Atman is not known by those who know it; it is known by those who do not know it. That is when one says he knows Ataman; he is saying it as a person.

Kenopanishad II – verses 1-3:-He who thinks that he knows really thereby proves himself ignorant. He who realizes that he cannot know Him has best understood Him. Those who seek to know Him, as they can grasp things of ordinary knowledge, can never achieve their object. Those who realize the limitation of the human mind in respect of the knowledge of the Supreme Spirit and, therefore, frankly confess ignorance, really approach a true understanding of it.

The limitation of human knowledge, when trying to comprehend the Supreme Being, is brought out in the above epigram.

Kenopanishad II – verses 4:-When it is known through every conscious state, it is rightly known and one attains eternal life thereby. Through his own self he gains strength and through his knowledge immortality. Not by reasoning but only by an awakening can we get a vision of the Supreme Spirit. Life, in relation to the Ultimate Reality, is like a state of sleep. Reason, in respect of Ultimate Reality, is like the impossible conception of a sleeping man trying to know what he is about, without waking up. As sleep is to waking, so is ordinary life to the state of realization.

If one thinks: "I know Atman well," then surely he knows but little of its form; he knows only its form as conditioned by man or by the concept of gods. Therefore Atman has to be grasped through inquiry, analysis and reasoning on the true base.
Atman(soul or consciousness) is not known by those who know it; it is known by those who do not know it.  That is when one says he knows Atman; he is saying it as a person. The Atman cannot be applied only to the individuality but to the whole experience (three states). But in reality the person and world created out of Atman, thus nothing exits other then Atman. Thus if one says he knows Atman as a person, he is making a wrong statement. One must know Atman as the formless clay of the three states (whole).
Atman is known when it is realized in every state of mind; for by such Knowledge one attains Immortality. By Atman one obtains strength; by Knowledge, Immortality
If a man knows Atman here, he then attains the non dual goal of his mission. If he does not know it here, he remains ignorance experiencing the cycle of birth, life and death as reality. Having realized the Self in every being, the wise relinquish the world and become immortal.

Guru disciple theory becomes greatest obstacle in pursuit of truth.

A true Guru is the soul/self and never represents the physical body that is seen by the seeker, but the nondual awareness, which is to be revealed within the mind [waking]. Thus, being the Awareness within, the real Guru is always with the mind and it is the job of any genuine Gnani not to dominate the seeker but to free him from the illusion that he/she is the body or the mind.

The seekers who are aware of the fact that, the guidance is coming from within even though it appears to come from outside, because the waking experience is dependent on the soul, which is in the form of consciousness. Without the soul or consciousness, the waking experience ceases to exist. The three states are dependent on the soul or consciousness for their existence whereas the consciousness can exist with or without the three states. The man and the world are part of the illusion, therefore the guru disciple relationship  also part of the illusion. The person who thinks himself as guru or disciple has accepted himself as body, thus the guru disciple theory becomes greatest obstacle in pursuit of truth.

“Whoever accepts himself as guru or as a disciple is not qualified for self-knowledge, because he accepts himself as an individual.”

Yoga Vasishtha :- "Teachers, interpretations of sacred texts, the force of religious merit--none of these lead to the realization of that Ultimate Truth which is revealed in the clear reflection of the heart, engendered from contact with the good."

Without wisdom, there can be no Self- awareness.  Wisdom can be got by getting rid of ignorance. Only through soulcentric reasoning, the innermost self the ignorance vanishes.

Neither by rituals nor by yoga nor by hearing sermons, is it very difficult to realize the ultimate truth or Brahman. Without realizing the fact that, the world is illusion, without renunciation of ignorance and mentally giving up the illusion which one believes it to be real, absolutely nothing can be accomplished in the path of truth. Truth is not a thing anyone can snatch by a trick."

Kabir views humanity as being caught up in illusion, searching for Ultimate Reality in all the wrong places, always seeking It outside of ourselves in various rituals, temples, forests and mountaintops, not realizing That for which we seek is already hidden within us.

