The ultimate truth or Brahman dwells within the three states like
fragrance in the flower; Musk
lies within the Musk-deer yet
seeks it afar." Until one trace the truth within the three states the
illusion of birth, life, death and the world is experienced as reality. –FORMLESS PATH
Only on the base of the soul as self one will be able to realize the fact that, the three states are falsehood. Thus, it is necessary to have the firm conviction and learn to view and judge the three states on the base of the soul, to realize the three states never existed.
One has to find out, how this waking experience has appeared, when man and his experience of the world are within the waking experience? What is it, that is aware of the three states, which appear and disappear in succession? The seeker has to find the source of the three states, from where it rises and subsides. The seeker has to realize the fact that, duality (waking or dream) rises from non-dual (deep sleep ) source and subsides back in it.
Arguing with the gurus and scholars on the base of scriptures is of no use.
The Upanishads declare :-
Katha Upanishad 1:2:23:- The Soul cannot be realized through hearing scholarly explanation of the discourses, not even by the intellect.
Katha Upanishad 1:3:6:- “Through the knowledge of the Soul, God, one is pure and clean constantly.” Neither by reading the book, nor by taking a bath at holy place has one become pure. Inner purity is possible when one remains in constant touch with the Soul. Constant Soul-Consciousness is the real purity.
The Seeker has to investigate on his own and realize the fact that , mind is present in the form of universe. and the universe appears as waking or dream(duality) and disappears as deep sleep (non-duality. the self is not the waking entity but the self is formless soul, which witnesses the coming and going of the three states. the witness is also the substance of the three states therefore the formless witness and substance are one in essence. that essence is consciousness thus consciousness is ultimate truth or Brahman.
Till one takes the universe as reality the ignorance will prevail. The Ignorance is the greatest obstacle in pursuit of truth.
All bookish knowledge is based on the waking entity or ego( false self) is not of any use in pursuit of truth. The seeker has to earn the knowledge on his own by verifying the all the claims through soul-centric reasoning to reach the non-dual destination.

Mind appears
due to ignorance. Without ignorance the mind ceases to exist. Thus mind
is in the form of universe and appears as waking or dream. The waking or
dream is state of duality. Thus seeker has to hold wherever there is duality
there is ignorance. If duality is considered as reality than the
experience of birth, life, death and the world is considered as reality.
If experience birth, life, death and the world is considered as reality
than the form, time and space is becomes a reality. If form, time and space is
becomes reality as reality than there is diversity in unity. To bring back
the unity in diversity, one has to put the ego in to reverse gear until it
reaches the ultimate end or source from where mind rises and subsides.
The Seeker has to
grow from the inside out by soul-centric reasoning. None can teach him none can
make him to reach the ultimate end of understanding. There is no other guru but
the formless consciousness, which the innermost self.
