from the formless core. Thus it is necessary to view and judge the worldview on the base of the formless core which is consciousness, which is the true self.

There are two bases one is intellectual and the second is spiritual. The intellectual base is used for the worldly life. The spiritual base is for the understanding and assimilation of self- knowledge. Until the intellectual base is rectified to the spiritual base, there can be no grasping of the nondual truth.   Thus one has to understand when he views and judges the worldview on the base of physical body as self, he cannot think beyond duality.  If he views and judges the worldview without the physical body, that is, as formless self, then the truth will start unfolding on its own.

The eyes cannot perceive consciousness

The Gnani is the one who has realized the self is not the form but self is formless. He is released from experiencing duality as reality because he observes the worldview on the base of the consciousness, which is the true self. He is fully aware of “what is truth” and what is false in the midst of waking experience. He lives in the world but he is not of the world in the midst of waking experience. He always revels in the non dual bliss of the true Self. He has no identification with the body and the world within the waking/dream. Hence he has no idea of enjoyment or enjoyer when he exhausts the residue of his action within the waking/dream. He has no idea of action or agency. He roams about happily without attachment to duality, with a balanced mind and an equal vision. His state is indescribable. He is fully aware of the fact that his body and his experience of the world are mere mirage created out of consciousness.  For him everything is consciousness nothing but consciousness.

A Gnani is a great spiritual spring. He is an enlightened soul who has knowledge of the Self, which is in the form of consciousness. He is pre-eminent amongst men. He is the conqueror of the mind. He is absolutely free from experiencing duality as reality.

For a Gnani there is no distinction between a rogue and a saint, gold and stone, high and low, man and woman, man and animal, censure and praise, honor and dishonor. He beholds the one Self everywhere. He sees consciousness in everyone and everywhere in the three states. As he is mindless, all differences and barriers have vanished from him.

In the vast ocean of consciousness of non-dual bliss, the Gnani neither sees nor hears. He remains in the tranquility of consciousness and in its non-dual nature. He sees true –self as second less as natural state. His vision or experience is beyond description. He has attained supreme quiescence. He is ever peaceful. He is of a pure nature. He has realized true self to be pure-consciousness alone. He is ever resting at perfect ease in the pleasure-garden of his own self.

The eyes cannot perceive consciousness. The mind cannot reach consciousness. The gross worldly intellect cannot grasp consciousness . The speech cannot describe conciousness. The speech returns back along with the mind, as it is not able to describe consciousness in adequate terms because it exist in its true form prior to the appearance of the mind, which is in the form of universe.

Gnani's say "They are baffled in their efforts to describe consciousness. Consciousness is indescribable. To describe consciousness or soul is to deny his own existence." How can a finite mind grasp the infinite? But consciousness can be directly realized by that aspirant who is equipped with the sharp, subtle and pure intellect and learn to view and judge the worldview on the true base.

The waking is parallel dream. And dream is parallel waking experience.

Everybody has got a world of their own within the waking/dream. The monkey or the dog has got its own world. A deaf man, a blind man, a madman, a savage, a genius, a mystic, a child, a seeker, a thief, a billionaire and a peasant—all have their own respective worlds within the waking/dream. Everyone lives in each others waking or dream. The waking is parallel dream. And the dream is a parallel waking experience.

One, who is immersed in ignorance of the true self, will not be able to realize the ultimate truth. Only through self-knowledge the ignorance vanishes.

The real self' is the eternal soul, which is in the form of consciousness. The real self' is destitute of change, whereas the mind' [waking/dream] is constantly changing. The mind '/waking/dream is a mirage. How can then the mind ' be the ever pure consciousness?

As soon as one realizes that self is not the form but self is formless   then he becomes free from experiencing the illusory birth, life, death and the universe as reality.   The true self is free from the bondage of Karma, from the fetters of desires, from the mirage of this mundane life and its concomitant evils and miseries.

One sees the clouds. The clouds move continuously but their moment is within the waking/dream. If one takes a photograph, he sees the Clouds in the picture, but there is no motion of clouds in the picture. Motion is a mental creation within the waking/dream.