“Whoever accepts himself as guru or as a disciple is not qualified for self-knowledge, because he accepts himself as an individual.”

Swami Vivekananda said: - You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.”

The one who identifies himself as swami, guru or yogi is not a Gnani. A Gnani never identifies himself as swami, guru, pundit or yogi. Swami, guru, pundit or yogi belongs to religious and yogic path not to path of truth or wisdom.

It is very true. Seeker of truth must have firm conviction that the self is the soul/spirit. If the self is formless spirit, then there is neither the guru nor disciple, nor the world exists. Because one is fully aware of the fact, the whole experience of the diversity is spirit or Atman.   Therefore, Atman is Brahman.  One, who has realized the fact that Ataman/spirit is the true self, is unaffected what others call him.
Thus until one gets firm conviction that, the self is  the formless soul, which is present in the form of consciousness he will remain in the clutches of physicality. Physicality is duality.  Thus accepting oneself as guru  or disciple is an obstacle in pursuit of truth. Keeping this in mind the seeker has to proceed deeper in pursuit of truth.

In India, people consider the person with scriptural knowledge, religious scholars and the person who are wearing religious robes, yogis are considered as gurus /masters/teachers.

People believe that teacher or mystic or priest has got so many followers and therefore there must be some truth in their teaching, is a common fallacy accepted by the mass due to their inherited conditioning. It proves only an ignorant can find a number of greater ignorant to follow him.

Even Sage Sri,  Ramana Maharishi did not accept anyone as disciple nor he had any guru, but many claim themselves as his disciples.
Since he had many disciples before he started his pursuit of truth . He preaches religion to his religious followers because people are not capable of understanding and assimilating higher truth. Nisargdutta’s used to mingle with ordinary people and sing praise of god, and same time he was discussing higher truth with the serious seekers.  Sage Sri, Ramana Maharishi used to prescribe different things for different people according to their level of understanding.   Thus, it creates confusion in the mind of seeker what is truth.
A Gnani never accepts himself as neither as disciple nor as guru.  Because he has a firm conviction that the body9waking entity or ego)is not the self. He is unaffected by what others call him or address him outwardly, because his inner conviction is very strong.

Sage Sri Ramana Maharshi said:-"Jnana is given neither from outside nor from another person. It can be realised by each and every one in his own Heart. The jnana Guru of everyone is only the Supreme Self that is always revealing its own truth in every Heart through the being-consciousness 'I am, I am.' The granting of true knowledge by him is initiation into jnana. The grace of the Guru is only that Self-awareness that is one's own true nature. It is the inner consciousness by which he is unceasingly revealing his existence. This divine upadesa is always going on naturally in everyone."

Mundaka Upanishad  :- This Atman cannot be attained through study of the Vedas, nor through intelligence, nor through much learning. He who chooses Atman—by him alone is Atman attained. It is Atman that reveals to the seeker Its true nature.(3 –page-70)

It is attained by him alone whom It chooses. To such a one Atman reveals its own form.  Then what is the use of indulging through our intelligence or our accumulated knowledge, when one is not chosen by the self, which is the soul, which is in the form of consciousness.

To free one self from cycle of birth, life and death, means freeing the soul/self from the mind, which appears as waking/dream, and disappears as deep sleep.

The Self is indeed Brahman, but through ignorance people identify it with intellect, mind, senses, passions, and the elements of earth, water, air, space, and fire. This is why the Self is said to consist of this and that, and appears to be everything. - Brihadaranyaka Upanishad

To free  one self from cycle of  illusory birth, life and death, means freeing the soul, the innermost self from the mind, which is present in the form of universe. the universe  appears as waking or dream(duality)and disappears as deep sleep(non-duality).
When the mind is there, then the man and his experience of world are present.  Absent of mind is absent of man and his experience of the world. Thus, only when the mind is there one is aware of birth, life, death and the world.  Since we limit our mind to the physical entity, we are in ignorance of the true self, which is the soul ,which is present in the form of consciousness.
Virtues, values, love are reality only on standpoint of the physical self (waking entity or ego)  the physical self or ego is the false self  within the false experience.

