One has to drop all his accumulated knowledge, which he is using as a yardstick that lands him in pursuit of argument without reaching anywhere

There is no practice as such but perfect understanding is needed.   Deeper inquiry, analysis and reasoning revels the fact that, the self is not physical but the self is formless consciousness. Therefore, all the accumulated knowledge, experiences and understanding based on physical self (ego or waking entity) are false knowledge   based on the false self, within the false experience (waking).   Thus, whatever is based on the waking entity is bound to be falsehood because waking experience itself is false hood.   Since many teachers and teachings are based on the false self (ego or waking entity) and they consider the false experience (three states) as reality, they are incapable of grasping the witness, which is within the three states, but it is without the three states.

Thus, the formless knower of the three states has to be grasped mentally and realize the fact that, all the three states, which comes and goes, are mental.  They are impermanent. The formless witness or knower of the three states is permanent and eternal.  Therefore, there is a need to understand “What is Mind?” and “What is the substance of the Mind?” in order to understand and assimilate the non-dual truth.

For this One has drop all his accumulated knowledge, which he is using as a yardstick that lands him in pursuit of argument without reaching anywhere.  One has to think deeper and analyze and verify everything and accept only un-contradictable truth.  Nothing has to be accepted as truth because some great thinker says it or I am saying it.

Those who lack the intelligence to discriminate between formless witness (subject) and three states (object) will not be able to grasp what is real and what is unreal. Both subject and object are consciousness, not subject alone.

The truth can never change. The nature of truth is, it can never be changed under any circumstances. It may be misrepresented. It must apply to the whole of existence, to the whole of the universe. It is in the object (three states0 alone that one has all changes, as deeper analysis points out.

The subject (formless witness) remains unchanged. The subject (formless witness0, as such remains immortal. It can never die for it never changes. The body and world are an object, and goes, but the subject or knower of the body and the universe, can never go. Seeker has to take this principle as his guiding thread and non-dual truth becomes easy to grasp. The formless witness can never be subject to the changes of the object; it is unchanged. The mistake usually made is that subject becomes object, or that object is subject.

If one wants to have absence of contradictions, absence of duality, there must be one entity, one being. If one has experience which is an object (mind), there is contradiction between subject and object, for "mind” is an object.

The duality is reality on the standpoint of the false self (ego or body as Self).  The duality is mere mirage on the base of the true self, which is formless consciousness. This understanding comes only to the serious seeker, who has real urge to know the ultimate truth, which is beyond the all the teachings and teachers. There is neither teaching, nor teacher, nor student in the realm of truth.

Consciousness is always present everywhere. It is within the form, time and space but it is beyond form, time and space, with not before or after. It is undeniable and obvious. Nothing can be said about it because it exists prior to the appearance of form, time and space and also it prevails after disappearance of the form, time and space.

As soon as one realizes that self is not the form but self is formless   then he becomes free from experiencing the illusory birth, life, death and the universe as reality.   True Self is free from the bondage of Karma, from the fetters of desires, from the mirage of this mundane life and its concomitant evils and miseries.

One sees the clouds. The clouds move continuously but their moment is within the waking/dream. If one takes a photograph, he sees the Clouds in the picture, but there is no motion of clouds in the picture. Motion is mental creation within the waking/dream.

Motion means duality.  Motion is mind. The object appears to move only. Motion is illusion. Behind the objects that move there is the absolutely motionless consciousness which witnesses the motion. Consciousness is still, it is all-pervading, and Infinite.  Consciousness is everywhere, because it is all-pervading and infinite.

The true self is the soul. Soul is in the form of consciousness, which is hidden within the three states, and its nature is formless and non-dual. It can be known only through discrimination between the dual and non-dual experiences.  And it is beyond the reach of speech and words and thoughts and form, time and space.

Discriminating between the Soul, which is in the form of consciousness and mind, which is in the form of universe one realizes what is real and what is unreal. by identifying  consciousness as true self  one becomes aware the mind which is in the form of universe is mere mirage created out of consciousness  and consciousness alone is real and ultimate truth or Brahman.

Liberation from experiencing duality or illusion cannot to be attained except through penance, scriptural studies and yogic practice or indulging religious rituals or god or guru glorification.

Inner longing to know the truth, sharpness to grasp and courage to accept the truth leads one to self-awareness. People are immersed in ignorance and remain experiencing the illusion as reality and they do not to exert themselves to know the reality of their true existence.  By clinging to things unreal they think their experience of birth, life, death and the world as reality.

By quoting the Scriptures and sacrifice to the gods, by performing rituals and worship the deities, but there is no freedom without the realization of one’s identity with the soul or consciousness, which is the true self.