Motion means duality.  Motion is mind. The object appears to move only. Motion is an illusion. Behind the objects that move there is the absolutely motionless consciousness which witnesses the motion. Consciousness is still, it is all-pervading, and Infinite.  Consciousness is everywhere, because it is all-pervading and infinite.

If a man knows formless Consciousness as the innermost self here, he then attains the non-dual goal of his mission

If a man knows  formless Consciousness as the innermost self  here, he then attains the non-dual goal of his mission. If he does not know it here, he remains ignorance experiencing the cycle of birth, life and death as reality. Having realized the Self in every being, the wise relinquish the world and become immortal.
Consciousness is not known by those who know it; it is known by those who do not know it.  That is when one says he knows Consciousness; he is saying it as a person. The Consciousness cannot be applied only to the individuality but to the whole experience [three states]. But in reality the person and world created out of Consciousness, thus nothing exits other than Consciousness. Thus if one says he knows Consciousness as a person, he is making a wrong statement. One must know Consciousness as the formless clay of the three states [whole].
Consciousness is known when it is realized in every state of mind; for by such Knowledge one attains Immortality. By Consciousness one obtains strength; by Knowledge, Immortality
The self is not an individual it pervades in everything and everywhere in all the three states. Holding the self as an individual is cause of ignorance.  And ignorance is cause of experiencing the duality as reality.  The self is in the form of formless consciousness. Therefore self is not the form but it is formless.
Consciousness is indeed below. Consciousness is above. Consciousness is in front. Consciousness is behind. Consciousness is inside and outside. Consciousness is all in all because there is no second thing other than consciousness in the universe, which is in the form of the mind.   "He who identifies the consciousness as self attains Immortality.
The consciousness is not an object of perception. It is always the knowing subject. There is neither an agent nor an object of action, nor an instrument. In the waking/dream only there is the triad, viz., seer, sight and seen.

 Who can know the knower?

How should one know knower by whom he knows all this?

One can not see the seer of sight. One can not hear the hearer of the hearing. One   cannot perceive the perceiver of perception. One   cannot know the knower of knowledge. Because it is the formless substance and witness of the mind, which appears as waking or dream
Consciousness the true self is non-doer, non-enjoyer and unattached.  Gnani is free from the egoistic notions; his reason is not affected by ego he is not bound by the illusion/duality.

The three states have no separate existence apart the source from where they arise and subside

The three states have no separate existence apart the source from where they arise and subside.  The source itself is the true self, which is the formless knower of three states which comes and goes in succession.
Ego is not the self but the Consciousness is the true self. Many people are not even aware what is Consciousness; though knowing of it, many do not comprehend. Only few expound the knowledge of Consciousness and very rare assimilate and realize it.  It is all because of their inherited religious and social background and grooming.
There is a need to dismantle the inherited physical structure mentally to overcome the duality. The whole physical structure is built on the foundation of the ‘I’. Since they think the ‘I’ as Consciousness, it becomes difficult to grasp and assimilate and realize the non-dual truth.
The ‘I’, appears and disappears as mind. Mind is in the form of waking/dream is impermanent; hence it is not the self. The formless knower of the ‘I’ or waking or dream is the true self. Since people think whatever is propagated by the guru/yogi as ultimate truth and blindly accept it as truth, without verifying the validity of their preaching. This blind acceptance becomes a big hindrance in pursuit of truth. If one is seeking truth, one has to verify the validity of any claim through inquiry, analysis and reasoning on the true base, and accept only un -contradictable truth.
Self-knowledge when taught by an unqualified person is not easily comprehended, because it is diversely regarded by disputants. But when it is taught by him who has become one with Consciousness, there can remain no more doubt about It. Consciousness is subtler than the subtlest and not to be known through argument.
Self- Knowledge cannot be attained by egocentric reasoning. Consciousness becomes easy of comprehension, soul-centric reasoning. One has to attain self- Knowledge right now in this very life not in next world or next life.
Gnani, by means of concentration on the true Self, realizes that ancient, effulgent hidden and which dwells and pervades in everything and everywhere in all the three states as its formless substance and witness.
The knowing the consciousness is not born; It does not die. It has not sprung from anything; nothing has sprung from It. Birthless, eternal, everlasting and ancient, it is not killed when the body is killed or when the world disappears.  If the murderer thinks he kills and if the killed man thinks he is killed, neither of these apprehends aright. The Self kills not, nor is it killed.
Consciousness exists in smaller than the small, greater than the great, and is hidden in the three states as its formless substance and witness. A man who is free from viewing and judging the worldview on the base of ‘I’ beholds the Self through tranquility and becomes free from experiencing the duality as reality.
Gnani, having realized Consciousness as dwelling within impermanent states is bodiless, pervades the three states as its formless substance and witness and permanent and eternal.
Self-knowledge cannot be acquired by the study of the scriptures, or by intelligence, or by much hearing of sacred books. It is attained by him alone whom It chooses. To such a one Consciousness reveals its own form.
He who has not rectified his reasoning  base from the ‘I’[form] base to soul[formless] base , who does not have the intense urge to know the non-dual truth and who is not tranquil and subdued and whose mind is not receptive , cannot acquire Self-Knowledge . It is realized only through inquiry, analysis and reasoning on the true base.

