Desire, attachment, passion has to be regarded part of illusion.

The religionists and yogis  cannot get over their tallest hurdle, not because they cannot see that the physical  self is false self,  but because they are so strongly attached to the physical self , that they modify or fit their theories to please this attachment. In short, they refuse to give up their egocentricity.
People who  accepted  body and world as real will not be able to assimilate Self-Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana .  Yoga and mysticism, is for  the middling class of intelligence. Those who grasp that they are mere mirage belong to the highest grade of intellects.
Desire, attachment, passion has to be  regarded part of illusion.  Without considering them as illusion  handicaps to path, because they prevent one from  accepting truth.
Naturally one  will say "I like my car . It is so comfortable and luxurious. And he  refuse to regard it as a mere mirage," if he is  so passionately attached to its reality. They do not necessarily mean specific desires for wealth, women, etc.
The  higher truth should not be discussed with    anyone who is  non-receptive and incapable of grasping the truth that three states are mere mirage.
Non-dual truth  is verified knowledge. Most people cannot grasp it, because they have stuck to the reality of the practical life and practical world  ." Unless one is able to realize the  fact that, the formless  soul, which is present in the form of consciousness  is the true self  , he will not be able to  grasp the ultimate truth or Brahman.
One has to  get rid of attachments to reality of body and world and help himself  to know them as illusion. The  the body ,ego , senses and the world are  reality within the illusion.  Thus there is no need to control the senses to realize the ultimate truth
It is absolutely necessary  to Know the fact that ,  waking or dream   are not different from the mind.  They are mind itself.  the formless substance witness of the mind is soul or consciousness, which is the innermost self.  from the standpoint of the innermost self the three states are illusory.
Before one  can arrive at a knowledge that the physical existence or universe  is  really an illusion he must study, investigate .
Scientists say now that matter is mind-body. But the truth  is mind itself is the  matter. No scientist has been able to explain how and when the  consciousness--came into existence.

The thinker and thought are part of the illusion or mirage. The thought will not arise without the form.  The form will not arise without the mind. The minds cease to exist without the soul , which is in the form of consciousness.  Therefore, there is a need to know the “Self” is not limited to the physical entity, but it pervades in everything and everywhere in all the three states.   The self [consciousness] remains in its formless non-dual true nature which is identified as deep sleep in ignorance or duality.
There is neither thinker, nor the thought in reality. The one who bases himself on the thinker and thought or creation and creator will not be able cross the threshold duality.  All the three states are created, sustained by the consciousness and finally dissolves itself remains in its formless nondual nature. There is no second thing other than the consciousness. Thus everything else other than the consciousness is illusion.  Thus the consciousness alone is real all else is mere mirage.
Thus, the individual experiences, which are happening within the waking experience, are also as good as dream. The one which is aware of the appearance and disappearance of the three states is the consciousness.  Thus, the thought arises to the individual.  And Individuality is falsehood within the false experience.  Thus it is necessary to know the self is not ‘I’ but the formless consciousness in order to grasp the non-dual truth
