There is really no ‘I’ or mind or universe or waking because it dies in deep sleep

What is ‘I’?

Deeper  self -search reveals the fact that 'I' is mind and   mind is not limited to the physical entity but 'mind ' is the whole universe. the universe appears as waking or dream.  thus 'I' the whole universe ,which appears as waking.

The ‘I’ or mind or  universe or waking  disappears in deep sleep, so what is the use of being attached to it?

There is really no ‘I’ or mind or universe or waking  because  it dies in deep sleep. But the notion of its unreality will gradually grasped by the receptive seekers when  he realizes the fact   Individuality is part of  illusory reality.

As person perceiving the world one is ignorant of the fact that the ‘I’  or mind comes and goes as waking or dream and has no permanent existence because it  is only a mirage after all.

Consciousness is the innermost self that which knows everything, that which sees. Consciousness  alone remains after it  gets rid of waking or dream by identification with its  true nature. Soul or consciousness  is the seer. consciousness is formless and non-dual in its true nature .  consciousness is cause of everything that exist as universe and it itself is uncaused.   thus the whole universe and its contents are nothing but consciousness . thus consciousness is ultimate truth or Brahman.

There must be a perceiver which knows that the whole universe  is mere  illusions.  Imaginations are possible only in duality. Even when one say he exists he exists as a person in within the illusory universe.

That, which becomes conscious of universe , is the seer or witness, the consciousness, the Knower.  No one has ever seen the consciousness , for it is never an object. Hence logic, inference, cannot be applied to it, because intellect, logic is for objective world and waking experience only, the state where one infers effects from causes. The greatest mistake is considering the duality[universe or waking]  as reality, to confuse the object with the subject. There is no proof that the seer is confined to waking  or dream. It is universal because it pervades all the three states.

If the knower also had been changing along with the changes, how could it ever have known of the changes? It is only that which is known which is changing, otherwise it could not have been known. Those who say the self is also changing are uttering words without meaning. How could one know whether anything is changing unless there were something which itself did not change and could thus note the changes?

One knows of no changes in the consciousness, the innermost self; one knows only the changes in what is perceived by the consciousness. When one realize the nature of  the true self, he knows the Real can never change, hence never die. Death is only in the region of the "seen or duality or waking or illusion ."

That of which one is aware and which is nearer to him is the Formless Witness. Yet no statement can be made about it. All words will concern ideas about it, i.e. seen [waking/dream]-never the Formless Witness of the seen.

Without the individual self one could never think. Through such thinking he is able to prove the existence of Atman or consciousness, for the individual is finally identical with the  consciousnesses or Atman.

If the unchanging had also been changing, then the fact of change would never be perceptible to one. The Formless Witness never alters and is thus the true witness.

The Formless Witness( Atman or soul or consciousness)  is immortal, because one sees change always in seen or waking or dream. One never sees it in Formless Witness because he never sees Formless Witness. Hence one cannot ascribe mortality to Formless Witness as we can to seen (waking or dream). He can only remain silent about it.

Everything of which one is aware is he is aware within the duality (waking or dream). As the ego is something of which one is aware is part of the duality (waking or dream).

Whatever one says about consciousness, the innermost self , it is only a thought or word, i.e. a seen [waking/dream]. Reason when applied to seen [waking/dream he can grasp it; but it can never grasp the Formless Witness.

Reason can tell you the Formless Witness is there, but it cannot grasp it. This is the limit of reason. But the Formless Witness is always there; it cannot be known, or understood because knowing implies a second thing. But in all acts of knowledge, the Formless Witness is there when you are thinking, you are therefore seeking Atman. Hence Atman is known only in idealessness. It is impossible to be free from Atman, for it is impossible for any thought to arise without it.

One must analyze himself and see that whenever there is it seen (waking or dream), there must be the Formless Witness which is aware of it. When he sees this, he knows the consciousness the innermost self. Hence Formless Witness- three states  analysis is so fundamental and so difficult.

People wrongly think that the ego is the Witness, even though the ego vanishing along with the waking or dream.

When one inquire and reasons deeply enough the ego disappears he finds there are no separate individuals at all, there is no variety of beings, all are really the undivided consciousness.

Birth, life and death are the part and parcel of the practical world ,which is present as Waking experience.

All the attributes are mere illusion. It is the Self that is in illusion and it is the self that has to get free from the bondage of the illusion. The illusion is present in the form of mind. Mind is in the form of universe. Universe appears as waking or dream and disappears as deep sleep.  The individual experiences of birth, life, death and the world are within the waking experience.  The dream is parallel waking experience and waking is parallel dream.

Deeper self-search reveals the fact that the, self is neither the waking entity nor the self is the dream entity but the self is formless soul, which witnesses the coming and going of the three states in succession without the physical apparatus.  This has to be mentally grasped and assimilated to realize the formless soul, the innermost   self is nothing to do with the three states. On the standpoint of the formless soul, the innermost self, the three states are mere illusion.

