There is no single correct path, which leads to direct realization. Every teacher claims his teaching leads to realization of ultimate Truth.
Ultimate truth is devoid of distinguishing marks, beyond time and thought. It defies description. Deeper self-search leads one inward bringing increased self-knowledge until he grasps ,assimilates and realizes what no words can describe. Ultimate Truth is an exact correspondence to reality, not an insight or speculative thought.
The one who does not know any philosophy and he is without the accumulated knowledge will be able to grasp in lesser time. A silent listener will be able to assimilate in lesser time and effort. But to a person who argues on his own standpoint and trying to show his mastery over the knowledge will not be able to grasp the non-dual truth even after many years. Discussing with scriptural masters, believers of belief system or theoretical philosophers are in vain. They remain the same – an ignorant.
Varied are the names of ocean but the water of the ocean is the same. The diversity within the universe with names forms and things but they are made of single substance, which is consciousness. Consciousness is the innermost self. The innermost self is God.
The universe is manifestations of the consciousness, which is the inner most self, which people call it as Spirit/ Self/Brahman / Christ/ Buddha/ emptiness/ Spirit/ nothingness.
Thus when we identity with our inherited belief system it with diverse belief it becomes difficult to know the whole humanity is created out of single stuff, which is consciousness. The consciousness is identified by different belief system with different names and forms. Until one goes deeper in search it becomes difficult for anyone to accept anything other than his inherited belief.
Thus following any belief system will not lead one to the inner reality. Thus it is necessary to know the ultimate truth, and the truth will set one free from experiencing the duality as reality."
Sri, Sankara says:-
"Illness is not cured by saying the word 'medicine,' but by taking medicine. Enlightenment is not achieved by repeating the word 'God' but by directly experiencing God. Talk as much philosophy as you like, worship as many gods as you please, observe as many ceremonies and sing devotional hymns, but liberation will never come, even after a hundred eons, without realizing Oneness, Wholeness."
Yoga Vasishtha :- "Teachers, interpretations of sacred texts, the force of religious merit--none of these lead to the realization of that Ultimate Truth which is revealed in the clear reflection of the heart, engendered from contact with the good."