The three states are unreal on the standpoint of  the soul, the innermost self.  Man does not withdraw himself from the waking  experience(mind) but it is the soul, which withdraws itself from the mind (waking) .   When the soul , the innermost self withdraws itself from the mind(duality) , it is in its own awareness of its formless non-dual true nature. In ignorance  man  identifies   the formless non-dual  true nature of the soul as  deep sleep.

It is the Self that is in illusion and it is the self that gets free from the bondage of the illusion. The illusion is present in the form of mind. Mind is in the form of universe. Universe appears as waking or dream and disappears as deep sleep.  The individual experiences of birth, life, death and the world are within the waking experience.  The dream is parallel waking experience and waking is parallel dream.

Deeper self-search reveals the fact that the, self is neither the waking entity nor the self is the dream entity but the self is formless soul, which witnesses the coming and going of the three states in succession without the physical apparatus.  This has to be mentally grasped and assimilated to realize the formless soul, the innermost   self is nothing to do with the three states. On the standpoint of the three states, the three states are mere illusion.

The practical life within the practical world, which is present as waking experience, is mere illusion. If waking experience is mere illusion than the individual experience of birth, life, death and world are mere illusion.   If the experience birth, life death and the world are mere illusion, it means the form; time and space are mere illusion.  If form, time and space are mere illusion, it means the past, present and future is mere illusion. Thus it is necessary for the seeker to realize the fact that,   form, time and space are one in essence, in order to realize the three states are one in essence. That essence is consciousness. Thus all the diversity is created out of   formless consciousness. Thus no second thing exist other than consciousness, the innermost self. Seeker of truth has to constantly reflect on the subject in order to get firm conviction of the truth.  Seeker has to reflect on the same truth again and again until it becomes reality. One needs to constant reflect on the subject until he gets firm conviction of what is what.

The words betray the hollowness. The real cannot be described; it must be discovered and realized. Whatever the words try to convey is only helpful to grasp the truth. The nondual truth has to be grasped and realized.  Man knows only the world, and his individual experiences within the world.   He is not aware of the fact that, he and his experience of the world are part of the illusion. He views and judges the truth on the base of his birth entity, which is false entity, thus he is stuck in the muck of illusion or duality. The nondual truth lies beyond the physical based understanding.  Thus, it is necessary to verify the fact through deeper inquiry, analysis and reasoning about his own inherited beliefs and accumulated knowledge, in order to realize, how they become obstacle in realizing the truth

One knows he exists spontaneously. He does not do anything to know himself.

One knows he exists spontaneously. He does not do anything to know himself.  All the three states appear and disappear spontaneously.  In waking or dream one sees, hears, smells, tastes feels but he is unaware of the fact that he and his experience of the  world exists within waking or dream, and he   is perceives the world within the waking or dream.

However, he is unaware of the fact that, from where the waking or dream has appeared and where it disappears and what sustains the waking or dream experiences.

Only when a serious seeker tries to investigate the facts about his own existence he becomes aware the three states, which appear and disappear are unreal in its nature.  In addition, the waking entity on which he tries to view and judge the worldview itself is false.  Therefore, the seeking mind realizes fact that, the soul or consciousness or spirit is in spontaneous ignorance within the spontaneous illusion and experiences the illusion as reality.

The mind is formed spontaneously is lost in its self-forgetfulness of its true nature and experiences the illusion as reality, thus one sticks to the idea of birth, life and death as reality.   When one accepts the birth, life and death as reality then he becomes unaware of the fact that the birth, life and death are reality within the illusion.  Thus, the physical based is formed and one bases himself on the physical base and views, and judges and concludes everything on the physical base (ego).   Therefore, one remains ignorant of the true self, and thinks whatever seen, known, believed and experienced as a person within the waking experience as reality.   Thus, there is a need to indulge in deeper inquiry, analysis and reasoning to know what is truth and what is untruth.