There is no hope of immortality by means of riches.  Action   or inaction cannot be the cause of freedom because inaction also is action and action and inaction are part of the duality. People think by using lesser words or by keeping silence the truth emerge on its own but they keep hoping and remain in the prison of duality.

Seeker of truth has to strive his best for freedom from experiencing the illusion as reality, and fixing his attention on the formless substance and witness of the three states. The formless substance and witness are one in essence. That essence is consciousness. The consciousness alone is real and eternal and it is the source of the mind, which rises as universe and subsides back as consciousness.

Having grasped, understood the ultimate truth intellectually, one should recover oneself, immersed in the illusory experience of ocean of birth, life, death and the world by means of devotion to right discrimination.

Seeker of truth, having commenced the path of the self- realization has to give up all physical based theoretical practices and try to realize the fact that, the waking experience in which the individual experiences birth, life, death and the world as reality is also is as unreal as the dream. By realizing the formless substance and witness of the three states as consciousness one becomes free from experiencing the duality as reality.

Karma means action. Action leads to believe the experience of birth, life, death and world as reality, not to perception of the Reality. The realization of Truth is brought about by discrimination and not in the least by individual conduct and act.

By adequate reasoning the conviction of the reality about the true existence is gained, which puts an end to the great fear and misery caused by the waking experience worked up in the ignorance.

Nothing is born, nothing is destroyed. No duality, no likes and dislikes. There is no second thing exist other than awareness of the self.  If this is perceived, than it is non-dual reality.

The conviction of the non-dual truth is seen to proceed from soul-centric reasoning, and it does arise neither by bathing in the holy rivers, nor by a doing Kriya yoga Pranayama or control of the vital force nor by glorifying gurus.

Success depends essentially on a qualified aspirant; time, place and circumstances and other such means are but auxiliaries in this regard.

Seeker after the truth should take to soul centric reasoning and discriminate between dual and non-dual experiences to realize what truth is and what is untruth.

The seeker who has intense urge in knowing the truth and sharp in grasping, skilful in understanding and assimilating without the scriptures, the one who has got these characteristics is the fit recipient of the self- knowledge.

People, who have not become firm in their power of reason, quote someone else as authority to support their reasoning because they have not got fullest confidence in their own powers.

When one is certain, he does not need any authority to support or confirm himself. There is no need for it.  To appeal to others views, indicates his own reasoning is incomplete.

The seeker   must not tell a lie is the first requirement in pursuit of truth.” What he like for practical life it is not concerned with. Seeker has to keep his intuitions and instincts at a distance and he has to stick to known fact.  To inquire, analyses and reason means to go to the very end of things.

Sharpness to grasp the truth is necessary in pursuit of truth. By merely hearing the truth mentioned they will grasp it.

Seeker has to to analyze the three states; and he has to think consistently on it. Exercise his thinking faculty and inquire continually; discrimination is essential; this practice is the only way to understand, assimilate and realize the non-dual truth.

Most people have a complex "I know". Unless one gives up the “I know” business   he can’t get rid of the ideas "which are full of contradictions" to the Truth seeker. But those who do not want the truth do not see the contradictions and are satisfied with their accepted truth.

The modern science is based on the physical based facts, whereas truth   is based on facts of the true existence . the pursuit of  starts with the physical  facts, but carries its inquiry deeper. Seeker has to go more deeply into investigating his own existence facts he becomes a Gnani, automatically, merely by deeper reflection. Mind merges into soul ultimately and there is no other way for it.

Many people quote non-duality without understanding it really in its highest aspect. One who calls himself a Gnani, but whose philosophy religion and mere quoting scriptures is really by heart he thinks he is a Gnani.  He does not know that what a scripture says is true or not because he is blindly accepted scriptures without verifying them and he quotes them as proof.

There are conflicting teachings in spiritual path and one gets confused as to which are true. People are not capable of knowing, which path is true path, because they do not know the proper test of truth.

The ultimate truth lies beyond the body and experience of the world.

Why distinction should imply contradiction. What does distinction mean? It implies that two things are not the same, hence duality exists there.

What is the soul as different from mind? Soul is only a mental picture within the duality. Even if one says that it  is immortal and exist eternally, only in duality he can say it i.e. the duality itself is mere illusion.

Illusion never reaches the self, which is consciousness. The false self never knows it. He who says he has a vision of the highest or describes it as super consciousness etc. does not understand consciousness, because it is free from all  imaginations, because it exists prior to all experience and imagination.