The practical life within the practical world, which is present as waking experience, is mere illusion. If waking experience is mere illusion than the individual experience of birth, life, death and world are mere illusion.   If the experience birth, life death and the world are mere illusion, it means the form; time and space are mere illusion.  If form, time and space are mere illusion, it means the past, present and future is mere illusion. Thus it is necessary for the seeker to realize the fact that,   form, time and space are one in essence, in order to realize the three states are one in essence. That essence is consciousness. Thus all the diversity is created out of   formless consciousness. Thus no second thing exist other than consciousness, the innermost self. Seeker of truth has to constantly reflect on the subject in order to get firm conviction of the truth.  Seeker has to reflect on the same truth again and again until it becomes reality. One needs to constant reflect on the subject until he gets firm conviction of what is what.-FORMLESS PATH

Birth,  life and death  are the part and parcel of the  practical world ,which is present as  Waking experience. Every person perceiving this world has to undergo the experience of pleasure and pain and the ups and downs of  the practical life within the practical world.  The Waking experience is more or less is the web of the pain and unhappiness and misfortune. To escape from this web of experience man rushes blindly into innumerable methods and paths to enter into happiness which, will not pass away.

Man tries to discover the way to escape from the experience of the hide and seek of happiness and establish in eternal unbroken happiness by which the burden and bondage can be destroyed.

The quest for a permanent remedy to acquire permanent happiness or abiding peace is not a foolish dream. Self-knowledge  is the only answer by which man can overcome from the experience of duality which is present as Waking experience. By which man will be able to establish himself in the unending peace and bliss of  the formless soul ,which is the innermost self.

Perfect understanding  leads the seeker of the truth to the glorious realization of the acquirement of the right knowledge and understanding.

To unfold the mystery of the mind seeker has to learn to view and judge the worldview  on the standpoint of the soul which the innermost  Self. Soul, which is in the form of consciousness is the formless substance and the witness of the three states.

When one becomes aware of the fact that, the   'Self'  is not a man but  formless  soul or consciousness , therefore self is not the physical body to claim as he or she, but the formless soul  which is the  source  from which the universe   or the mind  has erupted.

The mind or universe appears as waking or dream [duality] and disappears as deep sleep (non-duality).  Keeping all these facts   in view,   one has to constantly reflect and assimilate the knowledge of  the soul ,which is the innermost self .

Most of the  FP &IP blogs  are the inner revelation  derived from the deeper self-search. The seeker has to verify from every aspect and every angle before accepting as truth.

FP& IP blogs  helps as a signpost to  the seeker of the truth to realize the truth of the true existence, without the help of any religious doctrine and physical based practices. The seeker of the truth can directly assimilate the knowledge without the hardship and the help of the complicated methods that which does not yield any definite results.

The seeker need not fear about the fear created by the conceptual religions or conceptual gods. Following religion and believing god is nothing to do with the the formless  soul ,which the innermost self.

Every aspect  of doubts and confusion are addressed and  explained  on  each and every point to clear the confusion and doubts of the seeker to free from the fear injected by the religious injections and help him  to remove all the fetters and barricades of ignorance.

The seeker has to first  accept the fact that,  soul ,which is in the form of consciousness  as true self and then only indulge in the pursuit of truth.

The inner most self has to wake up from the illusory state of ignorance, to realize, it is without the body and without the experience of the world.

The waking entity within the waking experience not aware of the formless witness of the three states because the waking experience, itself is the state of ignorance.  The formless consciousness, which is the innermost self, witnesses the three states without the physical apparatus.

The witness is apart from three states because it not and entity or identity or thing within the waking or dream But it is the formless substance and witness of the three states.  the waking experience is the states of ignorance. The inner most self  has to wake up from the illusory state of ignorance, to realize,  it is without the body and without the experience of the world.

Limiting the consciousness to the waking entity is cause of the ignorance and it is caught in the web of physicality. Until seeker becomes aware of the fact that, the individual experience of the birth, life, death and the world are nothing to do  with the formless consciousness ,which is the innermost self because it is not an individual because it pervades everywhere and in everything in all the three states.

The love, compassion and virtues and service, conducts, service to human kind are most valuable in practical life within the practical world, but they are not qualification to acquire nondual wisdom. Only inner urge leads one towards venture to find the inner realities.

The   seeker has to realize the fact that:-

v  ‘I’ is not the self but 'I' is mind.

v  Mind is in the form of universe

v  Universe appears as waking or dream and disappears as deep sleep

The seeker  move deeper in his inner or mental journey because he  and his experience of the world are product of  ignorance . To get rid of the ignorance he has to overcome the inborn conviction, that he is an individual separate from the world and world existed prior to him and he is born in it in later date.  Until this inborn conditioning   which is present ‘I’ or ‘I AM’ is there the nondual truth is impossible to grasp. The ‘WHO AM ‘I’? and ‘I AM THAT  are the stages. The ultimate lies beyond ‘WHO AM ‘I’ or ‘I AM THAT’.   ‘WHO AM ‘I’ or ‘I AM THAT’ revels only half truth, that is the unreal nature of the physical entity or ego.  The truth will not reveal until one investigates the world confronts him.  It is necessary to understand, assimilate and realize  by perfect understanding of ‘ what is what'  to grasp to realize the ultimate truth or Brahman.

