Self-knowledge
is knowledge of all-inclusive and undifferentiated Reality. Knowledge of the
self is difficult to understand and assimilate it because of inborn samskara or
conditioning which is cause of the ignorance.
The ignorance is cause of experiencing the practical life within the
practical world as reality.
Self –knowledge cannot be got even
with the help of the various Scriptures. Even great sages of Advaita say:-
the truth is beyond scriptural knowledge. And scriptures themselves
declare the fact that, the self-knowledge cannot be attain through scriptural
mastery.
Even orthodox
people with all their discipline who are trying to acquire through their path
of action and conduct will not be able to acquire self-knowledge because they
are unaware of the fact that, the self is not form but formless. They are stuck
with the reality of experience of birth, life, death and the world. And they
fail to overcome from the egocentric ideas of rebirth and reincarnation,
heaven, hell and sin. When the birth, life, death and karma and their idea of god are reality within the universe. the universe is mere illusion then how one gets moksha or freedom by performing rituals with the false entity within the false experience. Thus orthodox
people are stuck in the prison of physicality.
The self-knowledge will not arise until one realizes the fact that the self is not form but self is formless consciousness. Thus, if one wants Gnana than he has to reject the orthodoxy in total.

Seeker of truth
should be ready to verify every concept or so called truth for himself till he
is convinced it is un-contradictable truth rather than accepting everything
blindly.
A musk deer runs like mad to catch that
powerful fragrance, which is coming from its own abdomen. Poor animal, all
through its life, he is unfulfilled-unsatisfied because it is never able to
catch that fragrance, which is within it.
Man is like musk deer he is in search of unknown which is
hidden within the waking experience but it is without the waking experience.
Absolute inherence in Reality means becoming one
with the immutable, tranquil, formless and non-dual –Consciousness, which is
the Self of all, and making the restless mind one with it, absolutely free from
experiencing the form, time and space as reality. By realizing the form, time
and space are one in essence, one enters in to self-awareness. In
self-awareness, the self is still in the midst of duality because there is only
conscious awareness of the formless essence [consciousness]. Thus there is no second thing exist other
than consciousness because form, time and space are also become one with their
essence.
In deeper self-search When one scrutinizes this
three states one realizes that they does not really exist and that everything
is the undifferentiated consciousness. Consciousness is the inner most self.
The three states are mere mirage created out of the
consciousness, which is inner most self. If, this knowledge become firm with
conviction through constant reflecting on the subject matter then the
Self-knowledge sinks in. Then, mentally discarding mirage everything, become
one with the consciousness, which is ultimate reality or Brahman.
Mind is in the form of universe. Universe appears as waking or dream. The mind has to be abided as consciousness by realizing the mind itself is mirage created out of consciousness. When scrutinized through deeper self-search it reveals the fact that, the duality in the form of waking or dream is mere mirage. Thus our experience of the birth, life, death and world and form, time and space are part and parcel of that mirage. Thus trying to find meaning for the false experience and trying to connect to the self is meaningless venture. The self is nothing to do with the three states. Therefore the self is nothing to do neither with birth, life, death and the world nor with the form, time and space nor with the cause and effect because the self is not an individual but it is formless and it is the subject[self or consciousness] without the object[three states].
The ultimate truth or Brahman has to be mentally grasped
and assimilated and realized not argued on one’s own standpoint.
A Gnani finds it foolish to challenge and argue with
anyone about the ultimate truth but he puts forward his views and leaves it
there. If the seeker is receptive and ready for path of wisdom will accept it
others will indulge pursuit of perverse argument not reaching anywhere. They
are grinding the grinding stone without the grain.
As
long as one has the conviction he is an individual separate from the world and
world existed prior to him and he is born in it later on he is bound to remain
ignorance and experiences the illusion as reality. This conviction makes him base his self on
the physical plane and his views and judgment is always based on the ego, which
is false self within the false experience. Thus basing the judgment and opinion
on the waking entity is erroneous because the waking entity is not the self. Therefore the intellectual judgment based on
the waking entity leads to hallucination.
When
through wisdom one becomes aware of the fact and realizes the self is neither
the waking entity nor the dream entity but the formless substance and witness of
the three states and realizes the fact that, the body and the experience of the
universe are one in essence than the duality ceases, because there is no second
thing exists other than that essence, which is consciousness.
As
long as the waking entity thinks it is separate from consciousness, it has the
firm conviction that the experience of the birth, life, death and the world as
reality. .But when through self-knowledge its realizes its identity with consciousness,
which is the innermost self, it experience of the birth, life, death and the
world no longer prevails as reality.
The fear within practical life within practical
world is reality within the duality. The duality reality within the waking
experience but the waking experience itself is mere mirage created out of
consciousness, which is the inner most self. Form the standpoint of the inner
most self all the three states are false hood. Thus whatever seen, known,
believed and experienced as person of the world within the waking experience is
falsehood.