Ordinarily knowledge arises from experience of object by a subject; that all knowledge of objects will only lead to more thinking but never gives one the ultimate reality.

Most thinkers think that   by trying and getting more and still more objective experience and then when they have enough they may get reality. But they can never get at ultimate truth that way because it leads to endless thoughts and because it ignores the formless witness, one must make the inquiry into formless witness to find reality. One need not give up its investigations into objects; they are useful empirically; but only that one should not delude him-self that it is the correct path to final Reality.

No one has ever seen the awakening of consciousness, because consciousness is prior to anything that exists.  No one has seen god creating the universe with all its contents, because he did not exist prior to Gods creation. Such talks are mere speculated hypothesis.

Yogi thinks of his body that is chakras. He imagines thee are chakras within his body, when he sits down to meditate, he is thinking his body; next he is trying to get rid of thoughts i.e. he is already thinking of those thoughts. Thus he never becomes aware of the witness because he is only aware of the witnessed. Thus any physical practice becomes bondage.   The ultimate truth lies beyond the body and experience of the world.

One can get only a thought with thinking. Meditation is only an effort to divert the attention; it is mere imagination. Remaining with or without the thoughts is not wisdom.   When one’s attention is riveted to an object within the waking or dream, he is unaware of the subject, which is consciousness. Waking or a dream are mere an object to the subject, which is consciousness.

When one is absorbed in thinking of anything, he forgets the subject is consciousness, the self, that which sees all the three states. One may think for many years but it is all thoughts arises within the waking experience, hence not consciousness because the waking experience is mere mirage created out of consciousness. But when one knows the formless substance and witness of the three states, he does get consciousness, the true self, the knower, the seer of the coming and going of the three states. The consciousness without the illusion is the eternal.

Thought and thinker are reality within the universe.

Thought and thinker are reality within the universe. The thinker and the thought exist within the universe. The man and his experience of the universe are reality within the waking experience.  The waking experience is mere illusion on the ultimate standpoint.    Therefore, the individual experiences are part of the illusion. Thus thought and the thinker are part of the illusion.

Positive and negative thoughts and the thinker are made of same material.  Whether one thinks rightly or wrongly he is thinking as person. The thoughts will not rise without the form.  Without the form there are neither thoughts nor the thinker.  Thus positive or negative thinking or right or wrong thinking are part of the physical existence and nothing to do with ultimate truth.    Experience is prior to thought. Only in waking or dream one gets thought. Therefore one has to mentally trace the source of the waking or dream experience in order to realize the waking experience is as unreal as dream.

Only in religion and yogic path one has to follow and practise. Everyone thinks he has to follow some guru or god men.  But all these methods are full of frustrations and give no real satisfaction. Reality has no method. Illusion has many methods, many problems and many concepts. To overcome illusion, or concepts, one should know the source of the mind and from where does this mind arise? “When the mind is there the universe is there. Absent of mind absent of universe.  Absent of universe is absent of duality. Absent of duality is absent of thoughts.  Thus until one becomes aware of what is mind and what is the substance of the mind it is impossible to assimilate nondual truth.

To know the nondual Reality, deeper thinking is required. The thinking faculty ceases and becomes still when it reaches the source of the mind. One has to realize the waking entity is false self within the false experience from the ultimate standpoint.

Where there is no experience then there is no duality where there no duality then there is no second thing exist other than the self-awareness.  Therefore seeker has to go deeply in Ramna’s Path and trace and overcome the obstacles. For the sincere and serious seekers the inner Ramanas grace will guide until the ignorance vanishes and he becomes aware of the fact that the diversity [universe or Illusion] is mere mirage created out of consciousness [Atman].

Upanishads declare: the human goal is to acquire Self-Knowledge

Upanishads declare:-  the human goal is to acquire Self-Knowledge and they indicate the personal gods, scriptures, worship and rituals are not the means to Self –Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana, then why anyone should indulge in it. The religion, concept of individualized god and scriptures are greatest obstacle to realize non-dual truth or self-realization, because they are based on false self.  Therefore, one has to search the ultimate truth without losing himself in the labyrinths of philosophy, he should indulge in deeper self-search and assimilate and realize it.

Seekers goal is towards Self-knowledge and noting other then it. Therefore, guru is needed in religious and yogic paths which are meant for the people who are not searching for truth but they are searching for worldly comforts and temporary peace in this physical existence.  They fear of losing their physical identity and all that is connected to the physical identity. When one realizes the physical identity [ego] is false self and the true identity is the soul, which is in the form consciousness, then he realizes that the fear factor is limited to the false self within the false experience. When the self is not form but formless consciousness all the burden and bondage of the duality is mere mirage created out of consciousness.