Personal conduct cannot be used as a yardstick in pursuit of truth.

Personal conduct cannot be used as a yardstick in pursuit of truth.   All the societal and  religious code of conduct is meant for the physical plane. Deeper inquiry and reasoning reveals the fact that, the physical body (waking entity or ego) is not the self but  the true self is the formless soul, therefore, one has to view and judge the truth on the base the formless soul, in order to acquire non-dual wisdom.

The whole physical experience is dependent on the soul for its existence. Thus, it is erroneous to view and judge the truth on the base of physical entity (‘waking entity or ego ’), which is the false self within the false experience.  Thus, it is necessary to know the true self is not ‘I’, but the formless soul in order to understand, assimilate, and realize the ultimate truth or reality.

It is erroneous to view and judge the ultimate truth, on the base of the false self, within the false experience, without verifying the facts about our present physical experience is mere illusion.     Whatever viewed and judged on the false self (‘waking entity or ego ’) within the false experience is bound to be falsehood. Thus, it is necessary to know what is real and what unreal in order is to have the yardstick to accept the truth and reject the untruth.

Thus on the base of the soul as true self, the physical existence is mere mirage or falsehood.  Therefore, whatever has seen, known, experienced, and believed as a person within the physical existence is bound to be falsehood.  The formless substance and witness of the mirage or  falsehood is real and eternal.  Therefore, the codes of conducts are meant for the worldly life, which is part of the mirage.  Thus, individual conducts are reality within the mirage therefore; it cannot be accepted as yardstick.

Until and unless one learns to view and judge the physical existence on the base of formless soul, the truth will not be revealed.

To understand the Vedic / Biblical insights and get the un- contradictable meaning one has to learn to view and judge the truth on the base of the true self .

To understand the Vedic  or  Biblical  insights  and get the  un- contradictable meaning one has to learn to view and judge the truth on the base of the formless soul , the innermost self .  Without soul-centric judgment and reasoning  the non-dual wisdom it is impossible.  Therefore, one has to strive for self-knowledge first in order to understand the meaning of scriptural insights.
Knowledge is not brought about by any other means than Vichara, just as an object is nowhere perceived (seen) without the help of light. 11[Aparokshanubhuti  - By Adi Sankaracharya]
When Sri, Sankara  says- Knowledge is not brought about by any other means than inquiry, then why should one indulge in searching the truth in the Vedas.

An intelligent person, who has studied the scriptures and has practised what they enjoin should discard them after experiencing Brahman as his Self, just as a man discards the husk when he has found the grain’. [Amrita-Bindu Upanishad]

A wise man, having experienced Brahman as his Self, should keep his higher intuitive faculty (prajna) united with Brahman. He should not oppress his mind with many words, for they are a mere waste of energy’. [Brihadaranyaka Upanishad]

One has to focus his attention firmly on true self - all the words thoughts and experiences are created out of consciousness  hence they are also consciousness.   They lose their meaning in the realm the non-dual truth.

It has been clearly told in the Shruti: ‘Know that One and give up other talks’ [Mundaka Upanishad] and ‘A wise man should restrain his speech and keep it within the mind’. [Katha Upanishad]

Know the true self is consciousness and give up all the physical based knowledge. A Gnani knows the thoughts; experiences are consciousness in their nature. Thus, they have meaning only on the base of physical entity or ego.

The words and thoughts are part of the illusion.

The words and thoughts are part of the illusion. The formless witness(FW), which is in the form of consciousness is real, and it  is also the  formless substance the illusion, which is present  in the form of universe.  It is the will of the formless witness to reveal itself, not the effort of physical entity or ego  within the waking experience.