Thus it is for the seeker to know what appears as duality (waking or dream)and what disappears as non duality (deep sleep).

The cause and origin of the three states is  formless soul, the innermost self.  The soul, the innermost self is present in the form of consciousness.  Consciousness  appears as waking or dream(duality) and disappears as deep sleep (non-duality). Thus it is for the seeker to know what appears as duality (waking or dream)and what disappears as non duality (deep sleep).

The body and the world exist  only in duality (waking or dream).  They are non-existent in non duality (deep sleep). To unfold this mystery,  one has to know 'what is the mind?' and 'what is the substance of the mind?' and 'what is the source of the mind?'

Only in duality (waking) one knows that he exists, in deep sleep the objective existence is absent.

One is aware of his body and sees his body moving and thinking. But he is unaware of the fact that he and his experience of the world are within the experience of duality (waking).

One has to realize the fact that the body also moving and thinking and being in all sorts of places in the dream while it is actually lying fast asleep. The dream is reality until waking takes place. The waking also is reality until the wisdom dawns.

So long as one is in the realm of duality, one has to explain how or why one thing came from another; and contradictory views are expressed. But when a Gnani show- there is no second, there is no production, and the contradictions do not arise at all, when the ultimate thing is consciousness alone. Thus consciousness is ultimate truth or Brahman.

The dualists’ arguments are based on false self (ego or waking entity) and false experience (waking or dream or universe)   to show the weakness of the position of dualistic view point.  They at their wits end to explain.

Existence cannot be a cause and effect at the same time, from the point of view of the dualists, but deeper self-search shows the Existent is no-two and causality can’t rise at all. Dualistic theory says that whatever was in the cause was also in the effect. They say that the gold brick, the gold medal, the gold ornaments --are in the seed--the gold. Deeper self-search reveals the fact that, if cause and effect are one what is the difference between the two?

Love, happiness and misery are part of the illusory reality.

Through love one cannot reach god because love implies duality. Loves is possible between the two. In reality there is no second thing.  Thus love is emotional tool within the duality and it has its value within the threshold duality. Thus love is tool prescribed by the religion for the mass to live in peace and harmony in the worldly life.

Love, happiness and misery are part of the illusory reality. Love, happiness and misery are one in essence . That essence is  formless consciousness(soul), the innermost self.  Creation is neither good nor bad; it is as it is because it is illusory reality.  Until we think duality as reality we bound to experience the burden and bondage as reality.

It is the human mind which puts all sorts of constructions on it, as it sees things from its own angle and as it suits its own interests within the illusion. Not becoming aware of the fact that experience of diversity which consists of man and universe is mere illusion is the causes of all the misery in the world.

