Some find the pursuit of truth is difficult because they have not acquired necessary competence for it. Without rectifying the reasoning base from ego [form] base to soul [formless base] base, it is not possible to acquire self-knowledge. Therefore, it is necessary to rectify the reasoning base mentally by realizing the fact that that ‘I’ is not the self.
By reflecting constantly on the formless witness of the three states, seeker can become aware of the fact that the three states are unreal, the formless substance, and the witness of the three states, which is the soul/spirit, is real.
The waking and dream disappears and when it is without the waking and dream, the witness will remain in its formless non-dual true nature, which is identified as deep sleep on the physical base or ego. Thus, the ego is the cause of the ignorance. Until one views, judges and concludes the worldview on the base of ego he will not be able to assimilate the self-knowledge.
The Self-Knowledge is –Self-Release. Due to ignorance caused by the ego, one imagines self is bound, and makes various and strenuous attempt to become free, whereas the soul/self is ever free.
The non-dual true nature of the self can be regained only through Self-Knowledge. The self-knowledge can be gained, only when one realizes the fact that, the three states, which appear and disappear, are unreal and the formless substance and witness of the three states, which is the soul or consciousness, is real and eternal.
When the physical body is not the experience of the physical body itself than whatever seen,known,believed and experienced as a person of the world is bound to be falsehood. the self is not an entity or identity within the waking experience because it pervades in everything and everywhere in all the three states. therefore , the self is neither the waking entity nor the self is dream entity but self is the formless witness and knower of the three states. the self is within the three states as their formless substance and self is without the three states as their formless witness. many are holding ego or waking entity as self is asking anyone is seen a self without the form is still has to go much deeper to realize the self is not the waking entity which sees the world which confronts it but the self which sees the waking experience or dream as whole. the self has to mentally grasped and realized not theorized on the base of false self or waking entity. A Gnani is fully aware of the self , even though he has a body, he has no body, even though he experiences the world, there is no world because for him body and the world are mere mirage created out of consciousness. It takes a very long time for those intellectuals understand,assimilate and realize non-dualistic truth, who holds their accepted truth as yardstick.
