The seeker of truth has to start fresh by dropping all the accumulated dross. A clean slate without belief, without dogma, without faith. Then there is a possibility that he may find 'what is the truth' and what is untruth'. And the truth is neither in religion, nor in gods’ belief, nor in yoga. And the truth is not in the scriptures, nor in the theories, nor in the practices. The truth that is nowhere written cannot be written. It is impossible to write it. It has never been uttered by anyone, and it is not going to be uttered by anyone. The truth has to be discovered mentally and grasped and realized.
Perfect understanding cannot arise till one is receptive receive
Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana. One will not become receptive to Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana till he drops
the religion, concept of god, scriptures, yoga and all inherited beliefs.
Truth -realization may be achieved at first, by perfect understanding,
but later this must be stabilized into permanency. And as the Gnani knows the
three states are unreal and the formless substance and witness of the three
states, which is the soul or Atman, which is in the form of consciousness is the true
self. And consciousness is real and eternal.
Gnani knows there is no difference between the mind and its substance.
Gnani knows the universal truth cannot be individualized.
If God exists, as he does for religionists, and exists separately from
them, then there is duality, which always implies contradiction. But on the
base of soul as self God is an idea, a thought, an object within the experience
of duality, therefore it is the part of the illusion caused by the false
identification with ‘ego or waking entity ’, which is the false self.
The idea of god ceases to exist without the experience of duality.
Without duality there is no man, no world, and no god. The duality is reality
only in ignorance. The religion and its idea of god is greatest hindrance in
pursuit of truth, because it blocks once thinking process and will not allow it
to think of the beyond form, time and space.
When there are two, there is always contradiction, one theory
contradicts another .One theory seems correct at one point of view, and the
other at another point of view, both theories contradict; one cannot get un
-contradictable results. Therefore dualistic views based on the ‘I’ as self is
always contradictable and non dualistic views based on the soul as self is un-
contradictable.
One cannot find non-contradiction in this world or duality. On the
standpoint of soul as self the God does not exist, because his existence
implies that one is different from Him. Any kind of difference means
contradiction. Nothing other than the soul or consciousness exists in reality.
Non-duality means the negation of ignorance.
Truth is not only that which is beyond contradiction, but also that in
which is no possibility of contradiction. Such a state can only be realized as
non-duality, where there is no second thing. The illustration for that is deep
sleep but sleep is not the ultimate reality. It is merely an analogy. If one
thinks there is another entity whether man or God there is no truth." This
is understanding and realization of those who have inquired and reasoned on the base of the formless soul, the innermost self.
"Jesus said:-"Those who seek should not stop seeking until they find. When they find,
they will be disturbed. When they are disturbed, they will marvel, and will
reign over all." (Gospel of Thomas 2)
"The Kingdom
of God is inside you and all around you, Not in a mansion of wood and
stone. Split a piece of wood and God is there, Lift a stone and you
will find God." (Gospel
of Thomas)
Sage Sri Sankara
–VC--"All this universe which through ignorance appears as of diverse
forms, is nothing else but Brahman which is absolutely free from all the
limitations of human thought
It is this Supreme Oneness which alone is real, since there is
nothing else but the Self. Verily, there remains no other independent entity in
the state of realization of the highest Truth."
When
the Upanishad says: the human goal is to
acquire Self-Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana and they indicate the personal gods, scriptures, worship
and rituals are not the means to Self –Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana, then why anyone should
indulge in it. The religion, concept of individualized god and scriptures are
greatest obstacle to realize non-dual truth or self-realization, because they
are based on false self. The seeker of
truth has to search the ultimate truth without losing himself in the labyrinths
of philosophy, through deeper, inquiry, analysis and reasoning and assimilate
and realize it.
That is why Sage Sri Sankara, indicated in
Bhaja Govindam says: - [Jnana Viheena Sarva Mathena Bajathi na Muktim janma Shatena]
- one without knowledge does not obtain liberation
even in a hundred births, no matter which religious faith he follows.
Then
it is no use going roundabout way, trace the Brahman which is the formless
substance and witness of the universe, which is in the form of mind. By tracing the source of the mind or universe
one will be able to realize the Brahman.
Thus, Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana is
meant only for those who have intense urge, and courage to accept the truth
with humility and reject the untruth. Since people start comparing with their
scriptural knowledge, it becomes impossible to assimilate and realize the
non-dual truth. Therefore, there is no need to convince anyone
other than our own-selves to get the firm conviction.
So
they clearly indicate rituals and theories are not meant for those who are
searching for the higher knowledge or wisdom.
The path of wisdom is the only means.