How does one get this self-knowledge? What is meant by self- knowledge? These are the questions which seeker has to find answer for.

Merely logical methods are insufficient for inquiry because they will not yield absolute certainty. One needs to indulge in deeper self-search.

If one thinks authoritarianism as a source of knowledge means he is in the grip of orthodox slavery. People who compile philosophical books on a basis of quoting from others as authorities are compiling useless venture, from ultimate standpoint. But in practical life in practical world, for empirical purposes authorities are acceptable, because they are experts in such specialized knowledge.

It is possible to get some knowledge through intuition, as we do through various other sources, as the senses, etc. but the question will still arise, “Is this true knowledge?” Even sense observation must be checked for truth because one has to get intuition based on nonduality not the dualistic based intuition.

In deeper self-search arise from doubts. Inquiry implies doubt, proof, evidence, so that even if God were to come and say that He is God, one would inquire into the truth of the statement.

People are overawed by doctrines enunciated upon authority of some sage or saint or institution or scripture. But one has to verify all the facts from every point of view: How does he or it know? Truth must be tested. If it is true, it will survive the test and will bear proof, but everything else must inevitably find the props of priest- crafted authority to support it.

How is one to know that this is Truth? The test has to be universally applicable, which means--will it be true in every other part of the universe, will it be true in until form, time and space exists.

Will it be true for all people who pursue deeper self-search to the utmost extent? An idea often appears to be a reality when it is not properly inquired into. Even if whole population of the universe declare that this world is the ultimate reality, their assertion is of less value than the assertions of a Gnani who have inquired into the nature and reality of the universe and found it to be mere mirage created out of consciousness.

Ultimate Truth takes things as they are. If there is any uncertainty it is not truth. It does not deal with speculations and imaginations, such as “this universe is illusion,” "the next world is around us” etc. one has not the scientific attitude because they take things as presented to them. They have rather the emotional and sentimental attitude. The right attitude is to verify all the facts, to see a problem in them, something to investigate deeply and inquire into them.

Truth must be verifiable; it is no use saying "the truth has intuitively reveled to me." It must be possible for everyone to see also. Unless it is verifiable it is of no value.  Those who lack the capacity to doubt are not fit for pursuit of truth.

The reason has to be based on the formless self not on the ego, which is false self, within the false experience. Analogical, inductive and deductive reasoning are good only within limitation of duality; none are absolutely and universally infallible because they must work under certain conditions.  The orthodox says: Believe! and one will be saved. The Gnani says: Doubt! and one  will be saved.

Many people have the desire to know the truth  but the capacity to understand is limited. The result is that people resolve the conflict by jumping to the first and simplest and easiest conclusion as the correct one, and smugly but unjustifiably thinking “They know”: Thus they commit the fallacy of primitivity.

Seeker of truth should always need proof of every teacher, pundit or yogi for their declaration. He has to verify on his own without indulging in pursuit of argument whether they are based on dualistic view point or whether they are based on non-dualistic view point.   Accept only non-dualistic viewpoint which is based on the formless self by accepting dualistic vie point, which is based on the form as self.

If the mystics says  that one can know spirit, ultimate  truth, nondual  reality, etc. only by intuition and not by intellect the  reply is :  one  can one know everything in duality  alone; when one is asleep  he cannot know anything by intuition, because there is no duality there.

This proves that if there be such a faculty as intuition is operative within  the realm of duality , and when yogis  talks of discovering the supra-mental consciousness, who or what is there, to discover it because the mind or duality  is not there? It is an absurd statement.

The psychological writings of mystics and the pseudo-scientific explanations of yogis are not inferences from the facts of their mystic experiences but mere imaginations because any such experience is possible only within the duality, which is mere illusion.

Only the ignorant mystic claims he has cosmic consciousness implies that he has gone to the other planet and seen that this consciousness was also there; he has gone to the galaxy seen it there, such claims are mere hallucination based on the false self.

Even to this day many people believe in the mythological stories to be true; that is because they have not got perfect reasoning faculty.

Until a doctrine or claim is proved to be to be true it is of no value. Until then one must not accept it. Most of the people are ignorant and trust the people who claim to know God. They are deceived by the fallacy of authority, whether it be outer or inner, and do not judge for themselves as to what is true or not. Mentality of people is still primitive or infancy stages. They are unable to think beyond form, time and space.

Logic leads to practical truth; it cannot lead one to ultimate truth because logic is based on physicality. Here reason alone can guide one to ultimate end. When logic is applied beyond its proper limits, i.e. practical life within the practical world, it becomes absurd.