Within the waking experience  one feels  the world is a  creation. And world existed prior to him and he is born in the world afterwards. But in reality there is neither creation, nor creator because the universe ,which one calls it as creation  is created out of single formless clay.   Illusion is like cloud and it continues to move and when it is enlightened with coolness it vanishes and realizes it is mere water.

It is the human mind that created all difficulties in realizing the truth of its true existence, by imagining all sorts of theories based on the form to realize the formless reality. One has to realize the fact that the formless is prior to the form, how can one realize the truth, by theories   based on the form [body], which cease to exit without  the world and world ceases to  exist without waking/dream . And waking dream cease to exit without the formless witness.  Thus the waking /dream which consist of the man and world are dependent on the formless for its existence.

The idea of god is creation of man. Man worship god in duality /illusion. Man and the world do not exist in reality, because they are the part of the mirage created out of spirit /soul. Therefore whatever man sees, knows, believes and experiences of the world is part of the mirage. Thus the godly business is reality due to inherited ignorance. For the truth seeker the truth itself is god. That is the soul/true self/spirit/Ataman itself is god.

Waking or dream appears on its own and it disappears on its own

The mind is in the form of universe. Universe appears as waking or dream. Waking or dream appears on its own and it disappears on its own.  The happening within the universe are reality within the universe. When a person within the universe realizes the fact that, the individual is not the self but the self, which is in the form of consciousness pervades in everything and everywhere within the universe and  than he realizes the diversity experienced as universe is mere mirage created out of consciousness.

Thus diversity or universe is falsehood and the formless substance and witness of the universe is real and eternal.    Therefore, there is no truth is birth, life and death or form, time and space or past present and future because all these are reality within the realm of form and unreality in the realm of formless.

The consciousness is the one witness and really ever free, because all the three states are mere mirage to it. Thus it is unaffected by the happening individual experiences such as birth, life and death or pain and pleasure within the waking or dream.   Thus man and his experience of the world are reality until man becomes aware of the fact that he is not the self but the true self is formless soul, which is in the form of consciousness. Since he has the inherited conditioned conviction that, he is and individual apart from the world, and world existed prior to him and he is born in it afterwards. Until this conviction is there he will base himself on his birth entity and view and judge everything on the base of the birth entity, which is not the self.   When he realizes the true self is not the form but formless then all the doubts and confusion of his existence props up.

In the waking or dream, the objects of experience like sound, touch etc are varied and different from each other

In the waking or dream, the objects of experience like sound, touch etc are varied and different from each other. The one which is aware of the coming and going of the waking or dream is apart from them and is consciousness.  Thus the experience of diversity is created out of single stuff, which is consciousness. Thus everything in diversity is mere mirage created out of consciousness. Thus the form and names within the duality has no value therefore, everything is one without the division of forms and names.

Man experiences the world within the waking or dream. The world is reality for man within the world. The man and world are unreality for the formless witness of the three states, which is also the formless substance of the three states. Thus the individual experiences such as birth, life, death and the world or pain and pleasure are mere illusion from the ultimate standpoint.  Thus basing on the waking entity and judging the truth is erroneous because the self is neither the waking entity not the dream entity bit the self is the formless witness of all the three states.

Thus 'I' and 'I Am' which is limited to the waking experience or dream is not the self, because the consciousness which is the true self, pervades all the three states as their formless substance and witness.   Thus, all the sense organs belong to the physical entity. And physical entity is reality within the waking experience, but the waking experience itself is unreal from the ultimate standpoint.

The difference within waking or dream does not affect their formless witness in any way. Within the waking or dream the objects may be different from each other. But there is a single witness of them all because the witness witnesses the waking or dream as a whole.

When one says 'I hear', 'I touch', 'I see', etc. the hearing, touching and seeing are experiences within the waking or dream but all these are experiences experienced by the false self within the false experience, because within the waking or dream the physical apparatus is considered as self, whereas the true self has no physical apparatus.   Thus all the experiences are falsehood.

