The “Self cannot be defined at all

Remembrance also is similarly relative, requiring an object to be remembered and a subject to remember. When there is no duality, who is to remember whom? The “Self /Soul “is ever-present. Each one wants to know the Self, which is the soul.

Seekers require knowing the true self is not physical but the formless spirit. The “Self” is not something new, but it is eternal and remains the same all along. People think it is some sort of blazing light but it is not so.  It is not light, not darkness. It is only as it is. It cannot be defined.

The best definition is “Self” is not physical but it is the formless “Spirit”.  The scriptures speak of the Self as being the size of one's thumb, the tip of the hair, an electric spark, vast, subtler than the subtlest, etc. They have no foundation in fact. It is only being, but different from the real and the unreal; it is knowledge, but different from knowledge and ignorance.

The “Self cannot be defined at all because it is prior to everything which can be defined.

The “Self “is absolute and requires no object.

The reality which shines fully, without waking or dream , not only when the waking or dream  is known but also when the waking or dream  is not known, is real form of the soul or true self.

The consciousness is present equally within and without the mind, is the supreme primal reality. Its form is silence and final and unobstructable state of true knowledge. Seeker has to  know that non-dual wisdom alone is non-attachment; non-dual wisdom alone is purity; non dual wisdom is the attainment of ultimate truth ; non-dual wisdom  which is devoid of forgetfulness of Self alone is immortality; non-dual wisdom  alone is everything.

“Self” is in the form of awareness. Awareness is another name for the Self. Since “Self “is awareness there is no need to attain or cultivate it. All that has to do is to give up being aware of other things other then the “Self”. That is of three states. If one gives up being aware of them then pure awareness alone remains and that is the “Self”.

“Self “is itself aware of dual and non-dual experiences.  There is no duality in reality. Duality is due to the ego and is only relative. Relative knowledge requires a subject and an object, whereas the awareness of the “Self “is absolute and requires no object.

Seeker has to start with mind which is the matter

When one inquires who is the experiencer of the three states, one does gets soul/self, the knower, the witness of the three states, which is eternal.

Yoga cannot yield nondual truth because everything that yogi does or practices and experiences within the ‘known.' Yoga yields relative truth, i.e. true from a particular viewpoint, not ultimate truth.

Man and all the objects of the world within the waking or dream are known ,and passing away every moment, hence unreal. Hence we ought not to get attached to the passing show. Not only we individuals will change and die, but empires and mountains and the population will disappear with the waking or dream.

Seeker has to start with mind which is the matter. He has to analyze mind and taking away from it all those portions which are ever changing or passing, he gets at the formless witness of the ever-changing.

When a seeker is able to make the distinction between formless witness and the three states then he be able will understand the fact that what is truth and what is untruth. The soul/self/sprit is present everywhere in everything in the three states.

There are two factors to remember:-the knowing capacity and that which is known. The three states are known, and they are all passing away and are therefore unreal. Without the knowing capacity i.e. the knower/witness in existence there could have been no such thing as knowing these things.  Knowing implies two factors, the knower or the knowing capacity, or that which becomes aware; and the known. Without these two factors one cannot use the word know.

The known [three states] always passes away. When one is able to distinguishing between knower and known, he becomes aware of the fact that the subject is the formless knower and object is the waking/dream, which is full of forms and shapes. When waking and dream disappears, the soul/self alone prevails as eternal existence.

The nondual truth is always real. Reality does not exist with forms and names and feeling. That which underlies these is the reality. Reality underlies limitations, being itself limitless. Reality is not bound. Reality underlies unrealities, itself being real. Reality is that which is. Reality is as it is. Reality transcends speech. Reality is beyond the expressions `existence, non-existence.

The reality which is the mere consciousness that remains when ignorance is destroyed along with knowledge of objects, alone is the Self [soul]. In that nondual real form of the Soul, which is abundant Self-awareness, there is not the least ignorance.

The soul or self is the ultimate cause of the illusion, and it itself is uncaused.

The nature of the self or soul is Consciousness. Soul/self   is the source and essence of the three states.
The mind/ ’I’ rises from the spirit and subsides as the spirit.  The spirit is the true self and the source of the mind from where it rises and subsides. Self or the soul, in addition to being material, efficient, formal and final causes of the illusory experiences of the three states. And it is beyond all physical experience.
The true “Self” is also beyond the three states, and thus does not quite fit with the usual connotations of religion propagated conceptual god. The individual gods are mere ideas invented by organized religion. In spirituality the word god has no meaning. Spirituality is pure truth pursuit to realize the fact that, the experience of diversity is mere illusion created out single stuff that is spirit. Thus, there is no second thing exist other then spirit.
“Soul/Self “cannot be known by material means that we cannot be made conscious of it, because soul is our very consciousness. Soul/Self  is also not restricted to the usual dimensional perspectives of being, and thus enlightenment, moksha, yoga, samadhi, nirvana, etc. do not merely mean to know Self/soul, but to realise one's ‘Self , to actually realise the fact that  that the diversity is mere illusion the formless substance and witness of the illusion is the Soul or  true Self .  Thus, the soul or self   is the ultimate cause of the illusion, and it itself is uncaused.