The dualists are examples of this absurdity, when they say one cannot have a watch without a watchmaker and hence a world without a creator. It is a misapplication of such logic to apply it to matters outside its proper sphere of use.

It is impossible to have a mind which is non-logical, i.e. without some kind of logic. Even mentally challenged people try to draw inferences, only they are illogical, i.e. draw them wrongly. Everyone thinks logically or illogically, never non-logically. But the intellectual often confounds logic with reason.

Most people have inherited inborn tendency to believe in the supernatural, belongs to its weaknesses.

Nobody denies that mystics have their mystical experiences. But the question of their validity then arises because they have such mystical experiences within the waking experience but waking experience itself is mere illusion from ultimate stand point.

Every man says “I know?” What does he know?  This ‘I’ know business is most dangerous.   Pursuit of truth deals with fact, truth and reality, not with religion, poetry and imagination. Hence it does not trouble itself with unseen heavens beyond this world but rather with this seen world and everything that is in it. Dualistic cults ask one believe in their theories and imagine, but in pursuit of truth the onus is on the propagator to prove such claims.

One who goes on telling of unseen planes which he has never seen, who goes on merely imagining and is unable to prove it when questioned, is really laying or hallucinating. .

In pursuit of truth one has to appeal to reason, and not to intuition, belief, authority etc.  Because of its universality, because all over the world and in all times there is only a single rational truth, because reason is the only way to obtain worldwide agreement amongst all peoples, races ,religion, cult and creed   nations, groups etc. Faith, intuition etc. varies tremendously in its imagined doctrines, scripture is interpreted by every man as he likes, but reason cannot vary in its truth.

One has to verify his own understanding and views are true by deeper self-search. Intuition when used by mystics and yogis means mere blah, blah based on the physical self or ego.

The Yogic exercises are useful in particle life within the practical world. If done in the proper way they have their own value for those whose, grasping faculty is not sharp enough. If yoga is considered as tool to Self-Realization, then they are being misled. Yoga is   helpful only in preparatory stages. When yoga regarded as an end, not a means then they become hindrances and errors for they cannot give truth.

Sri, Sankara says in VivekaChudamani   :-
56. Neither by Yoga, nor by Sankhya, nor by work, nor by learning, but by the realisation of one's identity with Brahman is Liberation possible, and by no other means.
58. Loud speech consisting of a shower of words, the skill in expounding the Scriptures, and likewise erudition - these merely bring on a little personal enjoyment to the scholar, but are no good for Liberation.
59. The study of the Scriptures is useless so long as the highest Truth is unknown, and it is equally useless when the highest Truth has already been known.
60. The Scriptures consisting of many words are a dense forest which merely causes the mind to ramble. Hence men of wisdom should earnestly set about knowing the true nature of the Self.
61. For one who has been bitten by the serpent of Ignorance, the only remedy is the knowledge of Brahman. Of what avail are the Vedas and (other) Scriptures, Mantras (sacred formulae) and medicines to such a one?
62. A disease does not leave off if one simply utter the name of the medicine, without taking it; (similarly) without direct realisation one cannot be liberated by the mere utterance of the word Brahman.
63. Without causing the objective universe to vanish and without knowing the truth of the Self, how is one to achieve Liberation by the mere utterance of the word Brahman ? — It would result merely in an effort of speech.
64. Without killing one’s enemies, and possessing oneself of the splendour of the entire surrounding region, one cannot claim to be an emperor by merely saying, ‘I am an emperor’.
65. As a treasure hidden underground requires (for its extraction) competent instruction, excavation, the removal of stones and other such things lying above it and (finally) grasping, but never comes out by being (merely) called out by name, so the transparent Truth of the self, which is hidden by Maya and its effects, is to be attained through the instructions of a knower of Brahman, followed by reflection, meditation and so forth, but not through perverted arguments.
66. Therefore the wise should, as in the case of disease and the like, personally strive by all the means in their power to be free from the bondage of repeated births and deaths.
67. The question that thou hast asked today is excellent, approved by those versed in the Scriptures, aphoristic, pregnant with meaning and fit to be known by the seekers after Liberation.

Pursuit of argument is not pursuit of truth. Agreeing and disagreeing with each other’s views will not yield nondual wisdom. Healthy discussion on the subject and humility and patience and friendly interaction will only help seeker in his inner journey.  Just by criticizing any masters or teachers of the past, the wisdom will not dawn. Many masters and their teaching of the past have contributed to seeking world in their own way.  Some may find some teachers view or teaching are inadequate and useless in quenching the spiritual thirst. It is for the seeker to highlight on what standpoint they are inadequate and useless and how they are blocking his realization.  Mutual respect to each other is necessary in spiritual interaction.