When the focus of attention of the soul (FW) turns on itself ,  the illusion ceases. When the focus of attention stabilizes on its formless non-dual true nature, than the soul, the innermost  self is in its own awareness.  in self-awareness the three states are one in essence.   when the one is spiritually  matured he will have firm conviction that the soul is the self and the three states are mere illusion from the standpoint of the soul, the innermost self.
There is a need to clear all the confusion and move ahead in pursuit of truth.  None of the teachings will take one to finality without removing the obstacles.

Since, all the scholars and gurus does not accepted anything other than their  accepted truth , which are based on the waking entity or ego , therefore,  they will never be able to  assimilate the Self-Knowledge  or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.

The rebirth and reincarnation theory is based on the physical self.  The soul has no birth; therefore, it has no death. When the birth, life and death are reality within the false experience then the rebirth and reincarnation is reality within the falsehood.   Since, man is immersed himself in believing the duality as reality, he is unaware of the ultimate truth.

When the seeking mind discovers the fact that, the waking entity is not the true self, then identifies the soul as true self, and learns to view and judge the three states on the base of the soul, then the ignorance drops.  Moreover, it becomes aware of the fact that, the three states are mere mirage created sustained and finally dissolves as soul, which is in the form of the spirit.

Names and forms are part of the false experience. Origin of the false experience is the soul. The soul is the formless substance and witness of the three states.  Without the formless witness, the false experience ceases to exist. Therefore, the false self or ego has to trace the true self in order to overcome the duality and merge in its formless non-dual true nature.

Sri, Ramana Maharishi  Says: The self is fullness of consciousness. Therefore, there is nothing apart from it. Ramana would humorously say that if god were to be separate he would be self-less. As for Sadguru his individuality is dead. It is merged in the self like waves in the sea. so, he is the Self. The guru and god are not different for their essential nature as unlimited consciousness is the same. [Page-8 – Practical Guide To Know Yourself].

It means the soul or  consciousness(FW) itself is the self.  Therefore, the three states are not apart from it.  We are aware of god, the world and ourselves only in the waking experience. Thus, whatever seen, known, believed and experienced in waking  or dream is witnessed by the FW(soul). The waking or dream rises from FW (consciousness) and subsides as FW (consciousness).  Therefore there is no second thing exists other then FW in the whole experience of diversity. (Waking or dream).     The waking experience is non-existent without the FW(soul) . The FW(soul)  is the true self and it is in the form spirit or consciousness.  The FW(soul)  can stay with or without the waking or dream. Illustration is deep sleep. In deep sleep, it is without the waking or dream.  Therefore, it is necessary to understand the fact that, the three states are unreal on the standpoint of FW(soul) , and mentally focus the attention on the FW(soul)  to get the non-dual self-awareness.  Only when the focus of attention of the seeking mind then it gets established in the FW(soul)  the wisdom dawns and ignorance (duality) drops.

The individuality and individual experiences are happening within the false experience (waking or dream). They are reality only on the base of ignorance. When the ignorance drops,   the individual and the individual experiences are mere mirage created out of FW  (soul or consciousness).

To assimilate the “Self-Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana” it takes steady, unceasing zeal. Nobody can teach that  zeal. One has to develop that himself. "One can take a horse to water but he cannot make him drink." Yet when the horse is thirsty, it seeks out water with zeal. So, when one   has an immense thirst for knowing the truth, when he will not give undue importance to the experience of duality --then it  will  starts revealing on it own.

The religious based realist will not be able to grasp, understand, assimilate and realize the nondual truth because they are egocentric.

BUDDHA SAID: - Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true.

The religious based realist will not be able to grasp, understand, assimilate and realize the non-dual truth because they are egocentric.  The religious realist rejects the all talks of illusion.  The realist believes in a vast universe of material things, there are an infinite numbers of finite conscious souls inhabiting material bodies and there is God. They are incapable of grasping non-dual awareness because of their awareness is limited to physicality. And they take their physical experience as reality without verifying the fact that, the self is not physical. Until their reason is based on the physical self they will not be able to realize the non-dual truth.

