Consciousness is the shoreless Non-dual Ocean. Consciousness is beyond
form, time and space. Consciousness is beyond instinct, intellect, imagination
and inspiration. It is unconscious of its true nature when it is in illusion.
Only beyond illusion it is in its true nature.--FORMLESS PATH
The soul is the formless
substance and witness of the three states. If the formless witness
witnesses the waking experience and its attention is fixed to the waking
experience than the waking experience is experienced as
reality. If the
formless witness witnesses the dream and its attention is fixed to the dream
than the dream is experienced as reality. If the attention of the soul is
on itself than it is called deep sleep in waking experience, which is the
states of ignorance. If the soul consciously remains in its formless non-dual true
nature in the midst of waking experience through wisdom thean it is called
self-awareness.
The
three states are an object to the formless soul, is the subject. The
three states are state of ignorance. In all the three states the
soul, the innermost self is in ignorance of its own
formless non-dual true nature. This forgetfulness is cause of
the ignorance. Ignorance is cause of experiencing the three
states as reality. The three states are cause of experiencing the individuality as
reality. Individuality is cause of experiencing the birth,
life, death and the world as reality. The three states are one in
essence. In the realm of truth the three states are non-existent.
In self-awareness, the three states are non-existent because
they are one in essence.
The three states are unreal on the base of the soul, the innermost self. The soul is present in the form of consciousness. Therefore, whatever is seen, known,
believed and experienced as a reality as waking entity within the waking world is unreal. Because the three states are a mere illusion created out of consciousness.
It is necessary for the seeker to learn to view and
judge, the three states on the base of the the formless soul, in order to realize the fact
that, all the three states are mere illusion created out of consciousness. Only after realizing the three
states are illusory one can say the world is an illusion, not until then.
Religion, dogmatically assumes God's
existence which is based on individual perception. One has to realize the fact that, whatever is based on individuality is bound to be an illusion. Thus the
physical body and the experience of the world and belief of god are part of the
illusion. In reality no second thing exists other than the consciousness. Thus consciousness alone is reality and all else is mere illusion created out of conciousness. conciousness is the formless substance and the witness of the illusion (three
states).
on the standpoint of the formless soul, the innermost self all the Gods appearance through vision is a mere hallucination.
Thus all the claims about the appearance of god are not truthful on the
base of soul ,which is present in the form of consciousness. Even if God appeared
to any one cannot be taken as real since the waking experience itself is
unreal. Thus whatever is based on individual and the world is bound to be the reality
within the falsehood. The waking experience is impermanent,
which appear and disappears. The permanent is the conciousness, which formless substance and the
witness of the three states.
No doubt the mystic had a vision,
but it is his individual experience within the illusory experience (waking). Wherever there is individuality there is
duality. Wherever there is duality, the
unreality bound to exist as reality. Therefore there is need of careful
observation to assimilate what is real and what is unreal in order to acquire
Self knowledge or Bramha Gnana or Atma Gnana.
The seeker has to consider the
waking/dream/astral is also as a vision.
The question is, what is it that witnesses these visions (waking/dream/astral). One gets deluded if he views and judges the
reality on the base of waking entity, which is limited to waking experience
alone. When one does not know the truth,
he can only guess, imagine, hence doubts and questions and discussions arise.
People say God is light, or god is light within. Some people think God is energy and they are
separate from that energy. Some contend that God is sound and say, they hear
the divine sound, sound inside in their meditation. Some say God is fragrant
smell and that beautiful scent comes in their meditation as the presence of
God. All these differences of opinion, they can be endless, show mutual
contradiction and general error, that is lack of certain truth. The seeker has
to realize the fact that, if one sees a light he is seeing it as a person,
the person and his world are part of the iillusory duality, and therefore there is no reality in his claim.
So long the soul, the innermost self identifies itself with the
waking entity it remains in ignorance of its formless nondual true nature.
Therefore it is necessary to realize the fact that, the ‘self’ is neither the
waking entity nor the ‘self’ is dream entity but the self is the formless soul,
which witnesses the coming and going of the three states.
One has to realize the fact that, it is not
the waking entity (you) which witnesses the three states. The formless soul is the witness of the
coming and going of the three states. The soul is immutable. The soul is unaffected
by the happening within the three states because the three states are mere
mirage created out of the formless soul, which is present in the form of
consciousness. The soul or consciousness is the innermost self.
The self is neither the waking entity nor the
self is dream entity but the self is the formless soul. The on the standpoint
of the soul, the innermost self the three states are non-existent as reality.
Why Sage Sri, Sankara
says in commentary in Vedanta sutra that what
is accepted without proper enquiry will not lead a person to the final goal. On the contrary, such
acceptance will result only in evil, in something which is detrimental to our
spiritual progress. The seeker of truth should not believe blindly in
traditional orthodox nonduality without verifying all the facts from every angle. One has to
reflect through reasoning over and over again without getting tired of the
process.
The Upanishad says: the human goal is
to acquire Self-Knowledge and they indicate the personal Gods, scriptures,
worship and rituals are not the means to Self –Knowledge, then why anyone
should indulge in it. The religion, concept of individualized god and
scriptures are greatest obstacle to realize non-dual truth or self-realization,
because they are based on false self.