The path of religion, path of yoga and the path of wisdom were intended for different classes of people. The wisdom is for the advanced seekers of truth. It deals with the nature of the ultimate Truth and Reality. It is meant for superior aspirants who have inner urge to know the truth and it is not for those who are immersed in earthly desires.

To understand, assimilate the nondual truth needs a totally different kind of approach. There is no need to convince others but one has to get firm conviction of the truth for himself. If one is receptive and sharp he will be able to grasp it. Even Upanishads clearly declares:-

Mediocre minds waste their time on arguing about unimportant matters. Accumulation of scriptural knowledge is dangerous in pursuit of truth. Seeker has to establish in the truth of Non-duality by sheer reasoning alone. Seeker has to begin by defining "What is real?" "What is unreal?" etc, because that is the right way to discuss, understand and assimilate self-knowledge.  Thus seeker has to remove all the blockades which are blocking his realization.

 Katha Upanishad:
This Ataman cannot be attained by the study of the Vedas, or by intelligenceor by much hearing of sacred books. It is attained by him alone whom It chooses. To such a one Ataman reveals Its own form. [Katha Upanishad Ch-II -23-P-20]
Mundaka Upanishad  :-
This Ataman cannot be attained through study of the Vedas, nor through intelligence, nor through much learning. He who chooses Ataman—by him alone is Ataman attained. It is Ataman that reveals to the seeker Its true nature. [    3 –page-70 Mundaka Upanishad  Upanishads by Nikilanada]

Sri, Ramana Maharishi said: scriptural knowledge is conceptual divisions invented by teachers of philosophy by their excessive analysis. Where do all these concepts end? Why should confusion created and then explained away? Fortunate is the man who does not lose himself in the labyrinths of philosophy, but goes straight to the source from which they all arise.
Ramana Maharishi indicated the direct path to the truth, is the source from which the false arises. Thus the source is the soul/ Ataman, which is the true self. Ataman itself is Brahman.  Thus it is necessary to view the worldview on the base of the source, which the true self, and formless substance and witness of the experience of diversity. Thus deeper inquiry, analysis and reasoning on the true base, one can acquire the self –knowledge in lesser time and effort.  The unity in diversity is possible only through self-knowledge not by mastering the scriptural knowledge.
One has to bifurcate the physicalized Advitha [religious add-ons]   which is meant for the mass mind set, who are incapable inquire to verifying their inherited beliefs.  But for the seekers truth, to get the pure essence of nonduality which is based on the formless soul. The path of inquiry, analysis and reasoning on the true base, leads one towards the nondual destination.  Therefore, there is need to rectify the seeking base from ego base to soul base to understand, assimilate and realize the non-dual truth.

Ramana Maharishi says: this self –inquiry is not the critical study of the scriptures. When the source is reached the ego gets merged into it. The result of self-inquiry is the cure for all the sorrows. It is the highest of all the results. There is nothing greater then it.  It only indicates there is no necessity to study the scriptures to acquire self-knowledge. [Page-66-practicle guide to know yourself c/e by A.R.N].
Ramana Maharishi  says:

Q by D:- Is not necessary to study the Vedas or at least the Prasthanatraya [the Bhagavad Gita,Dasopanishad and Brahma Sutras, all with commentaries]to ensure firm realization?

Ramana Maharishi:-No. Do you need all that to see yourself? All that is intellectual wealth, useful in explain doubts and difficulties if others rise them or if you yourself encounter them in the course of thinking. But to attain realization, all that is not necessary. You want fresh water to drink, but you do not require all the water of the river Ganges to quench your thirst. [Page 111/112 of Practical guide to know yourself c/e by A.R.N].
Nonduality does not need the support of any Scripture or Revelation like the Veda. For it is based, not upon the varying theological fancies, which are as numerous as the sands of the sea, but upon reason, the common heritage of all mankind, irrespective of colour or creed or clime.

Seeker of truth has to know that something is inadequate in Buddhist or Advaitic teachings to reach the nondual destination because of the add-ons and adulteration. Thus it becomes difficult to reach destination directed by the Buddha, Sri, Sankara and Sri,Goudapada.

It is for the seeker to go on his own and remove the obstacle.  The greatest hindrance is mixing religion, god, scriptures, and yogic theories. Moreover, attachment to scriptures, personal god and religious code of conduct keeps one permanently in the grip of duality.