The three states are an object to the subject, which is consciousness.  The objects are also different. But the 'consciousness ' that knows them all one and the same in and through all the experiences. Only within the waking or dream one is able to know distinctions like form, time and space and pain and pleasure, etc. But the knower is undivided and undifferentiated in and through all the experiences of the three states.

Formless knower [witness] is not differentiated from the known. It is because the knower and the known are one and the same. Since the experiences are varied when do we know the formless knower, to be undifferentiated?

When self is mentally separated from the three states after realizing the subject object relation.   The Consciousness is hidden within the three states as their form less substance. Consciousness is apart from the three states as their formless witness.  It is apart because it is neither the waking entity not it is the dream entity but the formless witness of all the three states.

When the three states, which are mere object to the formless subject is dropped mentally, then the Consciousness alone prevails in its formless nondual true nature.
It is just like one and the same water becoming snow, and cloud. The substance is one and the same. If it is not cloud or snow it remains as water. In the same way, without the three states consciousness alone prevails because all the three states are mere mirage created out of consciousness.

The three states come and go in succession but the knowing principle, the Awareness, remains one and the same in all the three states. The formless, witness, who is in the form of consciousness, remains same through all the experiences.

The dream is parallel waking and waking is parallel dream. The formless knower that knows the coming and going of the three states is one.  Thus on the base of the formless knower the three states are mere mirage. When the mirage is mentally dropped after realization of their unreal nature, the duality will never be experienced as reality again.

The unreal nature of the experience of form, space, time & objects within the dream becomes unreal when waking takes place. The reality of the unreal nature of   form time and space of the waking experience is exposed when the waking entity becomes aware of the fact that, it itself  is not the self, but the true self is that which sees all the three states as passing show.

The form, time and space are reality within the waking or dream. But from the standpoint from the formless sources from where they arise and subside they are non-existent.  The formless source is consciousness. The consciousness is the true self. Waking or dream or mere mirage created out of the consciousness.  The nature of the Consciousness is oneness.  Thus the waking or dream not differs from each other because they are mere mirage created out of consciousness. Thus they are both are one in essence.

The witness, the Consciousness, in the waking is not different from the one in the dream. The waking objects are varied but their witness is one and the same. The dream objects are varied but their witness is one and the same. In other words the witness of the waking and the dream is one and the same.

In deep sleep state there is a continuity of the Consciousness. In the deep sleep state the witness is in its formless nondual true nature that is, it is in self-awareness.  In waking or dream it is ignorant of its true nature.  Thus there is emptiness in the deep sleep. This cognition is recollected by when it is again enters in to state of ignorance and wakes up as waking or. Dream entity .thus it is erroneous to view and judge the worldview on the waking entity because the witness is present in all the three states.

To overcome all the doubts and confusion one has to mentally trace the existence of the formless witness, which sees all the three states, which comes and goes in succession. Without that witness the three states are non-existent because it is also the formless substance of the three states.   When the waking entity becomes aware of the fact that, it is not the self  but the self is the witness of the three states in the midst of waking experience, then  the form, time and space within the waking experience ceases to be real.  Thus the waking entity realizes the fact that form, time and space are mere division created out of consciousness. Thus the form, time and space are mere mirage created out of consciousness.  Thus there is no division is consciousness the divisions are mere mirage without the division there is only oneness.

The confusion arises when one says, 'During deep sleep there was neither waking nor dream. The whole waking or dream experiences were absent. But the formless witness was present. The witness was present without the waking or dream. In waking it was witnessing the waking as whole and in dream it was witnessing the dream as whole. The individual happenings within the waking or dream are nothing to do with the formless witness. Thus judging the truth on the base of individual happening within the waking or dream is erroneous, because the witness is neither the waking entity nor the dream entity but the one that witnesses the waking or dream as a whole without the physical apparatus.

Man experiences the world within the waking or dream. The dream is an experience. Similarly the waking also is an experience.  The dream becomes unreal when waking takes place. The waking and dream becomes unreal in deep sleep. The one which is aware of the three states is hidden within the three states but it is without the three states. It is hidden within the three states as their formless substance and it is without the three states as their formless witness.  Thus mentally tracing the formless substance and witness of the three states is necessary, in order to realize the substance and witness are one in essence. And that essence is consciousness.