If one is seriously seeking truth than it is time to drop all the accumulated knowledge and sentimentalism and devotion towards their gurus or sages, which becomes great hindrance in acquiring   self-knowledge or Bramha Gnana or Atma Gnana.

Seeker need not condemn any guru or sage, his only aim is to acquire nondual wisdom on his own.

That is why Upanishads indicated:-

They alone in this world are endowed with the highest wisdom who are firm in their conviction of the sameness and birthlessness of Ataman. The ordinary man does not understand their way. (Chapter IV — Alatasanti Prakarana 95-P-188 in Upanishads by Nikilanada)

This citation  indicates the fact that everything is Ataman or spirit. The one who views and judges the worldview on the base of his birth  or body will not realize the fact that, the man including the world is created sustained and finally dissolves as Ataman. Thus Ataman alone is, and all else is mirage.

Sage  Sri, Sankara indicated that:- VC-56. Neither by Yoga, nor by Sankhya, nor by work, nor by learning, but by the realisation of one's identity with Brahman is Liberation possible, and by no other means.

58. Loud speech consisting of a shower of words, the skill in expounding the Scriptures, and likewise erudition - these merely bring on a little personal enjoyment to the scholar, but are no good for Liberation.

59. The study of the Scriptures is useless so long as the highest Truth is unknown, and it is equally useless when the highest Truth has already been known.

60. The Scriptures consisting of many words are a dense forest which merely causes the mind to ramble. Hence men of wisdom should earnestly set about knowing the true nature of the Self.

61. For one who has been bitten by the serpent of Ignorance, the only remedy is the knowledge of Brahman. Of what avail are the Vedas and (other) Scriptures, Mantras (sacred formulae) and medicines to such a one?

62. A disease does not leave off if one simply utter the name of the medicine, without taking it; (similarly) without direct realisation one cannot be liberated by the mere utterance of the word Brahman.

63. Without causing the objective universe to vanish and without knowing the truth of the Self, how is one to achieve Liberation by the mere utterance of the word Brahman? — It would result merely in an effort of speech.

64. Without killing one’s enemies, and possessing oneself of the splendour of the entire surrounding region, one cannot claim to be an emperor by merely saying, ‘I am an emperor’.

65. As a treasure hidden underground requires (for its extraction) competent instruction, excavation, the removal of stones and other such things lying above it and (finally) grasping, but never comes out by being (merely) called out by name, so the transparent Truth of the self, which is hidden by Maya and its effects, is to be attained through the instructions of a knower of Brahman, followed by reflection, meditation and so forth, but not through perverted arguments.

66. Therefore the wise should, as in the case of disease and the like, personally strive by all the means in their power to be free from the bondage of repeated births and deaths.

Thus  Sage Sri Sankara clearly indicated that: - yoga, intellectualism, scriptural mastery is not the means to self-knowledge.  But by the realization of one's identity with consciousness, which is ultimate truth or Brahman, freedom from experiencing the illusion as reality is possible, and by no other means.

The Seeker of truth has to get rid of his doubts through deeper inquiry, analysis and reasoning on his own, to realize the fact that, the self is not the form but self is formless. Thus his analysis and reasoning has to be based on the formless not on the form.  By simply go on believing and accepting whatever said by the punditry will not lead one towards path of wisdom. All the doubt has to be got rid of "by the sword of Self - Knowledge."  The scriptures, yoga are not necessary if one follows the inner [formless] path.  Religion and yoga are not the means to path of wisdom.

Thus Self-knowledge or Bramha Gnana or Atma Gnana  is the aim of every human being. Since everyone thinks the physical body is the self, their aim is misdirected and they focus their attention on materiality which makes one feel the duality (waking) as reality.

Self-Knowledgeor Bramha Gnana or Atma Gnana  is the aim of every human being. Since everyone thinks the physical body is the self their aim is misdirected and they focus their attention on materiality which makes one feel the duality (waking) as reality.

Therefore there is no need to study scriptures, or indulge in god and guru glorification or performing religious rituals.  Since, they are not the means to acquire non-dual wisdom. It is only waste of time and effort to indulge in those things.

The individual self is not real, is not accepted by many.  The nondual wisdom is based not on the individual self [ego].  Until people hold the ‘I’ [ego] as witness, they will not reach the ultimate understanding.

    • Santthosh Kumaar If there is a play than there has to be a player and playground. when the play, player and playground are made of single stuff , than one realizes there is neither the play nor the player nor the playground, there is only oneness. thus there is no one to play. It is non-dual existence.