For the same reason Raman Maharshi said:  fortunate are the one who do not lose themselves in the labyrinths of philosophy. Bhagwan says: Take Vedanta, for instance: it speaks of 15 pranas the names and functions of it   which the student is asked to commit memory. Will it not be sufficient if he thought, only one prana does the whole work of maintaining the body? Again the antakaran is said to think, to desire, to will, to reason etc. Why all these details? Has anyone seen antakarana, or all these pranas? Do they really exist? They are conceptual divisions invented by teachers of philosophy by their excessive analysis. Where do all these concepts end? Why should confusion created and then explained away? Fortunate is the man who does not lose himself in the labyrinths of philosophy, but goes straight to the source from which they all arise. (GURU RAMANA .By S.S Cohen -vii Danger of philosophy-Page -58-59)

One is seeking truth for himself, thus it is very personal journey of verification. Truth has to be ascertained and proved for his own realization.   Path of wisdom path is independent path nothing to do with the religion and scriptures.  Thus seeker has to indulge in deeper self-search to understand assimilate and realize non-dual truth by avoiding the path of argument and perversion, which leads nowhere.   Share each other’s view with respecting each other and inspiring   everyone.  Thus let us use the precious time to know our true identity which is beyond form, time and space.

The knower and known and the knowledge are also consciousness

The true self is the soul, which is in the form of consciousness. Consciousness is changeless witness of the body and world together. This changeless witness is the awareness. Consciousness exists both ways of "in association with waking or dream or duality and dissociation waking and dream and duality as in deep sleep.

It can remain with or without the waking or dream or duality. When ignorance vanishes through wisdom then the three states are mere mirage created out of consciousness. Thus consciousness alone is.

In self-awareness change and changeless are one in essence than only there is self-awareness.  The knower and known and the knowledge are also consciousness. When the self which is consciousness becomes aware of its own formless true nature in the midst of diversity or duality it is called self –awareness.

Man and his experience of the world is product of ignorance. Thus it is not the man who is in ignorance; it is the formless self, which is in ignorance of its true nature.  When self becomes aware of its true nature than its ignorance vanishes and it alone prevails in its own awareness.   Thus body, senses, intellect, ego, world are mere mirage created out of consciousness.
The consciousness is the maker and the preserver of the mind, which is in the form of universe, and it appears as waking and dream and disappears as deep sleep. The Self-Knowledge is the foundation of all physical based knowledge.

By knowing the fact that, the consciousness as the true self of which all three states becomes known?

Two kinds of knowledge must be known. They are the spiritual Knowledge and the physical knowledge.   Of these two, the physical knowledge is of the worldly life.    And the spiritual [self] Knowledge is that by which the ultimate truth is attained.
By means of the Self- Knowledge, the Gnani behold everywhere consciousness, which otherwise cannot be seen or seized, which has no root or attributes, no eyes or ears, no hands or feet; which is eternal and omnipresent, all—pervading and extremely subtle; which is imperishable and the source of the mind, which appears as waking and dream and disappears as deep sleep.

As the spider sends forth and draws in its thread, as plants grow on the earth, as hair grows on the head and the body of a living man—so does mind, which is   in the form of  universe arise from the Imperishable consciousness.

Ignorant , dwelling in darkness, but the intellectuals  in their own conceit and puffed up with vain scholarship, wander about, being afflicted by many ills, like blind men led by the blind.

People, immersed in ignorance in various ways, flatter themselves, saying: We have accomplished life's purpose. Because these performers of karma do not know the Truth owing to their attachment, they fall from heaven, misery— stricken, when the fruit of their work is exhausted.

Ignorant, regarding religious rituals and humanitarian works as the highest, do not know ultimate truth. Thinking of their good work, with a motive to get reward for it in the next life or next world    they remain ignorant of higher truth.

Let a seeker, after having examined the mind and its substance that are gained by inquiry, analysis and reasoning, acquire freedom from experiencing the illusion as reality: nothing that is eternal can be produced by what is not eternal. In order that he may understand assimilate and realize that Eternal consciousness.

The  seeker who has intense urge to know the truth , whose has the humility to listen  and whose is receptive, who does not use his accumulated knowledge as yardstick,  will be able to understand ,assimilate and realize the Self- Knowledge, through which one knows the consciousness, which is formless and nondual in its nature.

Consciousness is the self—luminous and formless soul, uncreated and existing both within and without. Consciousness is devoid of life, devoid of mind, pure and higher than the supreme Imperishable.

From consciousness are born the three states.   From consciousness come mind, which contains the oceans and the mountains, rivers of every kind of plants and flavours.