Thus it is very necessary to investigate “what is it that, becomes waking or dream?” and “what is it that becomes deep sleep?” rather than  finding answers for the meaning of life or inquiring “Who am I?”, What am I?’, “Whence am I?” which are helpful in preliminary stages on pursuit of truth.  The pursuit of truth is to know the truth of the whole not the part.  Birth, life and death takes place with is the world. The world is reality within he waking experience but the waking experience itself is mere mirage.  By knowing with what this mirage, which is in the form of mind or universe came to existence one becomes aware of the ultimate truth.

Consciousness is being identified by another name "Nothingness", because truly if there was Nothingness in the end, there must be one "final witness" to that Nothingness.

By analyzing the three states - waking, dream and deep sleep,  one becomes aware of the existence of the formless witness. The soul is the formless witness. The soul  is  in form  the  consciousness. The consciousness is the innermost  self.  And consciousness is the formless substance and witness of the three states.

The mind is in the form of universe. Universe appears as waking or dream. Universe and all  its contents are truly this at its core, but have seemingly forgotten about their true nature, in the present state of duality, which is caused by ignorance of the reality.

The non-dual awareness is not an individual experience but it is the nature of the consciousness, which is the true self.  Consciousness pervades all the three states thus the self is not limited to the waking entity or waking world or dream entity or dream world.  Consciousness is the formless witness of all the three states and witnesses the waking or dream experience as a whole without the physical apparatus.

This uninterrupted non-dual self-awareness  is achievable by every being in this life itself, once he/she realizes this and works towards discarding the "unreal” by discriminating between real and unreal mentally.

Consciousness, which is the “true self”, does not have birth, life and death. It has not taken birth and it will not take birth. It is beyond birth, life and death, it is immortal, and it is ancient, it does not perish when the mind, which is in the form of universe, perishes. The universe or mind is like the wave of the see but not the sea, which is the “true self” or consciousness.

Consciousness cannot be cut, cannot be burnt, cannot be melted; neither can be dried. It is eternal, unmoveable, unlike the universe or mind which perishes.   It is the cause of duality. It is the consciousness or self, which oversees the duality or the universe or the mind.

The consciousness projects itself as the inherent power of the universe.  The self-i.e., Consciousness is the essence of all happenings and circumstances in, which the seeker attempts to know the truth of his true existence.

All experiences of individual actions, conducts happenings are within the universe are mere mirage created out of the true self, which is consciousness. All the conceivable actions and happenings are attributable to the true self in the form consciousness.

Consciousness is real and consciousness is both real and unreal because the unreal universe or mind is erupted out of the real, which is consciousness. Whoever does not know the truth that the self is consciousness, falls prey to his ignorance and suffers by experiencing the illusory pain and pleasure as reality.

All the experiences of  happenings such as birth, life and death, good or bad pain and pleasure, past ,present and future are mere mirage created out of consciousness itself . When wisdom dawns, the ignorance vanishes and   the consciousness alone prevails as eternal reality.

Self-Knowledge is achievable without the grace of any guru or conceptual god or the mercy of some god men. Seeker has to simply wake up to the Reality [consciousness], which is the formless substance and witness of the unreality [universe or mind].

At the end of the quest the seeker becomes aware of the fact that, the true self is formless consciousness.  There is nothing exists other than consciousness. Thus consciousness is Ultimate Reality or Brahman.

Consciousness is being identified by another name "Nothingness", because truly if there was Nothingness in the end, there must be one "final witness" to that Nothingness.

Consciousness infuse life and activity into the waking or dream world .

To explain to beginners   to study the path of truth in layman’s language and as brief as possible is a hurricane task. One has to indulge in pursuit of truth without using religion, scriptures, yoga and god glorification, how would they do, when they   firmly think a guru , god men , pundit as source of Self-Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.

Part of the readiness of any person to listen to any kind of knowledge, including worldly knowledge, is the willingness to hear and the necessity to ask for that specific knowledge.

