In one way the core of F.S guidance is easy to grasp, and extremely difficult in another. It is easy if seekers are willing to be completely honest with themselves, to look at the concepts of others with which they have built their own prisons. To investigate for true self can be extremely difficult because they are very attached to their own idea of truth, their own conditioning and their accumulated dross – they don't want to give them up. But if the intense urge is a burning desire, then they will set forth on their course. They can only know what truth is and what is untruth by personal verification through inquiry and reasoning, not from mere reading and listening books or others without verifying them. Nothing should be accepted truth without verifying.
Seeker has to find out what "I" is. Seeker of truth has to be like a surgeon with a sharp scalpel, cutting away all inessential things. There is no use of quoting of scriptures. Instead of asking others whether it is their personal experience seeker has to verify through inquiry and reasoning on the true base and make personally whatever claimed by others is true or false.
People identify them selves with the physical body as self F.S insists that seeker must find out "What is mind ?" and "What is the substance of the mind ?", in order to unfold the mystery of his existence. The individual experiences like birth, life and death are happening within the mind. Therefore, the individual happening of life is nothing to do in pursuit of truth. Our individual actions and conducts are not the means to realize the truth, because man is a false entity within the false experience. The mind is a false experience, and it appears and disappears as waking and dream. The mind is in the form of consciousness. That is the whole waking experience or dreams are in the form of consciousness. Thus the substance of the mind is consciousness. The substance itself is the true self which is Ataman. Ataman prevails with or without the waking or dream. Absent of waking or dream is deep sleep.
Therefore, mind is only a mental experience, which appears and disappear, thus all the individual experiences happening within the waking experiences are as real as dream. Thus searching truth on the physical entity is erroneous. Therefore, it is necessary to realize the fact that neither the physical body nor the `I' is the true self. Then question arises what is `I'? Inquiry and reasoning reveals the fact that `I' is not the physical body but `I' is mind. And mind appears and disappears in the form of whole waking experience or dream. Since one limits the `I' to the physical entity he becomes unaware of the fact what `I' really is. Therefore, it is necessary to know and realize the fact that `I' is not the self. Most of the teachings are based on the `I' as self. They think physical body is not the self but they strongly believe `I' itself is self.
Until seeker gives up `I' based knowledge and try to seek truth on the base of `I' he will never be able to grasp and realize the truth. Truth pursuit is a mental journey. Therefore, only mental effort is needed .
Thus, it is necessary of seeker to verify and make sure that neither the physical body nor the `I' is the true self. `I' is mind and mind is whole waking experience. Waking experience is parallel dream and dream is parallel waking experience.
Thinking is the only tool the seeker of truth has got in pursuit of truth. If he starts his journey basing on the `I' [false self] he will be in the realm of imagination. Therefore, it is necessary to make sure `I' is not self.
F.S requests all the seekers read all the F.S messages from oldest to newest; again and again until they create a proper base of understanding, then it becomes easier to grasp and assimilate.