The mind alone is the universe.  And consciousness is the substance and witness of the mind. The consciousness, hidden within the three states — He who knows this ultimate truth will be able to cross the threshold of duality.
When self is not the form but self is formless than why indulge in attributes based theories which belongs to the form.   Smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, love for our friends family and kids are necessary in practical life within the practical world.   But experience of practical life within the practical world is mere illusion from the ultimate standpoint.  Thus whatever, seen, known, believed and experienced in practical life within the practical world is bound to be illusion. Due to ignorance the illusion is experienced as reality.  Only through wisdom the ignorance the illusion will not prevail as reality.  Thus human goal is to get rid of the ignorance through wisdom. By indulging in physical oriented theories and ideas will give temporary happiness.

People have the notion that more and more they gratify their senses for attaining worldly pleasures, the happier they will be is not true at all, because they think the physical self is real self, therefore they are unaware of the fact that the self not physical but formless consciousness. The consciousness can stay with or without the mind/’I’.

It is the illusory sense-pleasure that is responsible for the forgetfulness of the Self, which is in the form of consciousness, which result in one’s sorrows and sufferings.

Suffering is the reminder to search for the remedy to overcome the suffering caused by the ignorance of the true self. Pleasure is the cause of ignorance .but if the real self is realized, and then, illusion will not prevails as reality.

Mortals become attached to worldly pleasures because they are  in ignorance of the reality of their true existence.

It is the illusion that allures one to enjoy the mundane objects in a futile effort of satisfying the unceasing demands of his senses within the waking or dream. A person within the illusion becomes intoxicated of lust, greed, anger, attachment, false ego, enviousness, stubborn mindedness, and their numerous variations within the illusion.

Consequently, the individual self gets caught in the illusory cycle of birth, old age, disease, and death within the illusion. This is illusion, by which the consciousness is forgotten; emotional attachment and love of duality is born.

The ignorance of the true self is cause of duality. The duality is cause of illusion. The illusion is the cause of experiencing unreality as reality.

Because of this pluralistic phenomena of illusory -vision, the material happiness appears to be followed by sorrow. If there is laughter, there is a cry; if there is a birth, there is a death; if there is a rich, there is a poor; so on and so forth.

Everything in the waking or dream experience is in the state of constant flux; there can be found no everlasting happiness. The ego is in the control of evil passions, evil intent, and duality.
Everyone wishes for happiness, pleasures, joy, peace, etc. and none asks for suffering, misery, etc. But in the wake of pleasure, there comes suffering. The pleasure and pain co-exists within the illusion.  People do not understand this.

In a moment, all pleasures of the physical world within the illusion give sense of reality   because of which the consciousness was forgotten.

The freedom from experiencing the duality as reality comes from identifying the self with consciousness. Instead, due to our ignorance of the consciousness, which is the true Self, one seeks everlasting happiness in never lasting sense objects.

If one wants freedom from illusory reality then one has to realize the fact that, the consciousness is the true self. Without identifying the consciousness, which is the formless substance and witness of the mind, it is very difficult to acquire nondual wisdom.

The belief that material wealth is the source of real security in one's life is reality within the falsehood.  In reality, this entire physical world is false and temporary. It is not possible for an impermanent thing can provide another impermanent thing with a permanent security.

Due to physical consciousness, one feels secure if he has money. On the contrary, he feels insecure if he does not have money. False ones love falsehood within the falsehood. People struggle to acquire material wealth in order to get security in material life, but they fail to realize the fact that they and their experience of universe is mere mirage.  When physical consciousness disappears then the mirage vanishes and consciousness alone prevails as nondual existence.

People collect or struggle to collect wealth throughout their lives, but they are unaware of the fact that they and their experience of the universe exist within the falsehood.
Deluded by doubts and confusion, they think day and night; and try to search the truth, which fits their physical outfit.

It is not rejecting the life in total, but realizing the fact that, the burden and bondage of the duality is not on the physical self, which is the cause of anxiety in day today life but it is on the soul which is the true self. Know the truth, and that truth sets you free from experiencing the duality [pain and pleasure] as reality.

Until we are unaware of the fact that the self is not physical we simply take the authorship of the experience o duality and experience the illusory pain and pleasure as reality. When we become aware of the fact that, we are not the author of our own experience then only the burden is shifted to the true author which is the soul. The biblical insight says:- Cast the burden on Christ[truth] within and you go free.

It is the same way rejecting the burden of bondage of the dream after waking, consciously reject the reality of the waking in the midst of waking and live life in celebration of peace and tranquillity of the non-duality in the midst of duality.  Only when you are soul oriented then only the witnessing happens and life [pain and pleasure] becomes a passing show.
