If you seek reality you must set yourself free of all backgrounds, of all cultures, of all patterns of thinking and feeling.

Nisargadatta Maharaj :- If you seek reality you must set yourself free of all backgrounds, of all cultures, of all patterns of thinking and feeling. Even the idea of being man or woman, or even human should be discarded.

The waking experience is the states of ignorance. Waking entity  is ignorant of the innermost self.

Why does one assert the blissful, ever-existent soul (consciousness), which is within the three states as its formless clay and is evidently apart from it as its formless witness? The three states are absolutely non-existent in the realm of the true self which is consciousness or soul.

The seeker of truth has to know, with the help of soul-centric reasoning , the true Self, which is different from the three states, not a void but the very form of existence, and very difficult for persons who view and judge the  three states on the base of ‘ego’.

The true self is not  the  ego or waking entity  but it is  the formless  soul ,which is present in the form of consciousness .

The  formless soul , the innermost self  is the subject of perception whereas the ego, body and the world is the object. This is learnt from the fact that,  when one speaks of the body, ego he says, “This is mine.” So how can this body and ego be the self?

It is a fact of the direct realization of the “Soul, the innermost self  is without any change, whereas the mind (waking or dream) is always undergoing changes. So how can this body be self, which is present only within the mind (waking or dream)?

Gnana is   ascertained the real nature of the formless  soul, the innermost self  through deeper self-search. “There is nothing higher than the formless  soul, the  innermost self.  So how can this body be the self, when the body and the world are present only when the mind is present.  The mind is present in the form of the universe. The universe appears as waking or dream and diapers as deep sleep. The one which is aware of the coming and going of the three states is neither the waking entity nor the dream entity but the formless soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.  When the soul becomes aware of its formless nondual true nature in the midst of duality it is called self –awareness. It is foolish to limit the consciousness only to duality because the consciousness pervades all the three states

All the three states are verily the consciousness” because they are created out of consciousness. So how can this  waking entity  be self, when the self is neither the  waking entity  nor the self is dream entity but the self is the formless soul, which witnesses the coming and going of the three states without the physical apparatus.

The formless soul, the innermost  self is completely unattached” from the three states (mind), because true self is not an entity or identity within the three states (mind). How can this waking entity  be the self, when the waking entity  exists only within the waking experience.

Gaudapada’s rational exposition of Advaita: - that whatever is seen, whether external or internal, whether by the ordinary persons or yogis, is unreal.

The Vedas recognizes the “reality” both in its formless and manifest aspects, but today, the Vedic science and philosophy is demeaned, distorted and reduced by measuring it through an religious framework.

Theism is in the traditional sense; it is the belief in at least one God. Monotheism is defined as the belief in only one god and polytheism is defined as belief in many gods.

Some organized religions follow monotheism where God is the supreme and none except him. These god centric faiths follow a particular code of conducts that the ‘believer’ has to follow without questioning. He cannot question those rules, the life of the sage or the ultimate God. The individualized gods God is isolated from the nature and everything is GOD’s. Thus an element of attachment with a name and gender, obstruction to free thinking and free will can be seen in all belief systems.

History speaks   that in the past those who questioned the validity of this religious authority were exiled, killed or termed as irreligious and condemned.

Theism, in this specific sense, conceives of God as personal, present and active in the governance and organization of the universe.

Mundaka Upanishad/3/1/8: Eye cannot see him, nor words reveal him; by the senses, austerity, or works he is not known. When the mind is cleansed by the grace of wisdom, he is seen by contemplation–the One without parts.

Brihad Aranyaka Upanishad/ 3/8/9: It is in truth that Imperishable, O Gargi, who is not seen but is the seer, who is not heard but is the hearer, who is not thought but is the thinker, who is not known but is the knower. There is no other seer but him, no other hearer but him, no other thinker but him, no other knower but him. And it is that Imperishable which is the warp and the woof of space.”

Thus, the Vedic scriptures recognize the unity of Reality or Brahman without any human intervention or intercession.

Yoga Vasishtha :- "Teachers, interpretations of sacred texts, the force of religious merit--none of these lead to the realization of that Ultimate Truth which is revealed in the clear reflection of the heart, engendered from contact with the good."

