When self is not the body it is erroneous to seek truth on the base of body or 'I' as self.

The essence of Vedas the mother of all the scriptures declare that DEHUM-NAHAM-KOHUM-SOHUM, which means SELF IS NOT THE BODY - SELF IS THAT, when self is not the body it is erroneous to seek truth on the base of body or 'I' as self.

One has to know the Vedas in pure form which has been mixed and messed up in time. For that one has to go through Great Vedic Master, Swami, Dayanada Saraswti of Arya Samaja who has bifurcated what is not in Vedas in his book Satyarth Prakshana. Thus it is necessary to bifurcate Veads from all additions then only one will be able to speak of what really they are.

Since everyone is sentimentally and emotionally involved with Vedas and religion we never go to check the pure essence. Vedas are mostly code of conduct how the human being has to live and behave and judge for himself what is wrong and right. But truth lies beyond Vedas. One has to do his own home work. Therefore to know the self it is not possible through Vedas.

The pure Advith Vedanta is nothing to do with religion, concept of god and scriptures. That is why the Upanishads says religion, scriptures and god glorification and yoga are not the means to self realization. Therefore, Buddha rejected Vedas, concept of god and religion. there is no end in arguing who is correct and who is wrong. A well directed inquiry and reasoning on the true base will help the seeker to realize the self in lesser time and effort.

Therefore it is better to do our own home work without religion and god glorification scriptural studies TO DISCOVER AND REALIZE WHAT IS SELF.