Preaching is not teaching. Someone willing to know the truth must realize the fact that, there is “no need to study the Scriptures, or  indulge in religious rituals or  serving the physical  guru    and there is no need practice yoga in order to acquire  Self-Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.

The nature of the innermost  self is non-doer ship, and the qualification `self ' to elevate its non-dual nature in the waking  experience , to bring unity in diversity.  That is to say, just as the one sun lights up the entire universe, so does the  Consciousness infuse life and activity into the waking or dream world .

Through different mental apparatuses, the Self appears to manifest itself differently in different bodies, but it is for the seeker to realize the fact that, the man and the world appears within the waking or dream. Without the waking or dream, the man and the world cease to exist. Thus, waking or dream are mental states, and they are impermanent in nature. Thus seeker has to indulge in deeper thinking through inquiry, analysis and reasoning to get the firm conviction about these facts.

Nevertheless, like the sun, the Self neither performs the actions pertaining to the bodies nor does it cause them to be performed, nor is it tainted by evils like duality or partiality etc. because all man is the doer within the world and world exits within the waking or dream. The self is the formless witness of the three states.  That to immortal Self ever remains pure, conscious action-less, immutable, unchanged, impartial and stainless under every circumstance.

Dispelling one's ignorance is important for the realization of the non-dual truth or Advaitic or ultimate truth. The means of dispelling ignorance is possible only through perfect understanding derived from inquiry, analysis and reasoning on the true base.

By means of non-dual wisdom one is able to realize that man and the world are within the experience of duality (waking or dream) and waking and dream is an object  to the formless soul, innermost  self,  which is the subject.

Waking or dream  is knowable, subject to change, perishable, mutable, material and transient; whereas the Soul or consciousness ,which is the innermost   self  is its knower, conscious, changeless, action-less, eternal, imperishable, unattached, pure, of the same stuff as Knowledge, and one; that the two being wholly diverse in character.

The innermost  self or soul is entirely different from the `waking or dream or duality; that the apparent identity of. The two is rooted in ignorance; that, in reality, the `innermost  self or soul ' has no connection whatsoever with the `waking or dream or duality.  This is what is meant by perceiving with the eye of wisdom the difference between the `waking or dream or duality  or  mind ' and the `the formless witness or soul or consciousness.

Consciousness is the true self and it is the Knower and the Known, the Seer and the Seen, without any duality.

The consciousness is the true self and non-duality is pure nature of the consciousness. To capture the essence of non-dual reality, where witness and the witnessed are identical, it is only pure consciousness that by which its very nature is self-revealing and self-knowing.

True nature of the self is “without the three states”. It is the absence three states and presence of fullness of consciousness in its true form which allows for the clear recognition of the Self.

Consciousness is the true self and it is the Knower and the Known, the Seer and the Seen, without any duality.  Self, being one without a second, is always self-knowing. There is no “other” for it to know. That is why it is refer to the Self as the natural. The reference to natural implies the non dual nature of the Self.

While deep sleep is a state of complete unconsciousness.  The true state is the state of full and complete consciousness. Deep sleep is still the state of ignorance. And a true state of consciousness is the state of self-awareness. In a very real and true sense the true state of the consciousness is the state of “deep awake”. The self is fully asleep to the world of perceptions and fully awake in its true nature, which is non-dual consciousness.

The true nature   of consciousness cannot be understood without self-knowledge. But it is not impossible to understand it. People who speak about true nature of the self without the being aware of the fact that self is not physical can only speculate about its nature. Because such people are confused about nature of the self, their statements create confusion for others.

The three states can continue to exist and function after acquiring self-knowledge. But for Gnani all the three states are unrelated, because he has become one with the witnessing consciousness.

After Self-Realization, the duality is seen as existing but not separate from the Self. The Self knows itself even though the duality still exists.  The duality exists as a condition that rises from the Self and then is absorbed back into it. It is due to the presence of the duality, (until it disappears by death), that Knowledge of the Self can be passed on by the Realized beings to others who seek such knowledge.