In addition they follow the path of devotion to the imaginary entity as god and love for the imagined God. Devotion demands distinction between devotee and the Deity.  Thus the duality prevails. Until duality is there is no reality because duality hides the reality.  Thus, they will remain believing the false self as real self and false experience as reality and get in the bondage of birth, life, death and the world and permanently remain in the prison of ignorance believing the ignorance as reality.

They hold that universe of souls and material objects, the very universe one can see through see with himself as he turns his gaze inwards, is actually body of the God. Just as the human soul is the animator and controller of its body, so the God is the animator and controller of the universe. God penetrates every atom of it; he is inseparable from it.  Furthermore, there is no other reality anywhere besides this all-pervading god.

For realist the souls and things are essentially different from God, not just apparently, and they will always be different. As realist think god is immeasurably raised above all possibility of anyone being equal or superior to God.  God besides pervading all, love all. God delights in attracting souls to Himself. God’s mercy extends to all cast down to the lowliest. All one has to do is surrender his will to the god. And sooner or later every soul will—in the end no soul will want to resist his free grace. Thus realist believes in universal salvation.  This belief is consistent with their view that all soul starts with the same spiritual apparatus.  None is privileged when brought forth into manifestation.   What differentiate one from another is choices each makes, their respective actions, over the course of many lives. And just as they all start out the same, they end up the same when finally from cycle of birth and death.  They think no soul is superior to another.

All these religious realist theories based on the false self ( waking entity or  ego) considering the false experience [waking] as reality.  All these theories are good for the mass mind-set that is incapable of verifying the validity of their own existence.

Deeper inquiry, analysis and reasoning revels the fact that, the self is not physical but the self is the formless soul, which is in the form of consciousness.  Therefore, on the base of soul [consciousness] as self the physical existence [mind] is mere mirage created out of consciousness.  Thus consciousness alone is real and alleles are mere mirage.

Thus, by accepting himself as devotee of a deity or disciple of some guru one has accepted himself as an individual separate from the world. By accepting himself as an individual he remains ignorant of the reality, which is hidden within the mind which appears as waking or dream [duality] and disappears as deep sleep (non-duality). The one which is aware of the appearance and disappearance of the mind is not the form but it is formless. The formless knower is consciousness.  The consciousness is the formless substance and witness of the mind or 'I' or universe or waking .

One who has immersed in the intoxication of ignorance has to overcome the intoxication of illusion by seeking truth directly by inquiring into the nature of the mind and learn the truth of the soul, which is in the form of consciousness.

The ignorance is the source of duality. And duality is the cause of illusion. Illusion is cause of experiencing unreality as reality.  Therefore, one has to eradicate the ignorance completely through knowledge of true self, which is consciousness. To freedom there is no entrance except non-dual wisdom.

Devotion and yoga are based on the false self [ego] therefore they are not the means to acquire Self-Knowledge.  The ignorance lifts only on the rise of non-dual wisdom.   It is impossible to cross the threshold of duality without the knowledge of the soul, which is in the form of consciousness.  Non-dual wisdom means the full and firm realization beyond all doubts, confusions, change, contradictions.

Neither by regulating the breath nor by deeds, nor by glorifying god or gurus, nor scriptural studies one gets non-dual wisdom, because all of them are based on the ego. Whatever is related to ego is ignorance

The self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana  originates when one starts identifying his - self with the consciousness by realizing the fact that, the self is not physical. And when the focus of attention of the self turns on itself, then the three states are mere mirage created out of the consciousness. There is no second thing exists other then consciousness.

One should not accept anything as truth without verification.

One must not be conditioned by scriptures and try to understand the ultimate reality.