Kabir lived in Kashi, a place abounding in scholars. They believed it was enough to read, to accumulate knowledge from books. They were well versed in the Vedas, in the Upanishads and the other scriptures, and  they looked upon Kabir as ignorant, as an  illiterate man. In one sense, you can say Kabir was illiterate. If you consider a scholar as literate, as a well-educated man, then Kabir was definitely illiterate. But of what value is the scholar’s knowledge? A scholar will go on and on about the immortality of the soul, but when death approaches you will find him trembling  and weeping and wailing. All this talk of immortality will crumble into nothingness because he has not known it..    --Osho -The Great Secret, ch. 2

Religion and mysticism are a species of mesmerism affecting weaker or impressionable minds. Thus,  the panoply of a guru’s religious robe or presence of god men creates an unconscious suggestion in weaker minds of a superior power or magical knowledge. Similarly, mass visitors to ashrams are suggested into thinking they are experiencing great peace and their wishes will be fulfilled if they unconditionally surrender to Guru or God men.  Since they are unconsciously hypnotized into believing that will happen. However, when a strong mind which is aware of the truth meets a guru or god men are entirely unaffected.  Whatever is happening within the waking experience is part of the duality, thus it cannot be part of the reality.

The metaphysics based on the Vedas and Upanishads are beyond any form of theism be it monotheism or polytheism, as they point to “reality” which cannot be described by terms like monotheism or polytheism.

The Vedas recognizes the “reality” both in its formless and manifest aspects, but today, the Vedic science and philosophy is demeaned, distorted and reduced by measuring it through a religious  framework. Therefore, one has to bifurcate all the adulteration to grasp the real essence of the Vedas and Upanishads to realize the ultimate truth which beyond form, time and space.

'I' is the whole universe.

A person perceives the world within the mind.   The mind is present in the form of the universe. Absent of mind is absent of waking or dream. Thus waking or dream is present in the form of  mind. The mind is present in the form of 'I'.  Thus 'I' is the whole universe.

Sri Ramana Maharishi Says: The self is fullness of consciousness. Therefore, there is nothing apart from it. Ramana would humorously say that if god were to be separate he would be self-less. As for Sadguru his individuality is dead. It is merged in the self like waves in the sea. so, he is the Self. The guru and god are not different for their essential nature as unlimited consciousness is the same. [Page-8 – Practical Guide To Know Yourself].

The earliest ancient sages used the word ‘I’ to the witness of the three states not to the ego as moderns use it and think the ‘I’ without the body as  self. The seeker has to realize  the fact that the fact that ‘I’ is not the self but the witness of the ‘I’ is the true self, which is eternal. The witness of the 'I' is the formless soul.

People think that the ‘soul’ or ‘spirit’ is something different from the mind. They believe that the mind is really two. This is the confusion among religious believers and intellectuals. If ‘Soul’ has any meaning, if ‘spirit’ has any meaning, so long as one thinks of them, they are merely ideas. Soul or Atman is the highest. The soul is present in the form of consciousness.  Consciousness is ultimate truth or Brahman because the whole universe is created out of consciousness.

Consciousness is the substance and the witness of the duality.  The duality is present in the form of mind.

One thinks he is an individual separate from the world within the mind. He is unaware of the fact that,  the mind is not within his brain but he and his experience of the world are within the mind.  Thus, he thinks he is born in this world and the world existed prior to him. Thus this conviction makes him believe the birth, life and death as a reality.  Till this conviction is there one views and judges the three states  on the base of ego or waking entity, which is the cause of ignorance.

This ignorance  is  the main hurdle in pursuit of truth. Therefore, it is very much necessary to rectify the reasoning  base from physical (form) to spirit (formless) before proceeding further in pursuit of truth.

If the seeking base is not rectified it will lead one towards hallucination. When the mind itself is a myth then the man and his experience of the world is bound to be a myth. Therefore a perfect understanding of the mind will help one to unfold the mystery of the mind.  It is impossible to unfold the truth on the base of false self within the false experience, because the truth is prior to the appearance of the falsehood.  And falsehood creates ignorance. and ignorance is cause of experiencing the duality as reality.

The seeker has to burn down the ignorance by rectifying the base of reasoning by realizing the fact that,  the self is neither the waking entity nor the self is dream entity but the self is formless soul. .

Waking entity is the false self within the false experience. All arguments  based on the waking entity or ego are untruth. All the happenings within the waking experience is falsehood. Therefore the birth, life, death and the world are mere illusion.  The self is neither the waking entity nor the self is the dream entity but the self is the formless soul, which witnesses the coming and going of the three states in succession.