The seeker of truth has to search the ultimate truth without losing
himself in the labyrinths of philosophy, through deeper, inquiry, analysis and
reasoning and assimilate and realize it.
That
is why Sage Sri Sankara, indicated in Bhaja Govindam says: - [Jnana Viheena Sarva Mathena Bajathi na Muktim janma Shatena]
- One without knowledge does not obtain liberation
even in a hundred births, no matter which religious faith he follows.
Then it is no use
going roundabout way, trace the Brahman which is the formless substance and
witness of the universe, which is in the form of mind. By tracing the source of the mind or universe
one will be able to realize the Brahman.
Thus, Self-knowledge or Bramha Gnana is meant only for those who have intense urge, and
courage to accept the truth with humility and reject the untruth. Since people
start comparing with their scriptural knowledge, it becomes impossible to
assimilate and realize the non-dual truth. Therefore, there is no
need to convince anyone other than our own-selves to get the firm
conviction.
So they clearly
indicate rituals and theories are not meant for those who are searching for the
higher knowledge or wisdom. The path of
wisdom is the only means.
Isa Upanishads indicates that: By worshipping gods and goddesses and
going to the world of gods after death is of no use. The time one spends
in ritualistic practices is wasted; one can spend same time moving forward
towards Self-knowledge, which is the main goal. One cannot reach the nondual
destination by glorifying god and goddesses and by doing that, one goes deeper
and deeper into darkness. It surely indicates the fact that, the seeker of
truth has to drop the worshiping god and goddess in order to get
Self-knowledge or Bramha Gnana or Atma Gnana.
Sage Sri, Sankara as a
rationalist philosopher, in contrast to the more traditional image of him as a
theologian: (Sage Sri, Sankara’s system of Advaita) is not even a philosopher
dish cooked to suit exclusively the palate of the Hindu. It is like the air and
the water, the common food of all men in all countries. It is ... an attempt
... at constructing a "Science of Truth," nay, in fact, it is the
only attempt yet made at such a science. If rightly interpreted Sage Sri, Sankara’s
teaching as food for all humanity, the universal teaching par excellence; it is
not just a religion, but the religion; not a philosophy, but the philosophy; not a science, but the Science of Truth; not a soteriology, but the path to spiritual liberation par excellence, wide and deep as the ocean which contains
virtually all the water of the world and in which all particular forms
ultimately dissolve.
Sri, Sankara' gave religious, ritual or
dogmatic instruction to the mass but pure philosophy only to the few who could
rise to it. Hence the interpretation of his writings by commentators is often
confusing because they mix up the two viewpoints. Thus they may assert that
ritual is a means of realizing Brahman, which is absurd.
Yajur Veda :-"They
are enveloped in darkness, in other words, are steeped in ignorance and sunk in
the greatest depths of misery who worship the uncreated, eternal prakrti -- the
material cause of the world -- in place of the All-pervading God, But those who
worship visible things born of the prakrti, such as the earth, trees, bodies
(human and the like) in place of God are enveloped in still greater darkness,
in other words, they are extremely foolish, fall into an awful hell of pain and
sorrow, and suffer terribly for a long time."-[Yajur
Veda 40:9.]
"Na tasya pratima asti"
"There
is no image of Him."[Yajurveda 32:3]
"Ekam evadvitiyam"
"He
is One only without a second." [Chandogya Upanishad 6:2]
"Na casya kascij janita na cadhipah."
"Of
Him there are neither parents nor lord." [Svetasvatara Upanishad 6:9]
"Na tasya pratima asti"
"There
is no likeness of Him." [Svetasvatara Upanishad 4:19]
"shudhama poapvidham"
"He
is bodiless and pure." [Yajurveda 40:8]
"Na samdrse tisthati rupam asya, na
caksusa pasyati kas canainam."
"His
form is not to be seen; no one sees Him with the eye." [Svetasvatara
Upanishad 4:20]
Only through spulcentric reasoning, one becomes aware of
the fact that, the individual gods propagated by religions does not exist in
reality. God is impotent, incompetent or
lacking in intelligence--if he exists! However, all Religions are nothing but
imaginations, because religion and its idea of god are reality only on the base
of ‘I’, which is the false self.
It is not possible anyone to know
God other then his inherited belief. If
anyone performs worship and meditation on God, it is only he is worshiping/meditating
his inherited belief. The belief is not God. When the believer and his
experience of the world are part of the illusion, then whatever he believed
within the illusion is bound to be an illusion. Thus, it is necessary for the
seeking mind to make sure of the fact that, ‘I’ is not the self, in order to
assimilate and realize the self-knowledge or Bramha Gnana or Atma Gnana.
Isa
Upanishads indicates that: By
worshipping gods and goddesses and going to the world of gods after death is of
no use. The time one spends in ritualistic practices is wasted; one can
spend same time moving forward towards Self-knowledge, which is the main goal.
One cannot
reach the nondual destination by glorifying god and goddesses and by doing
that, one goes deeper and deeper into darkness. It surely indicates the fact
that, the seeker of truth has to drop the worshiping god and goddess in order
to get self-knowledge or Bramha Gnana or Atma Gnana.
The real Moksha or freedom
is to realize the fact that ‘I’ consciousness is mere physical
awareness. Physical awareness is not self-awareness. The self –awareness is when
the formless soul or consciousness remains aware of its own
non-dual true nature. – FORMLESS