The non-dual truth does not belong to any kind of theories. One must not be conditioned by scriptures and try to understand the ultimate reality. One needs the inner urge and capacity to grasp it. If one has no capacity to grasp and understand it, then he is not at ready for taking this mental journey of pursuit of truth he needs to prepare himself by inquiring   well and try to grasp well and assimilate and understand it then only he must start his pursuit of truth.

Consciousness is the infinite ocean. When mind, which is in the form of universe rises and subsides from it. But when the mind subsides, the universe sinks with all its contents. On the boundless ocean of consciousness nothing exist other than itself.

Consciousness is the Self hidden in everyone, everywhere and in everything in all the three states. Those who, minds focused one-pointedly on the consciousness will realize the experience of diversity [waking or dream] is mere mirage.

Inquiry, analysis and reasoning lead one deeper into consciousness, passing from the universe to experience, and beyond experience to the wisdom of the Self, which is objectless awareness or consciousness without the objects.

The stillness of the mind through wisdom brings one to realize his true identity is not waking entity but consciousness.

The world is also unreal because it is unthinkable either as existent or as non-existent. Consciousness in the realm of the mirage appears as the subject and object. Self-Knowledge produces no subject-object duality. When the mind is stilled through wisdom the unreal nature of the three states are exposed.  The stillness of the mind through wisdom brings one to realize his true identity is not waking entity but consciousness.

When waking entity becomes aware of the fact that, it itself is not the self but the self is the formless soul or consciousness. The soul or consciousness is the formless witness of the coming and going of the three states. The formless witness is also the substance of the three states. Thus in reality the formless witness and substance are one in essence.   In reality all the three states are one in essence. Therefore, the three states are mere mirage created out of consciousness, the innermost self.

When the ultimate truth is rightly known and one attains eternal life thereby. Through soul, the innermost self he gains strength and through its knowledge immortality.

Not by intellectual   speculation but only by an awakening to the reality of his true existence he gets soulcentric vision. Soul, the innermost self’s nature is like state of deep sleep.

Religion and yoga and intellectualism are not the means to acquire self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.  Without getting rid of the ignorance and trying to get self-awareness through religion and yoga is like a sleeping man trying to know what he is about, without waking up. As sleep is to waking, so is ordinary life to the state of realization.

Whether in dream or waking or deep sleep, the consciousness is common ingredient

Belief system is   meant people of lower and middling intellect, while wisdom is for those of sharp enough to grasp the beyond.

The belief system preaches that God is one and the ways to God are many. It simply tries to lead them to darkness with its dogma and idea of many gods, which is apart from the self.

The eternal truth within the universe [mind] and it is without the universe [mind]. Direct knowledge of self can be acquired by one through the Self while realizing the Self. Self- realization is the essence of human existence. Where there is unity, one without a second; there is world of non-dual reality. The non-dual truth is ultimate truth. And ultimate truth itself is God.

The god and guru are part of the illusory world; therefore the devotee and disciple also are also part of the illusion. Accepting the birth, life and death as reality, is accepting the illusion as reality. Accepting illusion as reality is the cause of the ignorance. Ignorance makes one feel the duality as reality. The duality makes one feel he is an individual separate from the world.  This separation makes one feel the birth, life and death as reality.  The person who bases on the birth, life and death is trying to find the meaning of life. There is no meaning or purpose of the life, because the life is mere happening within the illusion.  Thus the karma based on the physical entity is based on the birth, life and death, which is part and parcel of the illusion.

The experience of varied consciousness-states proves that none of them can be considered to be real, if one judges it on the ultimate point of view.

If one was asleep and dreamt he was an elephant, and then awoke to find himself to be a priest, how will he know if he was an elephant dreaming he was a man or am a man dreaming he was elephant?

Whether in dream or waking or deep sleep,  the consciousness is common ingredient  therefore, the deep sleep signifies the consciousness can exist without duality.  Thus one which is aware of these three states can remain with or without the duality or universe.    The truth is that all duality is false and the reality is non-dual existence.