Duality exists until mind exists. Mind exists where there is division of form, time and space. If there is no division of form, time and space, then there is no mind. Words are used as a tool to name individual objects and feelings within the duality.

The words become meaningless when one becomes aware of the formless substance of the mind, which is consciousness. Consciousness is our innermost self. From the standpoint of our innermost self, the mind is mere mirage.

If mind is a mere mirage then the form, time and space are mere mirage. If form, time and space are a mere mirage than the thoughts and words which arises within the scope of form, time and space are also part and parcel of that mirage. Thus body, ego, words, thoughts, and whatever the contents of the universe are within the mirage created out of single stuff that is consciousness. Thus it is necessary to know 'What is mind?' and 'What is the substance of the mind?' and 'What is the source of the mind?', in order to realize the words are meaningless in the realm of truth.

Adyathmic discussion -317(karma)

The karma theory is meant for those who are immersed in worldly life thinking the individual life within the particle world as reality. In
the path of truth the karma theory becomes a great obstacle in realizing the truth.

The reincarnation is based on the karma theory. The karma theory is based on the birth, life and death. The birth, life and death are reality only on the base of the false self.
Thus whatever based on the false self is bound to be falsehood. By accepting the karma theory is accepting the falsehood as reality. Thus whatever is based on the birth identity will not yield any truth. If one accepts the karma theory then it is impossible to treat the world as illusion. All the pundits’ explanation of karma theory carries no weight on realm of truth from the ultimate standpoint.

When the self is not form but the self is formless soul, how the karma will affect the birthless self.

That Karma which is done in a previous life which produces the present life is a mere religious theory. ‘Ego’  or waking entity  is not the self, and the true self is birthless entity, because it is formless. Karma theory has no value in the realm of truth, because self has no birth. The one which is born, lives and dies is the false entity within the false experience.--FORMLESS PATH

    • Divya Kumar Realization... Enlightenment....is the awakening from the delusion of personal karma. As long as we identify with self = karma and reincarnation! When there is no identification with the self =no karma reincarnation

      This is usually a process

      ss:
We move from personal self to Universal Self, and as universal self there is no other...so automatically when there is no 'other' there is no blame guilt judgment etc= thus no karma!
in this awareness… there happens a big sweep of all so called karma of seeming past/or current lives with seeming others!

Then as we abide as no self...it dawns on us there is no me to have a separate track of cayuse and effect... all is just the cosmic play

    • Santthosh Kumaar I respect your views and wisdom. The Karma theory is reality only on the base of the false self, where one thinks body and the universe as reality. When one becomes aware of the fact that, the true self is formless soul, then the karma becomes part and parcel of illusion. My point is that, if one accepts the karma theory as reality, he will never be able to come out of the ignorance. And ignorance makes him believe the cycle of birth, life and death as a reality. Thus the freedom which one is seeking will remain a distant dream. For the one who accepts the birth life and death as a reality, Self-knowledge is impossible.

Thus it is necessary for the seeker of truth to know the fact that, the body which is born, lives and dies is not the self. Since he is taking the body to be the self, he is experiencing the duality as reality.

As Sage Sri, Sankara says:- When the whole universe, movable and immovable, is known to be Atman, and thus the existence of everything else is negated, where is then any room to say that the body is Atman.

If the body is not the Atman/self, then the karma theory has no meaning on the standpoint of the truth. Thus no second thing exists other than Atman, therefore why to view the world-wide on the standpoint of the body as self (ego or waking entity) when the body(ego or waking entity) is the false self, and the soul or Atman is the true self.

If the body is not the self, then the birth, life, death and the universe are bound to be an illusion. If birth, life and death are illusion then all conducts action and their fruits are mere illusion. If the body is not the self, then the existence of god, heaven and hell is mere illusion. If the body is not the self then all religious beliefs of god is mere illusion. If the body is not the self but the Atman (soul) which is in the form of consciousness is the true self, then there is no scope for second thing other than consciousness, therefore consciousness, which is Atman is Brahman or ultimate truth. The Brahman alone is real and eternal. Thus whatever is real and  eternal has to be identified as a god. To identify the real and eternal, one has to overcome the ignorance caused by the illusion. To overcome the ignorance one has to acquire the Self-Knowledge or Bramha Gnana or Atma Gnana.
